Oh my gosh, you guys---I'm blushing! haha

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to check the board--or to respond to your PM, ccd. Okay, pick my brain. What exactly is it you would like to know?

I checked out your photo album and you have this curly shot named 'knotted' . We all want to know (from start to finish), how you accomplished that. Please include all products and a detailed step by step

Okay--here we go....

I start with wet hair. Actually, I think I just washed my hair with Suave Coconut shampoo and conditioner. Then I spray on a leave-in conditioner (K-Pak), put about a quarter size amount of Elasta QP Mango butter in my hands--apply it to the ends of my hair and the run the excess on my hands through my roots. Then I spray with Lottabody setting lotion (that I dilute with water) and then I put my hair in like 8-10 "knots" (bantu knots, china bumps, whatever...they're called) haha I'll either sit under the dryer or sleep in them--and once their like 80% dry, I take them down and let them airdry...and wala!

By the way, my hair was layerd then--with the back a little past collarbone length. I just got my hair trimmed about 5 days ago and she took like 3 inches off the back.

Let me know if you have any more ???'s.

thank goodness i have everything u said or i'd be running out. Bad CH, bad bad bad

I am going to try this 2nite...

My only problem is: what is a bantu knot/china bump and how does one achieve this? How do you secure it? And lastly, do you part your hair or just grab sections and do the 'knots'? Thanks.

Thanks for sharing. Just yesterday as I was driving home, I was thinking about testing out some bantu knots as a heat free way to style.

You just gave me an added incentive

I'm glad I could help, ladies...

I basically just grab sections to knot--but I do try to keep it symmetrical, so that one side of my hair isn't curlier or straighter than the other side.

Basically to knot, you take a section of hair and twist it (one single twist) until it begins to twist back on itself--the I just rap the twist back around on itself and then pen the end with a bobby pin...

Once the braids are out I am definately going to try this!!! Model chick you really are a model for this site! Looking good girl.

Damn girl I aint no lesbian, no really I'm not but you are a cutie. Your beautiful..geez.

I'm really not a lesbian..tell them Caramelhonee...

Okay... got it. Thanks MC. If i like it, i'll take a picture... if i don't, im coming to the midwest so you could do it for me
grin.gif

A few more questions... do you twist your hair in any direction or are all twist (for example) twisted around clockwise so all the curls are symetrical? Does it matter? how do you position ur knots, (for example) say 4 in the front from ear to ear, 4 in the middle from ear to ear and 3 in the back from ear to ear? (i hope that makes sense

)
lastly, when u take out the knots, what do you do to your hair?

Yaw are so crazy!! I believe you BSG--and thx. Thx to you too, Tonya!

CH--it's like I do three rows--left side, top of my head (middle section), and the right side...if you can picture that--each row has about 3 knots--and then at the very bottom (nape) I put one knot. It's still a little trial-by-error with me too.

Anyway, when I take them down--they're usually still SLIGHTLY damp so I unpin them and unravel them a bit and let them sit like that for a few minutes or go sit under the dryer again for about 5 minutes so they can finish drying while each section is "hanging". After that I separate with my fingers and finger style, and then I grab this wide-toothed pick that I have and pick through it a bit--I never pick it all the way through to the ends, you'll lose the curl definition that way--basicall just pick through the roots to creat a little volume--finger style the ends instead....

Model Chick you mentioned that your stylist took three inches off your length. Was that a good thing or was she a SHS?

GREAT description. By golly i think i've got it

LOLOL... The thing is, i want my hair to 'stick up' like yours does (i have layers 2) but my hair is between my shoulderblades - directly @ my armpits. Do you think that will b possible? i dont want that braidout look (hanging down)

Mariaat--actually my "stylist" is my little sister...haha--and no, she's no SHS. I told her to cut that much--because I hadn't had a trim in almost a year (I know, I know, haha) and I'm trying to even up my layers a bit.

CH--since your hair is longer than mine--then I would probably let them dry FULLY before taking them down. This style seems to take a while for it to dry, I think because the hair is so condensed while wet. If I were you, I would do this at night, then sit under the dryer for like 30 min. and then sleep in them--in the morning, it should probably be fully dry--and I think you'll get the "stick up" look.
