OP your hair looks great! I love this stuff as a deep conditioner. maybe when i get some more i will try using it as a styler in this way. but i am really heavy handed so this might be quite a bit of challenge!

Its the Lustrasilk!!!!! :lachen:.... my crop is 4a with a little 4b in my crown to the fullest..... I was talking with my bestfriend who happens to be a member here as well.... she is 3a... and we both agreed it does a certain something with your curls after it dries....

we weren't sure if it defines them more or what... but its even better dried then wet.

Do you/or have you ever straightened your hair?

The reason I ask is because my oldest DD is 4a/b, she straightens a lot, and if she wears her hair curly, it looks just like yours. Also her hair is fine, just like yours.

That might be what's confusing some of the posters.

Also, your hair looks great!!

I bought some of this last week and haven't used it yet.

You and Pokahontas have inspired me to test it out.

Um... I'm relaxed with about 2 inches of new growth. When I used this on my hair (and TRUST I have 4/a/b/z baby fine hair) it gave me CURLS. Tiny little spirally bits of curly goodness all over (except my crown where it's the most coarse.)

This is definitely worth a try... and for under 3 bucks, you can't beat it.

Girl i love ya!

I love it kelkel!!!! I knew this stuff would work on your hair.....its definitely giving my mixed chicks a run for its money at a fraction of the cost!!!! Its amazing on how defined your curls come out and super moisturized too.

I think your a 4a.....for those that are in disbelief, that just goes to show you how incredible lustrasilk shea butter cholesterol really is:)

Ummm, who are you and where did all that pretty hair come from???

I'm 4b, and I remember trying this when pocahontas posted her first thread about it. My hair turned around and looked at me like "Um, no, lol."

:lachen: I'mma leave the lustrasilk to you lovely curly ladies

TCATT.... went to your fotki.... I love your hair.... after looking at your fotki I noticed my texture is just like yours.... the only difference is my hair is really thin... which I haven't figured out if that is how it is naturally or self inflicted...... anyhoo I say that to say yall I think I am a 4a and that it is the power of the Lustrasilk shea butter cholesterol....

why yall trying to kick me out the 4's........:lachen:

Thank you. I think you are a 4a with some 3c thrown in there. And your hair is definitely not thin, it's just fine and that's where the difference come in, regardless your hair looks pretty. Where did you find the Lustrasilk? I can't find it anywhere.

Now that I'm on my computer, I can see you definitely have some 4a, especially in the back. And having fine hair makes a difference as well. But, I wouldn't say you are fully 4a. 4a hair has smaller coils, and the hair in the front of your head definitely isn't what I would consider 4a. And you are most certainly not 4b. But, that's just my opinion.

The reason I was quick to point out that she doesn't seem to be 4a/b to me is because naturals, especially new naturals, can get the wrong idea from these types of threads. If you don't have curls, there's no magic product that's going to give them to you. Sometimes, there just aren't any curls to "define". But people will waste their money and time until they finally figure it out.

Uh...I see 3c/4a.

And I am going to KILL my sister for using all of my cholesterol, because I am dying to recreate that gorgeousness you posted on my own head.

Beautiful hair!! They don't sell Lustrasilk in Indiana (well at least not in this part with few black ppl).

***Leaving thread dreaming of beautiful curls and Lustrasilk after BCing this summer***

:look: I agree with the majority, you don't look 4a/b. You are def 3c with 4a mixed in, maybe. Your hair doesn't really coil much like Msa said--not that anything is wrong with that. It is more like "ramen noodle curls" unless you still have a lot of relaxed ends left.

The lustrasilk came out great regardless. It looks beautiful! Thanks for the review. I used it on my 3c/4a hair the other day. It didn't make my hair loose at all though, quite the opposite. My curls and coils got smaller and more defined. Maybe you just needed some moister to bring out your natural 3c curls.

I don't get what's up with the kicking you out "4 a/b club" thing? Is there something wrong with being 3c/4a if that is how your hair is? It doesn't matter your hair type. All types are beautiful. I was just wondering how this would work on coils (4a/b) and I was a little confused when I saw the pics of your hair. This is not meant to be offensive at all, because we are similar hair textures.

But does any 4a/b's get good definition from this? A 4a friend of mine was just asking about products to bring out their coils that's why I checked in here. Curious..

Regardless of your texture, the results are beautiful!

I have really tight coils (new growth, I'm transitioning) so this might help me with curl definition when I BC :-) It's already on my list on products to try when I'm natural, I'll probably buy it soon and keep it in my stash.

I love that it costs nothing compared to some curly products!!!

Eclass215: cantu? got it!... but how do you sleep on it... do you tie a scarf on it ? or put it in a pony? I woke up today and it didn't look so hot...

I sleep with it pulled back in a loose ponytail and a bonnet. I've slept without the bonnet too and just on a satin pillowcase, but I feel more 'protected' with the bonnet, lol. Hope that works next time!

Very pretty, OP!!

Very nice ... I was at Sally's looking for this and I couldn't find it ...

Have y'all checked Dollar General or Family Dollar? I've purchased two jars from Sally, but I've also bought one from DG. 2 dollas, holla!

No I didn't even think to check there, I may go today or tomorrow.

Ditto...that is the reason I point it out too. I have wasted so much money and time trying to make my 4B hair curl and I don't want anyone else to go through it.

Crazydaze: all you do is start from at your nape with sections and apply the cholesterol from root to tip by raking or finger combing your hair to lengthen it to elongate your curls..... shake the ends to give it volume.... Kittykat1374 has an excellent video on you tube.

200AndOne: it took me 30 mins ... but I had to break a lot because my daughter who is seven months could and would live in my arms....
uninterrupted maybe 10 mins.... the first two pictures are my hair wet... the other two I took hours after my hair was dried and I had gone out to run errands.

TCatt86: I think you are right I am 4a but my hair is fine.... it looks as if it would be thick natural but as soon as I straighten it .... it resembles paper.

brsugarbabe: I shampooed and conditioned and detangled in the shower with my trader joe's nourish spa...... then all I put in it was the Lustrasilk with a little bit of IC gel on top. it took maybe 45 minutes for it to dry completely... my hair dries really fast..... a little residue was left on but I think its because I put too much cholesterol on.... next time I won't be as heavy handed. I did put some jojoba oil on for shine but it was very little.

Eclass215: cantu? got it!... but how do you sleep on it... do you tie a scarf on it ? or put it in a pony? I woke up today and it didn't look so hot...

Thank you so much for responding.

That is very pretty Kelkel.
I'll try it on my hair sometime soon but I doubt I'll have the same results.
I agree with some of the others...Your curl pattern looks just outside of the type4 category.

Hair typing is so weird!
I was explaining it to my husband yesterday and he told me that if type 4 is the farthest end of the scale, then I can't possibly be a type 4.
