Hair,I just want to apologise to you.I haven't been treating you right in the past few weeks.I should not have been persuaded by my mom to take you to that excuse for a hairdresser yesterday.ANd I should not have used heat on you 3 times in the last 2 weeks when I know you can't handle it.

Anybody else want to apologise to their hair for stuff they did to it recently?

Hair I apologize for using a metal roller brush and yes a

hairdryer! When I got caught out in the rain on the way to work not once but twice this week!

I know bad bad bad....but I have to keep you looking nice at work. From now on I will carry bobby bins and my neutrogena triple moisurizer so I can put you in a fast bun if it happens again.

I'm so sorry for how I have treated u in the past with those curling irons and having my mom straighten you with a relaxer when I was 8-9 years old. I am sorry you had to deal with grease in the past. I pray that you grow and grow and be strong so you won't break off anywhere.

Dear La'Ketta's Hair now and the ones that fell out before and now in hair heaven,

The first 25 years of my hair:
I am sorry for you commiting hair suicide. I have murderd you in the worst way. First I sliced you, then I burned you to a crisp, then I put a harsh chemical on you and on top of that after I put the harsh chemical on you I threw on some color right after. So in retailiation you decided to jump off the sides of my head and to the floor to the point where I was completely bald. I feel sorry for that now, I'll still put flowers by your grave.

My hair now,
I have been using too much heat on you. I have been pressing it too much. You love your natural state and I have to accept that. I understand now when you get dry this is you telling me to stop the abuse. So now I use water and mist on you and conditioner wash you twice a week and use surge to make you stong. Please don't fall out on me, I'm still learning.

I was doing SO well with you! I haven't used any heat in the past 3 months, but yesterday I just HAD to straighten you with the curling iron. Even though I used some oil, and mango butter as heat protectants I still feel guilty. That's why I treated you with an overnight deep conditioning. IM SO SORRY PLEASE DON'T GET THE URGE TO THIN OUT, GET SPLIT ENDS, OR JUST PLAIN FALL OUT! Please don't make these ugly buns be in vain!

Thank you for not getting tangled even though I waited 12 days instead of 10 to wash you because I was lazy. Thank you for staying wrapped around these rollers right now. Thank you for not shedding while I washed/conditioned/rollerset you. I promise I will continue to take better care of you and will keep relaxers far far away from you until August. Please come out of this rollerset bouncy and shiny like I know you are. Oh, and I promise never to take you back to Ms. What'sherface who chopped a lot of you off last year. If I could, I'd slap her to Japan for cutting.

Please continue to stay healthy, not break, and grow back to brastrap by january!

I promise, for as long as I live, to put you in braids (not tight), limit my ponytail wear, tie you up at night with my satin durag, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, and to take care of those nasty split ends, as well as to seal them with my cocoa butter. Oh, where to begin?

Maybe in kindergarten, when in preparing for school, I hacked off a half of one of my braids because, in not knowing how to yet braid, that was my way of "fixing it?"

Or how about when I was 10, and went to that awful, AWFUL so-called stylist who gave my virgin hair a much-too strong relaxer that made all of my very long &amp; thick hair break off?

Or how about during my junior high &amp; high school days, when I just knew the curling iron was my best friend...and I didn't wear a cap during swimming class, trying to "be cute."

Oh Hair, I have done so much to you, and yet, you've stayed. I apologize for my ignorance (ah, the stupidity of youth!) Then again, your grandmama didn't much know what to do with you either, but I cannot blame her: I made matters worse. So Hair, please forgive me for the past. You know that in the past 6 years, I have taken a real interest in seeing you grow and thrieve, and I'll never turn away. Your health means the world to me.

In short, Hair, as you continue to show me the way, I will continue to honor you and do right by you. And thus, we grow together.
