I wash my hair every 14 days. I'm transitioning so as little manipulation as possible is helping me a LOT.
I stopped greasing my scalp, which was one reason why I washed each week. My scalp would itch often and sometimes I would be so self-conscious thinking it smelled... although people I asked said it didn't.
My hair is neck-length and has random flipped pieces on the sides and back. By my next wash, my hair is still flipped in the back although not as much, but still cute. To keep my hair fresh:
1. I finger comb each morning with moisturizer on my fingers. This way I can style and moisturize together
2. I sleep on a satin pillowcase when my hair is flipped. When it's not, I sleep with a silk bonnet or scarf.
3. I refuse to sleep uncomfortable for the sake of my hair so should I need to touch up some pieces or curls, I throw in Caruso rollers where needed. This saves me from heat usage and I get curls in seconds.
Those are my main tips for now. Hope someone chimes in with more.

Well I fell into my lazy mode, but I'm trying to do 2 weeks, but the thing is, don't apply nothing to your scalp, just moisturize and oil your ends.....I don't know if you like bunning, but I bun all the time 24/7, sometimes I just take my scarf down and moisturize my ends and seal, and bun back up, no combing no nothing, so not bothering my hair I can go two weeks if I really wanted to, I just washed after 12 days of my last wash, only because I got lazy, but I'm seeing that's so easy and simple to not bothering my hair, I believe in a clean scalp, but I don't believe in washing everyday, wetting everyday is ok, but I don't think I can shampoo everyday, that's just my opinion......

I won't be much help because I go two weeks and I don't do anything special to maintain. I just try not to add a lot of products when i moisturize and seal because of build-up but that's it. I don't put much on my scalp either, maybe some oil once or twice a week. I don't have any problems with smell or anything so I guess it depends on the person.
