March 2017: Hits & Misses

I got some for like $6 at Sally's in January. I can't find it
I need to organize my stash.
@JerriBlank
$6! I woulda' tore them shelves up!

You betta find that goodt goodt!
@MileHighDiva
Although I love it, I liked it better when it was in a Jar and called: Weekly Deep Treatment which we use to fondly refer to it as: JC WDT.

It's very nice. So is Too Shea! and Shealoe. Very nice line. A little pricey and shipping is too high.

:bat:

It's not fair!!! Happy for you, I guess. :look:

Seriously, though, good deal. I can't EVEN imagine.
:rofl:Don't beat me! It's been trial and error but my method works for me. I start at the root and gently run my fingers down until I hit a tangle, I grasp each side and gently separate and then repeat around my entire head until I can run my fingers from root to rip with no snags.

Each rotation around my head takes about 2-3 minutes and a total of 1/4 bottle of suave coconut or like 40 pumps of herbal essence honey I'm strong conditioner. Slippy conditioner (natural or cone filled) and starting at the roots cut my time from 45mins to 10-15.

New Initial Hit
Ouid.ad cleansing oil. I've heard only great things about this but the price always deterred me. I took the plunge when they had that 25% coupon to try it and I see why it gets rave reviews. First you don't need to use a lot to get a really good lather, which is good becasue this stuff's not cheap. After the first lather I wasn't impressed with the softness, becasue I was expecting more. However after the second lather my hair was so soft and silky looking I was truly impressed. The results were very comparable to what I get when I oil rinse. I'll only purchase this when on sale though.

That product sounds fascinating.

Qhemet Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee

My tangles were no match for this ghee. It worked on my hair when dry AND when wet. When applied to the hair, it smells precisely like hot cocoa (very strongly so), but it fades some after a bit (thank heaven).

Hits
Shescentit Riche Moisture Masque (left my hair super soft and moisturized. I've been looking for moisturizing DCs because the Shea Moisture ones stopped working for my hair)

Shescentit Jojoba Hemp Shampoo ( Lathered nicely, didn't strip my hair.....pretty satisfied with this)

Revisited Hit
Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream ( This moisturized by hair when I was relaxed but was too heavy for me to use often. I revisited it now that I'm natural and it left my hair SOFT!! It also didn't weigh my hair down).

  • Not t shirt drying my hair. I just simply let it drip dry until I'm ready to apply my leave ins. I might blot a few areas with the T-shirt, but wearing a t shirt on my hair for 10-20 made it dry and frizzy.
  • LAOC method! This has done wonders for my texture. A lady named Mama Daye on YouTube talks about it. I apply my leave in, then spray avj on my hair, then seal with an oil. You can use a cream too if need be.

Miss: Devacurl decadence no poo and conditioner, arc angel gel, supercream and b'leave in.

Expensive trash for my hair. every product in this line feels like it either is drying my stands out or just sitting on my strands doing nothing.

I let the conditioner sit for a few minutes and I couldn't even detangle my hair. it didn't have enough slip. I'm going to give it all to my friend. These products don't work well with my hair at all.

Hit: TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave in
Very slippery! Aids in detangling. Smells good. Definitely adds lasting moisture. (Not as much moisture as Oyin Hair Dew I don't think, but still very good.)

Miss: TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave in
Oh my goodness, somebody HAS to know better than this: This product belongs in a JAR or squeezable TUBE and NOT a hard bottle.

Miss: My most recent attempt to improve my regimen
My first-pass detangling needs to occur at the sink, period.

Qhemet Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee

I admit I was kinda shock at the appearance and texture. It looked and scooped out like a not so creamy butter but when rubbing the hands together, it turned creamy. I was thinking is this a butter beforehand and now that it turned kinda creamy I was like or is it a moisturizer. Lol. I had to go back and read the directions and ingredients. Lol. It does have a lot of butter in it. Upon application it melted my tangles and instantly moisturized my hair. I think I was in instant awe. I don't think I have ever seen or had a product that looked like a butter melt some tangles....interesting. lol

Miss:
The price of this ish! Lol

A little bit goes a long way so you may only have to buy 1 or 2 a year during a sale. Lol

Same here, @gorgeoushair! I've used it twice now, and both times my reaction has been an astonished, "Wow. How is something with this consistency melting tangles?!??" It's got me side-eyeing my Soultanicals Hair Glide, and that is truly saying something.

I felt the exact same way the first time using it. I use it as a moisturizer after applying lotion. It's just a wonderful product. I hate the price tag as well, but it's worth it.

When I got my beauty insider rewards at Seph.ora, I bought 3 and then 1 during a sale.

Also, a jar can last me 12 wash days. The first jar lasted 16, but, hair grows. You know?
