Patchouli emphasizes the use of deep conditioning just before flat ironing. I make a mask-like mositurizing conditioner and leave it on for an extended time, especially before flat ironing. Since using that technique, I've been able to get perm straight hair (looks more like my pony tail pic) with one pass of my flat iron at 400 degrees. It gets so straight that I'm nervous about revision, but my hair always reverts back to its natural kink. You should check out her video and her fotki. Her flat iron jobs will make you drool! :lick: After learning this method, I am no longer interested in BKT or perming (unless I decide to cut my hair like Rhianna)
Note: I always blow dry as straight as possible with a brush before hand. http://www.youtube.com/user/SalonCabelo#p/u/13/UYejkW9sBlA

:welcome4: I love your styles! How did you do the braid and curl?

Thanks. My braid n' curl is done pretty much the same way as a twist n' curl. The key for me is to make sure I leave 1/4 of my hair unbraided at the ends when I roll it in the perming rods. Also, I soak each section with setting lotion. These styles usually last 2 weeks and the setting lotion is what helps it to maintain for so long.

I also noticed these two YT posters recently..They both are natural and they both use the EXACT same products before a flatiron job- Nioxin for cleansing the scalp and Alterna Hemp moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. They get excellent results like yours. Great job and I love your hair.

Welcome to the board!!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

Welcome! You and your hair are beautiful! Hope you enjoy your time here; looks like you've learned a lot already!:grin:

Welcome, gorgeous hair! You said you're a product junkie-conditioners; what are some of your favorite? ...and which setting lotion(s) do you use for your styles? TIA.
