March 2017: Hits & Misses

o_O: Jakeala's honey prepoo.
I had high hopes for this since the ingredients looked very good. However the consistency is weird. Not sure if it's all the powders but the consistency reminds me of my kids' moon sand when it's wet. I left it on over night and there was residue all over my head but my hair was somewhat soft after rinsing. As a prepoo this didn't cut it for me because my favorites melt away tangles and makes finger detangling a breeze. I was unable to do that with this. I didn't apply it to wet hair as the instructions said since I used it as a prepoo overnight so maybe it works better as a DC although I doubt it. This won't be a repurchase.

New Hits: Komaza's pona and bountiful mane. Both keeps my scalp acting right. Definite repurchase.

Everyone who's tried it has said the same exact thing. The consistency.

Mannnn.....Nobody liked that stuff.:lachen:

That is so surprising.

Hmph. Sounds like she needs to go to the drawing board with that one.:look:

She was suppose to send "new stuff" out to a few members to "test" - This should have been one of them (before she decided to list it).
@IDareT'sHair
I agree, back to the drawing board.the ingredients are so yummy maybe she needs to omit some of the powders

Miss (I think)
Paul Mitchell The Conditioner - I tried this leave-in after reading all of the rave reviews and it provided zero slip

After my roller set dried my hair didn't feel dry, but it didn't feel as soft as it normally does.....

I don't think I'll revisit this one since I already have a staple leave-in.

HUGE HIT:
APB's Ultra Conditioning Souffle:drool:
APB's Ultra Conditioning Souffle:heart3:
APB's Ultra Conditioning Souffle:love:

*Did I say....APB's Conditioning Souffle?.....:love2:I know I am way late to the Party!

@IDareT'sHair, are these moisturizing deep conditioners? Where does one purchase? I'm on the hunt to replace my stash of DC's and would like to try some new ones. My hair is going through a phase and some of the ones I used to use aren't working any more.

Major Hit:
Design Essentials Coconut and Monoi Deep Moisture Masque.
Used it with heat and it was everything! I am lowkey upset no one mentioned this product before. Had definition, moisture, melted tangles. Just Amazing.

Miss: The smell of the DE Deep Moisture Masque. It's just ugh. It smells like rotten coconut mixed with spoiled dairy products. Smells so bad, but worked wonders on my hair.

Definite Hit:
Sheaterra Rosemary Carrot Seed Moroccan Mud-Poo

Ingredients
Contains only: Moroccan lava clay, USDA certified organic olive oil, cold pressed carrot seed oil, rosemary essential oil, cold pressed watercress oil, cold pressed henna oil, cold pressed calendula oil, marshmallow root, sidr, amla

Wow. I love that it's a powder and that I thus get to control the consistency of the mud poo I make with it. I simply mixed water with it in a measuring cup so that I could use the spout to pour the runny mud mix into a color applicator bottle for less messy application. I massaged it in and finger detangled with it. I let it sit on my hair for 5 minutes. When I washed it out. my hair was clean and moisturized with oil. PERFECT!!!

Miss:
Shea Moisture High Porosity Mask. I liked it initially, but after a second use, I realized that it just wasn't thick enough for my hair. Great slip, but once I rinsed, nothing amazing. Just meh... TERRIBLE smell. Giving the rest away.

Continued Hits:
Tangle Teezer
Hourglass Rollers
ORS creamy aloe
Bekura YAM Nectar
SM Superfruit Mask

Revistited Hit:
Jessicurl Too Shea as a leave-in. It made my rollerset so soft, silky, and shiny.

Hit and Miss: Lakshmi's Cupboard Amla Silk Restorative Masque

Texture is similar to any SD DC if you've ever tried it. It's a bit thicker and spreads ok.

Slip is not great. Now, slip is not a determining factor initially for me because my hair is already smooth. After it marinates, that's when I look at slip. However, when I applied it, I still had to add some etae over just to put my hair in dookie twist. When I rinsed, it rinsed clean and felt smooth. No tangles, no knots, no dreads.

I used half a jar. And it's a 16oz jar. It's really thick.

Smell is neutral.

My hair felt nice but I didn't feel wowed. It definitely feels stronger and I had less shedding.

In the end, I liked it, but it doesn't justify the price tag. I bought it for half off, but it's not worth the full price tag.
