Jumpin' on bandwagons

I'm fairly new to the boards and I found myself wanting to jump on everybody's bandwagon. What I've been doing though, is introducing new products and procedures gradually so I will know what works for me and what doesn't work for me. If you change everything at once, you won't know what to pinpoint as the culprit.

If there are a lot of good reviews about a particular product, I'm very tempted....my next bandwagon.....Salerm.

When I first joined the hair board I bought almost every raved about and wasted a lot of money.
I now tend to jump on bandwagons of those persons whose hair type is like mine and this has helped a lot.
I admit I wait to see if Tracy,Seng, chayna ,Dana or Lindy rave about a product.
I also like to trade products with Sassy and she is natural I trust her reviews.

I'm always eagar to hear what KAddy or Kenesha have to say about products or ingredients, because they are intelligent and do their research. And, as mentioned above, their progress is evident.

Awww, thanks Melodee.

I'm usually pretty quick to jump on. (Yeah I'm a Surger) Just call me the Crash Test Dummy. I tend to stick with things that work well on natural hair though. So if I see a natural with a banging afro recommend something I'm usually eager to give it a try. Specially if it has to do with moisture.

Hmmm... are there any moisture bandwagons going on right now?

I don't usually jump on bandwagons. I just stick w. what works best in my hair. Now, if I'm in the process of looking for a particular type of product, then I'll listen to suggestions. Lately, it seems the word "Phyto Relaxer" is being thrown in all directions on the board...which can be tempting....at first it sounded interesting but I'm just not convinced. Besides, Affirm works so well w. my hair that I don't see how any other relaxer could make my hair any better. I'm always in awe when I get my touchups. My hair was in horrible shape before I switched to Affirm lye. My hair has literally been brought back from the dead. So now I'm like: If it ain't broke... :yep:

When someone says something negative about Phyto I'm all over it (thank goodness for the edit feature and self monitoring via the delete button on my keyboard :look: ).

I know exactly what you mean Sengs. I find myself just not posting when I feel this way. I understand that people have a right to their opinions, especially if they have actually tried the product.

I really like to see someone with short hair rave about a product, especially if it entails growth. I like to see someone with short hair document their progress with a specific product. Then I will be more prone to go out and get it, but I'm still trying to curb that pj in me.

ETA: Some of my product purchases are based on who's doing the recommending.

This is what I've gone with sometimes too.

More so now than before, I go by my instincts and Haircare dreams I have had, and this is working for me. I don't jump on "Bandwagons" as I used to. I do however join challenges from time to time, and I have started a couple .

If I'm honest I'll say that I look at who recommends the product because that is the biggest test for me. I know there are lots of times I ignore threads because of who is doing the recs.

I tend to like things that Sengs, Webby, CH and a few others recommend because we tend to use the same things or whatever they recommend will work for me. Lindy also has given me good suggestions.

I'll try a new product if it increases growth, helps detangle/provides slip, or relaxes better than Affirm.

My fine 4b hair grows slower than I'd like, tangles easily, and has been thinned out by lye relaxers in the front and sides. I'm always looking for better options.

I usually wait until many people are raving, but that's just because I've gotten lazy as my hair has grown longer.

:yep:

Ditto I tend to listen to my hair twins (Labett/Britt) or those with a similar hair type as myself.
Its so weird because whatever products they hate I HATE and whatever products they like I also like
This strategy has saved me a ton of money and hair.
Now if someone with long/healthy hair recommends a stylist I am on it

I forgot two bandwagons from the past:
Hennalucent (still has loyal followers, but not the phenomenon it was)
LUST (same as Hennalucent)
