Hey ladies,

Was just running my hands through my hair & feeling that New Growth, when I realised that my growth is more than inconsistent, in some parts I have like nearly an inch of growth :D and in others places virtually nothing... am I the only one? I understand that its not realistic to expect totally consistent results but their is major differences. Could their be a reason for this? Someone I can work on to improve?

Any one have consistent growth, whats your secret   ?

i actually think its like that for everyone.not every strand of your hair is going to grow at the same pace or time, so dont worry :)

I understand what you're talking about. I used to wonder about the same thing when I was relaxed. But now that I'm natural I understand what was going on. I have different textures in my hair. So when I was relaxed some parts of my hair were more curly and it was easy to feel the new growth and others sections grew out wavy and back then it felt the same as my relaxed hair.

Everyone's hair is different but for me my hair grew all over but it was harder to notice the growth (by touching) b/c of the different textures. If you had a couple inches of new growth you might find that some parts are wavy but are growing right along with the rest of your hair.

ETA:
I'll see if I can upload a pic of my hair down so you can see the big wavy streak of hair in my crown compared to the curly sides and back.

Thanks for the reply ladies, I really do hope its just that I'm not able to feel it properly.. if thats so then I've gained some good growth :D :D .

SEMO_that pic would be helpful if your able to find it

Mine grows uneven too. I have individuals and I was just thinking last night how my braids are ready to be taken down, they're frizzy and there's alot of new growth but in some areas in the middle and the back the braids are still tight to my scalp like I just put them in. Seems to not have grown at all.

Me three! My crown grows faster than my sides, which is why my hair grows in a natural V-shape. My temples grow fast as well.

My crown is the fastest growing location on my head also. The back/nape area is the slowest. There have been times where I've had 3 inches worth of new growth in my crown area and 1/4 inch in the nape.

Here's a picture of my natural hair. I think you can see the wavy patch surrounded by curls. Sorry the picture is blurry (and so big--I don't know how to make it smaller).

ETA: Here's some more photos. It shows the wavy section better.

See how my hair looks almost straight near the roots in the third picture. It may be that your hair is like mine and the waviness/straightness masks the new growth in some sections.

I hope these pics help you understand what I mean.

You're not the only one. It's most noticeable to me when I'm wearing box braids. The top front of my hair grows faster than the back and sides. After 3-4 weeks I'll see major growth on top of my head and not a whole lot on the sides. But after 8-10 weeks the new growth is rampant everywhere. Hair goes through growth cycles and not all strands are growing at the same time or the same rate.

When I get newgrowth its mostly in the back area because its trying to catch up with the sides.
but now that my hair was cut and the sides are shorter than the back im sure ill have more newgrowth on the sides and top area.
