When I rollerset--I use the same products that I use with the knots. But when I airdry, I still use the Mango Butter, but I also use Dark & Lovely Naturally Honey Wave Glaze--this stuff is awesome. I think it's a little hard to find though.....

I think this is the product, I was looking at this webpage and found it here Dark & Lovely

I've never ordered from this store but I think there is a review on the vendors board.

Model Chick717, I saw your album, and your hair is AWESOME!! It looks very full and healthy!

I wanted to ask you about the texturizing process:
How often do you touch up?
Do you get it done professionally or do it yourself?
If you do it yourself, what do you use?
Is keeping moisture in your hair a problem?
Did you have breakage after texturizing?

Iknow I asked a lot of questions, but thanks for the replies!

Hey inky--I do texturize myself. I touch up about every 4 months and I use Elasta QP relaxer in regular strength that just recently I've started adding a little cholesteral conditioner to it. No, I don't think keeping moisture in my hair is a problem at all. I use this product by Elasta QP called Mango Butter and it keeps my hair moisturized and it defines my curls. As far as breakage--as long as you stay consistent with texturizing so that you don't end up with too many different textures on your head, breakage shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

hey model,

were you natural before you texturized? or were you relaxed and then you transitioned and then texturized? if you transitioned, how long did it take?

thanks

Hey honeydrop--actually I became texturized by "accident". First off, even when I had a relaxer, my hair was never able to be relaxed completely straight. I have a REALLY strong curl pattern. Any-hoo, when I say by accident, I mean...I started to wear sew-in weaves, just for fun--and let me tell you, those weaves become addictive, just because of the low maintence, but at the same time, you always look like a "glamour girl". haha So I started to wear weaves constantly, which because of that, I wouldn't relax my hair except for like every 4-5 months! When I would give the weaves a break and wear my own hair for like a couple weeks or so, I would always immediately wear it in a rollerset. Then one day, it just popped in my head to let my hair just airdry and see what it would look like. To my surprise, it looked really good. All that time, I hadn't realized that I had this option. So I've been purposely texturizing ever since.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I have still been wearing the DoMe Yaky weave hair and I'm still lovin it! Thanks again! What do you think about setting my straight weave in the Bantu knots for a curly look? Hmmmmm? I Might have to give it a try!

Hey TeeRoc--where ya been?!

Good for you--looks like the weave is holding up very well. Anyway, actually, I use to bantu knot set my weaves all the time! I would just slightly dampen the sections of hair with a spray bottle with water--put a little mousse (yes, mousse) on each section and knot. It comes out with this really nice wave. Check out my photo album (not the hair album) and look at the picture titled "me going out" and I have on a maroon top and jeans--that is a bantu knot set on weaved hair.

They have me real busy over there, but I missed all you guys over here so I had to drop in and say wha's up? I've been trying to look at your picture but girl your photo album is having a major traffic jam!!

I'll try later. I might try the waves for Easter. Wish me luck!

Oh--sorry aameera (beautiful name!)....

Actually, the way I pinned my hair up is I grab one side of my hair and the back and sort of twist it upward (as if I were going to put in a butterfly clip) and clip it in place with a large metal barrette. I let the other side hang down and the very top, I pin back with a few bobby pins.

Does that make sense?
