Miss Jessie's Has A How-To Video on Youtube

her curls were a lot more defined after using the product; i personally think that the quick curls product would work just the same as some fantasia ic gel and the silkening product can be replaced by an anti-frizz serum of some sorts if neccessary.

I really don't think she used too much product, nothing more than what other ladies have used to define their curls...

I myself have never visited her website to check out her products until now...for me personally, i can understand paying $9 for a product, but for it to be so small in size, you won't get too many uses out of it...The price seems reasonable when I compare it to other products that I buy, like aveda hair products, which is priced similarly...

a little ot: they are currently running a buy 1 get 1 free promotion. It's only on the 8oz or more products, however the 2oz quick curls is included...

I know for my hair - inexpensive conditioners do absolutely nothing for me AND I end up spending more than if I purchased the more "expensive" item.

Suave costs $1 and I could go through 2 a week which equals $8 a month. After 6 months I spent $48 bucks. Miss Jessie's lasts me at least 9 months for $48 bucks. And the Suave does nothing for my hair. It is like pouring $2 down the drain every time I buy it.

I also use Aveda and it is worth the money b/c it lasts so long you come out ahead than if you spent money on cheaper products that you have to use more of over time.

I achieve a similar look but I do not use that much product or take that much time. I did try it with my Denman after I washed this past weekend and the look was nice.

Maintenance wise....wet, shake and go and dry while driving in to work with the heat on high. LOL

Thanks for the video! Nice curls but I don't think someone would need all of that to achieve that. Why not just use a rich inexpensive conditioner instead? Works the same. Save money. But it doesn't hurt to try it out......

The before looked like natural hair w/o any product. The after looked like natural hair with product and body..so to me it did look better. The color is horrible to me personally. And yes it is obvious she has some type of chemical.

I too wish they would show a variety of textures in these videos and on their website. They are pushing their chemical services in every promotion. I mean even the folks who went in initially for non chemical services you see in their pictures that they eventually decide for a chemical in the end. It's like wow can you show some 4a hair or something. I would love to see Southernbella up there using those products.

The reason they don't show it on someone with hair like mine is because the result would not be the same. It would not be a desired textured look. It would essentially be a moisturized twist out, like she says in the interview someone posted. With kinky hair textures, they do twist outs. By not using someone with this hair type, people watching can have hope that any hair will look like this because they've never seen an instance of the product "fail" to give a curly result.

Spoke too soon, they have a video showing exactly that. They use a woman with kinkier textures and the buttercream, which is their moisture line rather than their curl defining line:

I liked it best before she separated the twist out.

I saw the video and at first I was thinking ok the before shot looks like me in the morning, but honestly all she needed was to spritz with water and she would've been fine. If anything, her wet hair with no product was lovely.

I was waiting to be dazzled by the after picture. It looked exactly the same to me. I also think that she used way too much product. I can get those same defined curls with castor oil, a little bit of Ecostyler, and be out the door 5 minutes later.

BTW, Does anybody here use a blowdryer to stretch the roots? I'm afraid to try this.

somebody already answered...she does use the silkner...I agree.

I think you are taking "crunchy" out of context. The way I see it, and the way I read her comment of "her hair looks crunchy"...it's like when someone uses too much product that makes their hair hard and dry...hence crunchy to the touch. I definitely have never heard or used it in terms of someone with kinky hair.

If I use the wrong gel my hair can look and feel crunchy. I hate that feeling and I certainly can't touch my hair when its like that. I stopped using Fantasia IC Gel because of the crunchiness. I like my curly hair with movement.

Oh yea I know the aren't doing the chemical process on our heads. But, I would at least like to see them use their products on our hair w/o any twist out etc. I am going to take a look at this video too.

Also it bothers me that they push their chemical services. I guess because I thought of their products as products for naturals however obviously that is nto the case. These products are for texturized people...that is why almost everyone they show has their silkener. This reason alone is part of the reason why I have never ordered from them....:nono:

ETA: And they are always doing styles on folks with that much hair if they are 4 type textures. Anyways........She is GORGEOUS and I think they should have skipped the blowdryer step.

It is sooooooooo obvious she has a texturizer. Her hair is so unnaturally inconsistent and stringy. She is the posterchild for a bad texturizer over time.

What is considered a good way of texturizing the hair without the inconsistency and stringiness? Does anyone know?

I dont know. There are some ladies on here with some beautiful texturized hair and you would never know... I think Sareca texturizes her hair and it is lovely.

I can't do that with a blowdryer b/c my hair will frizz out.

I wasn't impressed by that video but the Miss Jessie's twist out video was very nice. I may try that with the products I already have.
