Luscious Healthy Ends Challenge 2017

Do you think the one and only split end repair would be enough?
I had to see what it was. So it has water, a humectant in it, a mending agent (gellan gum), Shea butter to seal (heavy seal) and keratin that will fill in the cracks. So it may do the trick. I would test it out. Does it feel like it will give you slip? The water and the humectants won't stop frizz when it comes to humidity. I think you could use the Argan One n Only serum when you take down your roller sets.

When I see people come out set, they are rough handling. Most of them use a paddle brush. Then when it's time to trim, they take off 2-3 inches. I would have no hair using a paddle brush, brushing out anything.

I don't know if it gives me slip. I just bought it. I'm not worried about humidity because I'm not wearing my hair out. I just want it to keep my ends from drying out under the dryer. Guess I will have to try it.

Maybe we can remind each other. I looked at the Nexxus Emergencee (sp?) at Kroger today. I'm glad I found a place close by to pick it up. I've heard good things about it so I want to try it. Since it isn't really a hard protein maybe I can use it more often in between hard protein treatments.
@faithVA

You're on. Have you seen the thread 'Protein is my Friend part 2? If you haven't subscribed as yet, you can join us over there as a constant reminder to use protein.

During the week, in addition to using castor oil on water soaked ends, I added shea butter about 1 -2 times per week on the ends. It made a big difference. Detangling after wash and conditioning was much easier.

My hair wash/condition/ detangle process dropped from 3 hours to 1 hour and 45 minutes. The differences from this week to last week:
  1. Used shea butter on ends during the week
  2. Got to hair within the 7 day cycle (I MUST wash every week).
  3. Used coconut cream instead of coconut milk (Ran out of coconut milk and I have used coconut cream before and there was not a great difference in outcome)
  4. Deep conditioned with my DIY coconut conditioner for 12 minutes (didn't deep conditioner with my DIY coconut conditioner last week and didn't deep condition with heat either.)

Great job, ladies.

I'm still here. I'm still figuring out my ends care game. So far I'm using the DIY CurlyProverbz hair growth oil to keep my hair ends well-oiled, and I'm using heavy gel to try to make my ends more tangle resistant.

@Chicoro, I'm going to try washing, DCing, and THEN detangling. I'm really curious about whether this will make detangling better/easier and reduce hair handling damage. Plus, my detangler can double as a leave-in. I keep thinking about that handheld clothes steamer used on hair in that other thread. That might be useful, especially for this strategy (detangling post wash and post DC).

I don't know if I joined this already, but I definitely need to be here!

My healthy ends regimen consists of:
Low manipulation
Weekly coconut oil prepoo overnight
Wash and dc weekly
Spritz ends daily with xcel21
Moisturize with Long Term Relationship cream every other day
I seal with coconut oil a few times a week

My current protective style is the Morgan wig. I bought 2 from Hairsisters.com

One is black and the other is Sandy brown like my natural hair color.

I'm doing a silk press and trim next week on a lunar lengthening day 6/15. I'll post a pic of my ends after the trim

I'm just the trim/dust monster! Lol but I have been using my Bambu leave-in with pumpkin oil, or my tropical oil on my ends. My ends haven't been an issue for a long time. I use heat frequently too! I wish I could do a twistout. I hate trying out styles and they don't turn out good! I didn't care when I was younger. But I didn't care much about hair growth either. I had no problem growing it out, then wearing a pixie cut. I was always about the style. I didn't care about hair growth until some man said he didn't want me to cut my hair anymore! That was 17 years ago! It's crazy when people plant seeds in your head. I remember trying everything I could to grow my hair out. Once I broke up with him, I got a fade! Lol

My ends seem to be doing better. I still have some SSKs so I clip them as I come across them. When I twisted up tonight I used One N Only Argan Oil Split End Mender on the ends and then used the TGIN Twist and Define Cream over it.

For now I'm just keeping my hair in the same flat twist style for the week, moisturizing at the end of the 1st week and shampooing at the end of the 2nd. Hopefully I see continued improvement over the summer.

I did my ayurvedic scalp massage and overnight prepoo. Tonight I also put a ton of coconut oil on my ends and throughout the strand. I don't know why I stopped with the coconut oil treatments anyway... They give me hair that is bomb.com. Shine, strength, swing and all that shizzz.

I still have muchos split ends, so these coconut oil treatments are back until further notice. I am also doing a monthly search and destroy. I really want a split ender to save time, but the coins make me rethink my whole hair journey ($250). Is it worth it? I've used it, but it was years ago...and I only remember paying like $20 at Ross. How things change:boredwrk:

I'm straightening in a couple of weeks. I'm always nervous about my ends. I've been doing search and destroys since my last trim. I'm trying to trim or dust every 4 months. I'm just hoping that isn't too long.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I've been using shea butter and only detangling with my fingers. Thus far, I've not combed my hair since December 2016. My ends are thriving. My hair gained a whole inch in length from July 13th to August 31st and I was able to retain it. I'm so excited as I am only now 2 inches from tail bone length! I think I can hit tail bone length by December 31st, 2017, WITH healthy ends, too!

Congrats on your inches girl!

Everything seems to be off to a smooth start this week. I bought a serum made by Mane Choice and I really like it. My ends aren't snapping off.
