Is 2 months too soon to retouch a relaxer?

TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I wanted to stretch my relaxers at least four months, but since I did not get my left side as strait as the right side, it is almost impossible to stretch my relaxer without needing to use heat. Any suggestions will be helpful. Just note that at this time, I am unable to braid my hair. I am trying to learn, though. I used to relax my hair every 4 weeks and treated my hair like crap, yet it grew. I want to take good care of my hair for a change. I want to learn healthy hair practices for relaxed hair. Can anyone give me any tips or have any suggestions, please?

A coupl eof years ago, a large area of my hair was underprocessed. I just couldn't deal with all the new growth (was still learning to care for my hair) so I gave in and relaxed after 8 weeks. My hair kinda turned out okay...

Things I REALLY wish I did at that time:
1. Clarify, deep condition (protein then moisture) a few days before relaxer
2. Protect already relaxed ends with conditioner and/or oil on relaxer day.

Good luck.

From the little I've learnt so far, I'd say 2 months should be fine. It looks like 8 to 12 weeks seems to be the average for most ladies.

Do whatever works for you. If you have enough new growth and can proceed with relaxing without overprocessing, I say go ahead and do it. Go with the amount of new growth you have instead of going on a set schedule, that never works :nono:. 8 weeks of new growth in the summer may not be the same amount of 8 weeks of new growth in the winter.

Yes, you really have to do what is best for you. I am really thinking about going for 6 month b/c really I want to only do twice a year.

I just did a 6 month and finished in March

What helped me during my stretches is

Protien treatments are very good
Mositurizing

You really have to do what is best for your hair however, when your hair feels and looks over processed I would listen to it.

Getting a relaxer 8 weeks is better than stretching and creating damage to your ends. I highly recommend that you relax at 8 weeks especially if you were partially underprocessed and then, stretch for the next cycle.

My sentiments exactly:yep:

:yep: what she said. And 2 months is a good time to retouch. I don't know how long you usually stretch for but if you've never had a long stretch before take baby steps. Add on a week at a time and access your hair before adding another week. HTH
