is it OK to EVOO new growth before re-touch?

I read somewhere that if you home relax, adding a little oil to the relaxer helps with the dryness. I don't home relax, so if I apply some EVOO to my new growth before the relaxer will it have the same effect? Has anyone ever tried it?

I've never tried it, but it sounds good.
