I'm running low on conditioners and I'm tempted to head to Target to buy at least 5 Shea Moisture staples. Butttttt with my luck, Walgreen's will have a BOGO free as soon as I pay full price so I'mma just wait it out. :lachen:

Edited to add: I just checked Walgreens and they have Shea Moisture for Buy one get one half off. Nahhhhh I'mma still wait on the BOGO free lol I'm so frugal! Tee hee:giggle:

I bought a lot of products when I first started my HHJ, but now that I have found some staples, I don't need to purchase as much. Current products on my to-buy list are:
-Hot comb
-Trader joes tea tree tingle shampoo (I'm looking for a shampoo that doesn't make my hair frizzy, I'm open to suggestions).
-Joico moisture recovery balm

@mysblossom and @PureSilver So, I ordered the Salon Sundry Profession Salon Hair Steamer on Amazon. First things first...the instructions are non-existent and I read reviews about the model I purchased and I can confirm that there is no max fill line on the fill container. I used it for the first time last night and the condensation container on the front of the unit is really oddly placed and made me sit in a funny position. The position caused me to have to hold my head in a position where the hair just above and to the front of my ears did not get as much steam love. I'm going to try a different chair to see if I can work that out. The height adjustment is kind of interesting too because it is spring loaded but that its not really a problem for usage but for storage it could be a problem if you want to put it in a closet. That said, my hair was soooooooooooooo soft afterward that I can't wait to use it again. I'm going to try some different conditioners to see if it makes a difference but I'm definitely sold on steaming after only one use.

Oooooooo! So happy for you for the results! Please let me know if the seating/positioning ever gets confortable. Yay!!!! Seems like a good purchase. I want one, now!

I gave in and purchased the Shea Moisture Professional "Clear Start" shampoo. My hair was DEFINITELY clarified. It feels SUPER weightless. I'll need to use it a few more times before I can tell if it does too good a job.

I did resist purchasing an additional product from the line. It was VERY hard to resist!!!: There was a $10 off with the purchase of two items.

I resisted because the reviews so far are sparse and so-so. So I spent $20 versus $30 and put the $10 toward some KCCC.

@mysblossom Update on my Salon Sundry steamer...I love it! As I said before, the instructions are non-existent. The hood is adjustable, it tilts. This makes my issue with the positioning of the catch basin and finding a comfortable chair non-existent.

Uh oh! Oh no! I think I am going to have to invest in one now. Maybe I will request it as a Christmas gift.

Sooooo glad it worked out as a great purchase for you!

I am tempted to buy a Maxiglide Flat iron but I have 3 flatirons already... :/
I don't think I need a forth but the teeth and the steam takes out my need of using two arms.. LOL

I am also definitely a PJ. I had kinda cured my PJism, but then I started doing research into straightening my hair..... I have my staples/regimens for my curly hair and for my hair in protective styles, but straight hair? Nada. So I made some purchases that I am just shocked at lol.:badgirl: And technically silicones are on my no no list, but not for when my hair is straight, since I need it in my straight hair DCs and serums.

Overall I am pretty happy with my purchases lol-- I just feel some type of way about falling off the wagon even if it was for a good reason:lachen:

It was for a good reason! Enjoy! There's so much actual bad stuff we could be spending our money on. Love for our locks? That's a good investment, IMHO.

I just created this thread to help those who really NEED to slow it down and for whom getting it out there in black and white might help. Sometimes people reply with helpful advice, tips, alternate purchases, upcoming sales dates, discounted sources, etc.

I definitely need this thread too, because I'm....getting married next year and I need to save! But my hair!!!! lol so I will be on the sidelines, waiting for when I really think I have my straight hair regimen down, and then I will actually be able to participate fully. Thank you for this thread! @mysblossom

What! Congratulations, @alex114!

Oh, you're more than welcome!

This thread should still be here later on once you're ready ;). In the meanwhile, enjoy the sidelines and good luck getting down an AWESOME regimen.
