Hey chicas---I've posted another texturized picture (that is an actual headshot picture) and a braidout picture in my hair album....for those interested in checking it out. thx!
Your pics look great. You favor chilli...has anyone ever told u that?
I think when I take my braids down I may texturize my new growth and gradully transition into a texturizer if my new growth is not as curly as desired. You are a great texturized inspiration.
Nope, I've never gotten the Chilli comment--but thx!
How long do you plan on wearing braids? Were you initially trying to transition to natural hair? If so, maybe wait awhile before texturizing your newgrowth and think about it.
I don't want people to think that I'm "pushing" texturizers on anyone--I just want to show another option. I was natural for a minute a few years ago--and for me, it required too much work....anyway, I've gotten great responses from you guys on texturized hair--and I'm happy to inspire others to try it.
Someone who's relaxed and planned on staying that way--really has nothing to lose with deciding to maybe trying to transition to a texturizer over time because if it turns out not to be what she likes--she can always get it fully relaxed and have relaxed hair again. Now, people who've planned on going natural or are natural--I caution to really think about it--because if it doesn't turn out to be what they wanted, they'd have to start all over.....just my own personal disclaimer because I don't want to be the reason for someone to put a chemical in their hair and then hate it.
Beautiful as always! Just when the excitment of getting a texturizer subsided, you go ahead and post yet another picture that has me beaming again.
I'm going to wash my hair this weekend to review my newgrowth...I did a mini-chop last week so I might be completely natural now. I want to make sure a looser pattern of my own waves will give me the texturized look I want. I want your take on it as well so I'll PM you the pics.
As you already know, I love your rollerset. I was going to wait til you got here so you could show me how to do it, but since you're already giving out tips and instructions... can you tell me how you do your rollerset. What types of products and rollers do you use. THANK U
I have not relaxed since 10/22/2003. I am transitioning to natural but ia want my hair to look alot like what you are sporting. I do not want my curls corkskrew tight and I want minmum shrinkage. Before I take the plunge and do it I am going to toy around with my new growth and see if my results are desirable. If I can get away with it WITHOUT texturizing then I will but if I can't I wil be giving a texturizer a nother try.
Hey babyblue---I use the normal drugstore/bss magnetic rollers with the snap on covers mostly. I wash and then put a little moisturizer on the ends--I now use Elasta Mango Butter, spray with a leave-in conditioner and then with Lottabody setting lotion and roll. I think the rollers that I use are like 1 inch in diameter.
I've also used the spongy flexirod type rollers as well and they give a more spiral wilder look.
Tonya--sounds good. I only stated all that above because there are other threads that people were feeling inspired to texturize and some debate on going natural vs. texturizing came about. So I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't coming across as the Jehovah's Witness of texturizers--that's all. I myself am happy with my hair!
ROFLMAO....you are funny. I don' feel you are pushing texturiers on us. I just think you liek sharing your pics because you are excited about your hair.
MC I WAS INFORMED THAT YOU SEW YOUR OWN WEAVE IN YOUR HAIR.
I WOULD LIKE TO TRY IT FOR MYSELF AS WELL. WHAT IS YOUR BRAID PATTERN AND CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO DO A CLOSURE?
Anyway, to answer some questions, my hair is texturized.
As far as weaves, yep, I sew them in myself. I always cornrow my hair going straight back. Because of the thickness of my hair and the fact that it's getting longer, sometimes I make two rows of cornrows. Also, I've never used a closure piece. I always where my weaves with a part or kind of "going" back--so I leave a small amount of my hair out when doing the weave to cover the top tracks. HTH!
Ok I tried this hairstyle with the Bantu knots and took them out and all that and my hair looked a hot mess! I looked like Macy Gray on Crack.LOL. I looked REALLY wild. Anywho I did swoop it all into a high ponytail on the top of my head and it just looks TOO cute! I keep getting compliments. The curly ponytail is gonna be my summer doo. I LOVE it. I was never able to get my ponytail so curly before. THANKS!
When you air dry your hair, how do you have your hair laid out when its wet? (if that question makes sense). For example, when it's wet, is your hair all combed back? or do you make a part in the middle or side part? How is your hair before airdrying?
Also, what do u use to texturize your hair? When is the last time you use Elasta QP relaxer? I had posted a thread asking about texturized hair but Im still confused on the whole concept.
When I let my hair airdry, my hair is usually going back. I tend to put a really skinny plastic headband on so that I can move around and it doesn't fall in my face--which I take off once my hair is like 70% dry...
I use Elasta QP relaxer to texturize my hair--I leave it on for like 5 min (though sometimes I go over it again another day if it's not texturized enough) and I touch-up about every 4 months.
