Lets talk about Camellia oil............

It is very big over here on Okinawa. When I first got my hair down by a Japanese stylist she highly recommended camellia oil. I have used it now for about 5 years on my skin and hair and love the results. It is so light never greasy.
Over here I buy it for about $7 for about 60ml. I love it!

Your page says west coast - if you're anywhere near the city of Gardena, go to the New Meiji Market on Redondo Beach Blvd between Normandie and Western - it's a Japanese shopping center that sells all sorts of things Japanese - including camellia oil.

I use about 16 ounces every six months or so because I also use it on my skin when I am especially dry. As I get older, I need more mositure for my skin, and camellia oil after Aminogenesis is the ticket. My hair, face, arms, elbows, knees, feet - all of me loves camellia oil. I'm thinking about blending it with squalene for the skin.

I use to live in LA, I live in Vegas now, I will see if they have some Japanese stores, I know they have a Chinese area. I'm thinking about ordering some today I have a couple of sites but not sure which one have the best, one is "Goldport Beauty" and Naturaljapanesebeauty, and one from ebay, then I read there are several kinds one is better for your hair and one for your skin, I heard it is good for frown lines on your forehead which is something I really need.

I just buy the one in the store - the label is in Japanese, so I can't tell you want it is. The first time, I went in, bowed, asked, was led to the product. Now, I just go in bow, get it myself, pay, smile, and wave. The little ladies are very nice.

Where on Sawtelle - I work near Sawtelle and Olympic on the weekend.

If you are driving on Sawtelle between Olympic and Santa Monica Blvd., there are a variety of Japanese businesses on both sides of the street. Lots of restaurants and stores. I've noticed a couple of groceries in there, plus on the west side of the street, maybe around LaGrange I noticed a shop that looked like it carried Japanese beauty products. I'll see it I can get a closer look over the weekend to be more specific. But I bet if you park about halfway in between the two and walk about you'll find something.

So here is an update. I did go over there today. The beauty store I was thinking of didn't carry it, but sent me to the grocery across the street. The guy there was very helpful, took me to the spot on the shelf where it was supposed to be, but it was all gone. I had to laugh, he told me that he suspected a lady named Jennifer had come in and bought him out. He told me she comes in periodically to stock up and has hair down to her butt so I guess that is a good advertisement. I'll try again once he has a chance to restock. He is on Sawtelle, next door to a restaurant called Sawtelle Kitchen between Olympic and La Grange.

I love Japanese Camillia oil!!!! It is expensive but a little goes a long way so I find it comparable in price to other much cheaper oils! All the tea oils are great but if you have discolouration, scars, dark marks from acne or old stretch marks Camillia Japonica can, from my experience, make them vanish within weeks of daily use....and I am only talking about using a few drops rubbed into that area or hair!
This oil is my #1 for my skin and I add a few drops to all conditioners, DIY DCs and poos that I put on my hair.
Try it out I'm 100% sure you will not regret it!HTH

It compares to none of those oils. All of those are far more thick and viscous than camellia. In terms of (somewhat) common oils, it's probably closest to jojoba in how it behaves and the sort of smell it has, tho they don't really smell alike. It's closest in weight to grapeseed which is thinner than jojoba.

In terms of more precious carriers, it's about like argan..tho it's even more expensive than argan.

I have been using grapeseed oil for at least a year now with great results on my skin and hair. It is much cheaper than argan, jojoba and camellia oils so I think I'll stick with it .

I use "Red Flo" Camellia Hair Conditioner, Camellia Hair Glazing Essence (leave-in), and Camellia Hair Emulsion Essence (leave-In). All of these products are what I can buy in Korea. The product contains Camellia oil and Camellia water. This product is excellent for my fine dense curls. Gives me a excellent shine and moisture retention.

I love Camellia, and use it exclusively to seal. It's extremely light, absorbs well and adds incredible softness. I use "Oshima Tsubaki Camellia Oil". It's a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way.

Japanese Camellia Oil is so hard to find and it's suppose to be superior to regular Camellia Seed Oil.

I guess I'll add in my after finally trying the stuff. I do like it, smooths and softens. But its expensive, I've discovered that for me hempseed oil does the same thing and is a whole lot cheaper.
