I would love to know this. I'm thinking of switching from no-lye to lye....
I was tempted to switch to lye, too. I use to have Affirm relaxers, and my hair was getting thinner and thinner. In January, I finally decided to change to Phytospecific index II. I don't plan to ever change again. I use only 80% of the inductor required for the mix, relax no more often than every 10 weeks (haven't made it to 12 weeks without major damage, yet). I've suffered no more breakage and I'm gaining thickness.
Yea I remember there was a thread about Affrim relaxers and how it slowly thins out your hairI used no-lye (Affirm Fiberguard) for years, but my hair thinned tremendously. When I finally figured out what contributed to the thinning I switched to lye.
My hair is thicker thanks in part to switching to lye and the valuable advice of LHCF.
This is the best relaxer I've ever used!well i was a child of elasta qp no-lye and my hair was shiny and slick but i dont know if this was a facade or if it was really healthy.i dont know.im confused but i most likely will be a QP head again since it was so good
This is the best relaxer I've ever used!![]()
I found No lye very drying to my hair, and it started to break off slowly, it also turned my hair a funny dirty brown color. I also found that the stylist tend to over process my hair with no-lye since I was not burning. Now I find it best to wash out based on my clock not the burning, lol.
With Lye, my hair is more moisturized, does not discolor or dry out my hair,
From personal experience, even though I used no lye for YEARS, I have just found that lye is better for the health of my hair.
No lye really dried my hair out whereas lye doesn't seem to strip the moisture out of my hair and my hair stays soft.
