You know I had to laugh because you knew we were coming!!!

MonaLIsa.............I know you love the Shakiakiakia Bar. Check your local Indian Store. I found the exact same bar we paid 5.00 for 1.49 at the Indian Mart.

Wow this is early

Hit:
WEN Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner. This is a lighter formulation than the FIG and gave my hair so much body, volume, and my hair actually feels twice as thick (a super plus for my fine hair :)). I washed my hair with the FIG but used the SAM as a leave in. LOVE IT.

$UPER Hit:
Not buying a million products. I know some ladies view the WEN as expensive, buy I swear I spent more money on hair products when I was trying all the new and fleeting discoveries w/ every post on this forum: Vast Dominican conditioners, UBH, BBD, Mizani, LUST, TIGI, Biolage, Giovanni, Rusk, NTM, Paul Mitchell, Kenra, Nioxin, Joico etc. To this point WEN is definitely cheaper at one $25 bottle verses 5 & 6 bottles a month at $5-$15 per bottle. My hair and my wallet are happy

Miss:
None as I've tried nothing new outside of WEN.;)

Hit: Aveda DR line...definitely a keeper as long as my wallet can stand the pressure. :look:

I have more but will be back later....:p

Vix...YW

DI...I wanted to try out the WRTC exactly like that! I love adding EVOO to my conditioners and I just knew it would be a winner with this one. Thanks for the review.

LikeNoOther...I am so mad at you for coming in here talking about the WEN like that. I will not buy anymore products this month.....I will not buy any more products this month...I will not! lol (seriously, glad you found a hit!)

Kels....DR is ths ish isn't it!!
--------------------------------------------

Hit....(revisted hit kinda) Mizani Night Time Cream. (I will go find the real name and post it later.) I have used this before but my hair wasn't shedding or breaking. I have been shedding lately and pulled out the Mizani Cream. Not a single hair came out on my comb this morning! Not One I say!!
Keeper. :yep: (Thanks for the product Rave SuperGirl!)

Ok, so as ya'll know, Aveda is my dearest love. :p

Damage Remedy Shampoo, Conditioner, and Treatment
Brilliant Emollient Gloss
Brilliant Damage Control
Brilliant Hair Spray
Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
Elixir Leave On Conditioner

There will be more to come when I finally try Smooth Infusion, but that's all for now.

Guys, I just can't believe how soft yet strong my hair is. A complete 180! Aveda is worth every penny. Seriously, or I would've taken it all back by now.

Peace & Blessings...

Hits:
Aveda Smooth Infusion Poo and Conditioner
Aveda Light Elements finishing solution
Aveda Elixir: I've had this but havent used it but once and thought I didnt care for it. Used it the other day and now I love it. I dont know why the change of heart....haha

No misses: now buying things only from Aveda and will continue to use a couple of my moisturizers.

HIT:
-Mane N' Tail moisturizing conditioner - Yummy. I deep conditioned with this and loved it. I stopped using the original one and this on is much better anyway

ON THE FENCE:
-Gold N Hot Heat Cap - it was nice a easy to use, but the very back does not get very warm. :look:

Now, why do I try new stuff?!!? I need to stick with what works!
Miss:
Silk Elements Heat Protectant Spray
ION Straight Lotion.

The combo made my hair hard and dry. :nono: I had to rewash and deep condition my hair!! Back to what works (a mix of Fantasia IC and Chi Silk Infusion!!!) I know Sally's takes stuff back, but I threw both bottles in the T-R-A-S-H!!

Revisted Miss:

This used to work for me, but for some reason it is too heavy now - Redken Heat Glide - what happened!! This used to work well for me. I threw this out too.

I am no longer playing - if it does not work it gets thrown out!!!

Thank you Letitia. You may want to try WEN one day :sekret:

Seriously, when I orginally joined this board in 2004, w/i the first 6 months I spent $392 on hair care products alone. Ordering on line, expensive flat irons etc. When I would go to NY or anywhere out of town, if I found a product that was mentioned on this board that I couldn't find locally, I would buy it. It was ridiculous. That's why IMO WEN is not expensive since it works, it's one bottle, and I've spent more nickel and dimeing on multiple hair product purchases per month from rec's on this board vs repurchasing a $25 bottle every 2 mths. I was just looking in my bathroom and I have multiple products from all these lines not mentioned in my previous post: Keracare, Biosilk, Pantene, Dove, Redken, Ojon S&C, Salerm 21, Lacio, Chi, Feria conditioner, Sebastian Laminates, Elasta QP, Motions, Regis Olive Oil, Proclaim, Optimum Care, Affirm Relaxer and ancillary products etc. and on and on and on.... It is madness!

I won't throw them away though, just in case I ever hit hard times :lachen:. Lord knows I have enough to last several years - really.

I ordered some of those Chagrin Valley soap bars...well, actually i got samples of a whole lot of them:look:

The Hits:
*Carrot Milk & honey shampoo bar
*Lavender & spice shampoo bar
*Dead Sea Spa body bar (used for shampoo)
****These all left my hair feeling very soft and that feeling lasted a couple of days at least. My hair & scalp feels clean as well. The best part is that if you store them right, you don't go through these too quickly.

One other hit is a Brazilian conditioner called Cupuacu that I found while I was at Cape Cod in Massachusetts. It has cones in it but my hair loved it, made it super easy to detangle.....great stuff but I can't find this stuff on line anywhere. Thank God I don't live that far away but I'm still trying to find it online somewhere.

Misses:
*Honey Butter body bar (used for shampoo)- now this is supposed to be super fatted so I thought it would leave my hair extra moisturized & soft...it actually left it kinda hard so I think it might be too much in there for my hair.

*Babassu Marshmallow shampoo bar- this dried out my hair a little bit.

*Goat Milk Oatmeal Honey body bar- this felt just ok, not great, not terrible, just ok.

I still have 5 more samples to try but I've been enjoying my hits very much so I won't get to them for a while.

:wallbash:

off to order some bars of soap...

Hit: Shikakai oil it made my scalp tingle, I love the way it feels on my scalp, and I actually like the smell.

Miss: Miss Jessie's Meringue pudding, I am going to try it again...not sure if I used too much but my hair is a bit crunchy.

Hits:

  • Mane N Tail Poo, Conditioner, Detangler & Leave In Strengthener
Miss:

  • Elasta QP Glaze...Bummer: It is just like Jam. (oily residue and only slicks your hair for a short period of time.

Mona and Letitia - what is the name of the Shikakiakiaki Poo Bar? I have the actually Shikakakiakikakaaki at home but I am a little scared to fool with it.

Mona - where are you getting the Shikakakiakikakaaki Oil?

Hits (revisted)
Giovanni Direct - I strayed away looking at all the new leave ins, when my tried and true was sitting at the house. Makes my hair soft and bouncy. This is wonderful with the fermodyl 619!!!!

Process - Using the Aveda DR system the right way, at least the right way for me, clarify, poo, DC with the reconstructor, rinse, use the conditioner in the shower for 5 minutes, rinse, results strong moisturized hair.

Hit
End all - hairtoheaven - this stuff is fabulous. I was going to cut 2 inches off because my ends looked sooo dry and awful to me. Now I am going to trim 0.5" just to even them up. I use it on the rest of my hair also. It doesn't weight my hair down and it actually gives it shine. Thanks P1 this stuff is soooo good! It smells wonderful, I am tempted to taste it.

You can look in my fotki if you want to see it. I uploaded it last night. (last picture in my products.) HTH;)

Its called Swastik (means Purity):)
Thanks for pointing out the prices Letitia, I have to find a new supplier, lol!

But Ive had experiences in the Indian stores and I will say that if you get one from the store, look for the expiration date on the hair products especially the soap.

Hits:
CON Detangling Conditioning Shampoo (Green Label) - Yeah, I know. Nothing new here, but it seems that it took me months to realize how good it is at eliminating tangles and moisturizing. Too bad I only have enough for one more use. :( I would repurchase, but I still have some CON HerbaRich Moisturizing Poo and Therappe to use up first.

Motions Moisture Plus (Tub) - I have finally found a staple moisturizing DC. The search ends here. I cannot recommend this enough. I used this after I did an Emergencee treatment on wet hair. I did not feel like sitting under the dryer, so I just put it on and slid a plastic cap over my head for 15 minutes. My hair was like butter. It was so slippy. I am satisfied. I did want to try out Silicon Mix, but I wasn't able to get it in time. Oh well...

Conditioner Bowl - I mix coconut milk, honey and EVOO in my DCs so I needed something that was durable and reusable (I was using styrofoam bowls). This was it and it was only $2.

Miss:
White Rain Tropical Coconut Conditioner. - I did a cowash with it, and I don't like how my hair felt with it. Once dry, my hair felt soft and moisturized as usual, so I'm not sure about it. Upon closer inspection, I saw that it does not contain glycerin, which may be the culprit. I do like the consistency though. I will revisit it, but I think I will be mixing it with my Suave Tropical Coconut, glycerin and coconut oil and use that as a cowash cocktail.

Still to Try:
Garnier Fructis Fortifying DC -why did I buy this... I have no idea when I will use it. The only reason why I purchased it was because it was on sale.

CON Detangling Conditioning Shampoo (Red Label) - Impulse buy. Sally's was closing in two minutes and I was doing an exchange without a receipt so I needed to buy something to make up for the difference. This was the first thing I saw. I just want to compare it. If I don't like it then it's going back.

Motions Silk Protein Conditioner - If I don't like the CON, then I will take it back and exchange it for this. I have heard such great things about it. I need a moderate protein DC and this might be it.
