Jada's Hair Regiment

Here's the info. She was never on the Fresh Prince. She auditioned to play the role of his girlfriend but Nia Long got the part. Oh well...Jada got the man. lololol
"Will and Jada, who first met in 1995 on the set of Smith's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (she auditioned for the role of Will's girlfriend but was turned down."

Oh thanks, I just looked it up too.

In recent pictures of the Pursuit of Happyness premiere, her hair appeared to be chin length, and a little thinner than I've seen it. :ohwell: If she says its her hair, then its her hair, but I remember Tyra's book - (she wrote it like 10 years ago. I was a kid and I LOVED ME SOME TYRA, so my mom bought it for me. ) she mentions that a LOT of celeb women fake the funk and proclaim that their hair is all their own when it's not. I'm not saying Jada is or has done that, though. Her hair was on point, regardless.

But anyways, regarding her hair, time always seems to go by faster in celeb years (at least for me). We don't see these people everyday, so things can seem as if they happen faster. So to me its highly probable that she grew her hair that long. Like when celebrities get pregnant, then they have the baby i'm always like "dang, I thought she just got pregnant last month???" lol

That is so true. When I think of it, I don't remember seeing her for a long time once she got pregnant with their first child, and especially after the second. I am in no way saying her hair is real or not, all I'm saying is that if her little girl is as old as she is, then it's possible. I've seen people's hair on this board who's hair has grown extremely long in three to four years.

Jada's But, I suspect she did other things/used other products b/c I thought she just recently became an investor in Carol's Daughter. I remember seeing her in braids quite often in the past, so perhaps she just did the basics plus protective styles.
She was also in Bantus the whoel "Matrix" period. There was about a year right there we didn't see her hair out.

I am so glad you posted this. Better yet, it would be good to ask Jada to log on under your alias and respond to the naysayers but then again, if folks are skeptics ain't no changing their mind if their mind is made up.

I was just about to ask - does anyone know Jada and if so can you please ask her to log on to share her 'secrets' of good common sense when it comes to hair?

Jada is my cousin and it is her hair, and it didn't take her one year to grow it took a few. She did wear braids a lot, but she just takes basic good care of her hair and she has the type of hair that will just grow no matter how you treat your hair (like my sister:mad:) not saying that she mistreated it. But if you followed her magazine interviews and things like that, you can see her different lengths of hair, from real short, to chin length, to long bob... Some of us don't have to go through strict regimines, voodoo rituals or sell our souls to grow hair.

Call me a hater, but that seems like a lot of hair to have grown in a year from the short cut that she had. But whatever, you believe it's real and I believe it's remy!:look:

Jada had short hair back in 1996/1997. I remember b/c I had recently located to DC and saw some pics of her in those hair magazines. Then about 1 year later there was a pic of her and her hair was growing out and it was just above chin length - I remember b/c I admired the coat she was wearing and though her chin-length bob made her look matronly.

And now you come to this pic of her in CD's catalogue from last year (2005). That is about 7 to 8 year's worth of growth. She was not bald last year in 2005.

I am not sure where people are getting their timelines. But either way - she got it going on, hair is beautiful, husband handsome, children gorgeous and body fit and tight. I ain't mad.

I believe it is hers...black people CAN grow long hair without help from extensions, weaves or wigs and fairly rapidly too if we stop abusing our hair.

AHHH! You are right--she TRIED OUT for Fresh Prince, but was actually in a Different world. I remember back then her hair was super-short. I recall thinking back then how pretty she was & able to really pull off the short hair styles. Over the years I recall her wearing braids & other protective styles periodically. I wish she would put all this curiosity I have to rest and just give up the regiment! LOLOL!

I believe that is Jada's hair and it didn't go from a twa to midback in a year. I recall seeing her hair a several different lengths before I finally saw it super long. We all know that pretty much all celebraties do extensions from time to time but its also possible for a lot of them to have naturall long hair too. Hey, I don't recall ever seeing her on the fresh prince and I still watch all of the reruns every night on Nick at Night. I remember Elise Neal, Nia Long, Jasmine Guy, Cree Summers, Robin Givens, Garcelle Beauvais, Kim Fields, Vivica Fox, homegirl from Y&R...of course the list goes on but I don't remember single time Jada was on there. Jada fades in and out of the spotlight. So, its hard to determine how long it took for her hair to grow out. I do have a friend who had a short curly do, very short, while she was pregnant and by the time her son was 2, her hair was a very healthy bra strap length. It can be done.

That is so true. Still, can you get your cousin to log on here & discuss her regiment? I am very impressed.

My sister also grows hair very well, has done so since we were little, growing hair without much effort at all. She wears a long braid down her back, not much of a regiment to speak of, outside of braiding & moisturizing her hair.

her short cut was donkey's years ago.
I dunno where you were but she didn't grow that hair overnight.

In 2000 in bamboozled that was her own hair.

Magnificent - thanks for posting these. Her short hair really was tight! Love it!

Yeah people's timelines are really off on this board. Jada was not sporting her short hair back in 2004/2005.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I can't come to a conclusion on her hair, but this is Long Hair Care Forum, and there are plenty of chicks on here that have longer/thicker/healthier hair and have grown it out in a shorter amount of time. So it's not unrealistic.

Thanks Londondiva....

Also I read an article Jada wrote, about how she had to fight alot coming up in Baltimore due to, as she states, being light-skinned with long hair.....so perhaps she had long hair, cut it when she got older, and grew it back w/a combo of basic care, protective styles and just having hair that naturally grows long....

Jay Manual was the stylist who worked with Jada & confirmed that it was in fact her hair.

If I get a chance to ask her, though (which I highly doubt but if I do), I will ask about her regiment out of curiosity.

In the end, this everlasting debate about Jada and other women of color with hair length just shows that many AA women have a problem believing black women can grow their hair long, naturally - without gimmicks. We just refuse to believe that their hair is theirs which is why many of us face what we do when we walk out in public from other AA women.

It is based in jealousy and insecurity about their lack of what they covet. Many of us had long hair as children and had to deal w/ mean black girls with *snap* much hair because their parents burned their hair out with hot combs, over processing and tight braided styles.

Even in this type of forum where we SEE other black women with waist length hair, black women still can't accept that another black woman can achieve this like anyone else.

Sad but true.

Such a shame that people have so much doubt about us growing long hair.

After giving birth to my daughter.....my hair grew from chin length to 3 inches past my breast within 8 months. I wore my hair in a pony tail every day...not thinking about it...just keeping it out of the way. I was taking care of my baby not worrying about my hair. Next thing I know...it's super long. Remember...she did have 2 children. Some women's hair grow very fast during and/or after pregnancy.

Jada just has some beautiful hair and she found a stylist to take care of it and it grew.

Don't hate...participate. Take care of your hair and body and you can have long hair too.

wow! So simply because I don't believe it's her hair I also believe that black women can't grow long hair? I'm jealous and insecure because I covet it? wow! What a way to assume and you know how the saying goes. Why do people get so all up in there feelings about what I believe is real or not? Just because I don't believe that this one particular person is sporting all of her hair and her hair only doesn't mean that I think that we as black women can't grow hair. Gosh I hate when people try to interpret what I say for way more than I actually said! The things we say to sound informed!

I was sitting on the couch eating my Cheerios and I rememberes a past member VALLEYGIRL who met Jada

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=33537&page=3&highlight=jada

OK I was gonna start a new thread but I'm just posting it here.

I saw Jada perform Friday night in LA and I met her after the show. My friend put me on blast and told her that the members of my internet hair club thought her hair was fake and I defended her. She said "oh No!" She told me that it was NOT a weave and let me touch it. IT IS ALL HER HAIR! No tracks, no braids, no fusion stuff. unless she had hair grafting (hair plugs that blading white men do) that is all her hair - no weave, no wig or anything.
Just wanted to let you guys know.
We also met Will Smith. Very nice and friendly. Both of them. Jada is so tiny! Especially for someone who has had two kids.
It was a good show and Jada can actually sing! That was the most shocking part of the evening. I had doubts about her singing ability.

I remember how short Jada's hair was when she first appeared on the Fresh Prince. Now, her hair is long and flowing and, yes she said it is her hair.

Has anyone heard of what her regiment is?

This is what was posted on carolsdaughter.com, but I suspect more was involved than this & if anyone knows please chime in:

Treat Worn Out Hair to This Deep-Conditioning Treatment

1) To prep the hair for treatment, shampoo and gently massage the scalp with exhilarating Rosemary Mint Herbal Shampoo (detangling formula). Rinse and repeat if needed.

2) Deep condition with a Hair Smoothie (for normal hair try Tui Hair Smoothie; for dry hair try Khoret Amen Hair Smoothie) and apply to hair from roots to ends. Leave in 15 minutes to one hour, depending on the level of damage. Rinse thoroughly. If you've got fine hair, shampoo again.

3) To replace essential oils, pour a small amount of Lisa's Hair Elixir into the palms of your hand and massage into hair and scalp. For extra hydration, squeeze a small amount of Hair Balm into palm of hands and apply to hair, concentrating on ends. Do not rinse out.
I honestly dont believe Jada does this. It sounds too much like an advertisement to me...
