I'm not following. Why wouldn't this be a bc? Just because someone bc's doesn't mean they are doing it to become natchal

I've always known the cutting of relaxed ends down to the natural new growth to be referred to as the Big Chop because you're taking that huge step to leaving the chemicals behind, hence it being referred to as a BIg chop and not just a normal hair cut. Anything else to me is just a hair cut.

Thank you. I was confused :scratchch- I thought a BC meant Big Chop, as in you are getting rid of most or all of your hair. I didn't think a BC was relative to whether you become natural or not. I could be wrong though.

I always assumed big chops were referring to chopping off all your relaxed hair and leaving only the natural remaining.

Her hair looks texturized but very cute. I like it and I'm happy for her ;)

When I BC'd down to 1-inch all over on bra-strap relaxed hair to get rid of damaged stringy hair I definately considered myself getting a gigantic big chop :yep:

Hated it! Not feeling it at all. Is that really her? She looks really small and what happened to her wagon she normally drags???

Well that is the beauty of our opinions. We don't always see eye to eye on things. I just feel that if you have cut off all your hair down to the quick you have big chopped. A hair cut and a bc to me are totally different.

Good point, but still in Janet's case, her hair looks rather overprocessed...we all know her natural texture is afrolicious lol. If she (or anyone) cut off a signigicant amount of hair due to damage and was starting over with healthier hair, I could see that being a BC but I think Janet just did this cut for style and possibly convenience *Kanye shrug*

No I don't like and I don't think this is a BC at all. It looks relaxed all the way to the scalp....overprocessed even.

Hmmm, I don't know...I think my hair might look like this if I cut it this short, but you maybe right... idk.

I like it, though. People with little heads can get away with this type of cut. This cut on my big ole melon would be an epic FAIL :lachen:

i like it...go janet! anythings better than 10 lbs of fake hair hanging off your head, suffocating your scalp!

Janet is beautiful regardless. Heavy or skinny, long hair or short, natural or relaxed, she is still beautiful. I've never worn a weave, but just looking at her hair on this I feel the liberation her scalp must feel. :lachen:

Go Janet!

I love the new look on Janet and I dont care whether its her natural texture or a texturizer or relaxer. Black women can do anything we want with our hair and rock it.

As for the texture...
It could be her texture- how many of us have the same texture that we had when we were little kids? Its possible that it changed with age.

You're right about this, I heard that your hair texture changes every seven years. As far as Janet's new cut, I actually think it's cute.

i thin the close-ups are better but i still don't like it. i think if her hair was thicker, i would love it on her but she looks like she is losing hair or something (i.e.i can see a lot of her scalp). at least from afar, that's what it looks like but yes, the close-ups look better

She looks gorgeous! I think the cut suits her very well!:yep: Natural or not, you go, Janet! I think she's got fine hair, anyway, so it is possible she's natural.

My hair is so super fine and thin...when I first cut it off I was so embarrassed...My dh was like ....You worry about the wrong things...so what if people can see your head or scalp ...it can't be no worse than seeing tracks ...and it will grow...until then stop worrying over something you can't change

I like it. Can't tell if she has a relaxer or not because when my hair was that short and I put mousse on it and tied it down with a scarf my hair looked like that. Either way I think it looks nice on her.

I love "her" but not her hair style. :nono: At the same time I believe this is a grief cut. I see people do this a lot.
I may be old fashioned, but it doesn't look very feminine.
I'm not trying to come down on her, but it appears to be over-processed (not natural).

Either way, it will grow back. I believe this is a grief cut...something she felt necessary at this time. :yep:
So if it works for her, well then OK
