...... Hey ladies.... okay I hardly ever post ...I usually sit on the sidelines quietly trying to absorb all the great tips and info from you all.

So I was reading Pokahontas's thread about the Lustrasilk Shea butter cholesterol.... and the pj in me took over and I ran out to Sally's to get it.

So I decided to try the curlisto method not expecting too much..... and to my surprise I fell in love !!!!!!!!!!!:love::love:

I have tried Tigi Curls Rock..... Mixed Chicks and a few others and I would have never guessed my saver would come in a 2.95 tub.:lachen:

I wore my hair out yesterday, which I never do and my aunt was like, "how did you get your hair to curl like that?" which meant it must have looked presentable otherwise she would have been getting her clown on.

So Thank you Pokahontas for the tip as well as all the natural 4a/b ladies who said it was possible. You ladies have given me my summer hair....

Thanks ladies..... this has freed me from wearing half wigs in 100 + weather....

now if someone could tell me how to maintain it while sleeping I will be in heaven...lol

Looks Great, but your hair doesnt look like 4a/b or maybe its the Lustrasilk?
Anyway it looks GREAT

I was surprised because it wasn't as much shrinkage as I am used to...I wasn't sure if I should attribute that to the Cholesterol or the raking and combing......

for years I would see sooo many natural ladies with beautiful curls and styles that work and I would try to do them and it would come out looking a H.A.M.....

now after doing this its like... *singing* ... "A WHOLE NEW WORLD".....

Its the Lustrasilk!!!!! :lachen:.... my crop is 4a with a little 4b in my crown to the fullest..... I was talking with my bestfriend who happens to be a member here as well.... she is 3a... and we both agreed it does a certain something with your curls after it dries....

we weren't sure if it defines them more or what... but its even better dried then wet.

Ummm you are definitely not a 4ab.

Pretty hair regardless.

you think ? ..... I dunno I look at the 3 ppl and I can't relate.....if I am not a 4a then what am I??? Msa don't send me through a hair identity crisis....:lachen:

You appear to be a 3c to me...your hair seems more coarse than silky, does that make sense? You probably have some 4a in there. But 4a coils are small, and your curls seem too large to be 4a. You are definitely not 4b though.

And remember, when hair is really moisturizer that's when you'll get a good idea of the texture.

She could be a 4a with a finer hair or if she flat irons regularly the texture could have loosened. The OP is definitely not a 4b though. I tried shingling this weekend and I didn't like the results to much. I'm a 4a/4b. I may try the Lustrasilk next time and see how it look.

Did you also use a leave in conditioner? How long did it take to dry? Was any residue left on your hair?

I tried it on Saturday and it took so long to dry. Some residue was left at the roots too.

Yeah your hair does look cute. And you know what - I've found that after sleeping on it if I put Cantu Shea Butter on my hair in the morning, the curls come right back! Maybe that'll work.

Your hair looks great. It does not look 4a/b to me but I'm not too good with the hair typing business.

Beautiful curls!

But I agree with some of the others, it doesn't look like 4ab hair.

Crazydaze: all you do is start from at your nape with sections and apply the cholesterol from root to tip by raking or finger combing your hair to lengthen it to elongate your curls..... shake the ends to give it volume.... Kittykat1374 has an excellent video on you tube.

200AndOne: it took me 30 mins ... but I had to break a lot because my daughter who is seven months could and would live in my arms....
uninterrupted maybe 10 mins.... the first two pictures are my hair wet... the other two I took hours after my hair was dried and I had gone out to run errands.

TCatt86: I think you are right I am 4a but my hair is fine.... it looks as if it would be thick natural but as soon as I straighten it .... it resembles paper.

brsugarbabe: I shampooed and conditioned and detangled in the shower with my trader joe's nourish spa...... then all I put in it was the Lustrasilk with a little bit of IC gel on top. it took maybe 45 minutes for it to dry completely... my hair dries really fast..... a little residue was left on but I think its because I put too much cholesterol on.... next time I won't be as heavy handed. I did put some jojoba oil on for shine but it was very little.

Eclass215: cantu? got it!... but how do you sleep on it... do you tie a scarf on it ? or put it in a pony? I woke up today and it didn't look so hot...

TCATT.... went to your fotki.... I love your hair.... after looking at your fotki I noticed my texture is just like yours.... the only difference is my hair is really thin... which I haven't figured out if that is how it is naturally or self inflicted...... anyhoo I say that to say yall I think I am a 4a and that it is the power of the Lustrasilk shea butter cholesterol....

why yall trying to kick me out the 4's........:lachen:

I love it kelkel!!!! I knew this stuff would work on your hair.....its definitely giving my mixed chicks a run for its money at a fraction of the cost!!!! Its amazing on how defined your curls come out and super moisturized too.

I think your a 4a.....for those that are in disbelief, that just goes to show you how incredible lustrasilk shea butter cholesterol really is:)

Well, I need to get some because I'm a type 4a/b. From time to time, my stylist tactfully makes me feel as if my hair is the worst texture in the whole wide world. :wallbash:

However, he was surprised with my hair when it reached waist length--thanks to the moisture rich products I bring into the salon. It "topped" all of his. That just goes to show that hair stylists don't know everything. :nono:

I really need to look into Lustrasilk Shea Butter and Mango Cholesterol conditioner just to surprise my stylist. If it makes my hair look like Type 3, then he will be shocked!
