So, last night I went out to dinner with an old friend. I hadn't seen him in a long while, so there was a lot of catching up to do. But don't you know I couldn't stop thinking about my hair??!!! The problem really stemmed from me wearing it down instead of in a bun. Here was my friend, talking to me and showing me pictures and my mind kept drifting to the possibility of split ends. I found myself eyeballing that oily salad dressing and fighting the urge to put a little of it on my ends and put my hair up with a satin scrunchie that I might be able to run and purchase at the Rite-Aid down the street! And speaking of that, we went for a walk and passed that drug store and two others and my mind drifted to: "Hmmm...I wonder if they have that Motions Silk Protein conditioner in there?" And "Maybe I should run in there and buy some S-Curl...". HOW PATHETIC! I don't think my friend noticed my distraction, but I did really feel ridiculous when I caught my mind drifting in this way! Has anyone else experienced something like this? Man, I need help.

Yes, Yes, Yes, I've experienced this and you shouldn't feel bad. Most of us have gone through, at least I did:ohwell: . You love what your doing for your hair and you want to make sure that hair gets the best treatment:grin: . It will be like this when your in the beginning stages and/or still searching for products for your hair. Don't worry it'll pass:) . Your just more hair conscience. Once you have your routine/regiment down, you won't think about it as much. :)

I too have had many OCD moments about my hair. I just wore my hair down for the first time in about 6 months at work the other day and everyone couldn't believe how long it's gotten. They're so used to me and my bun. Anywho...I told them to take a mental "post-it" b/c it would probably be back in a bun by lunchtime. Well, I couldn't last that long...I start work @ 8am...it was in a bun by 10!!!

This is a weekly thing for me now. Yesterday my BF came over and found my secret stash of hair products. As he was looking through he noticed my brand new Elasta QP Mango Butter and NTM Hair Masque and just smiled and shook his head saying "sneaky, sneaky, sneaky!" My face turned red.

Or how about the time I was tempted to cut a couple of split ends (at work!) with my orange scissors! (I didn't though!)

I recently went to the BSS for the first time in about 4 weeks. Let me tell you, I only went in there for some shampoo. Came out with mango butter, gloss drops, shea butter, s-curl, qp recovery, a drawstring ponytail and an INSTANT WEAVE!!! (and i don't even wear instant weaves!)

please make the madness stop. lol :lachen:

I'm really glad I'm not the only one. So maybe I don't need to go into therapy. :) But yes, it might have something to do with the fact that I'm still searching for the best products and the best way to deal with my hair in general.

LOL..."please make the madness stop"...I was thinking the same thing the other day when I was in Target and looked into my shopping cart. There were wayyy to many hair related items in there!

yeah all friends are tired of hearing me speak about my hair. even when i meet a new guy, first i explain to him about my hair and what i have to do. and i make sure they listen and understand! every conversation, i must mention something about my hair.

I was just at the beach and I had my hair down for the first time in months. It felt SO good to feel the wind blow it around and just let it get messy. At first I was worried about sun damage and split ends, but then I was like "bunk it" I hardly ever do this!

LOL....I used to be that way when I first found the forum. ALWAYS thinking about my hair. I'd be at work, talking to a patient and I'm focusing on their hair....lol I was ridiculous but after a couple of years it has died down a bit. Just give it some time :D
