I had a stylist tell me it was too long, too thick, too much. And she had cut my hair when I asked for a trim. Now I do my own hair.

I can understand how it could be to much for some people. It's to much for me at times. Esp when I relax. Rollersetting is now a problem, it takes so long.

I saw that stylist recently at Walamrt and I had my hair flat ironed. She was amazed at how much it's grown in the past year.

The last time this happened to me (at a JCPenney salon) I made sure I found a way to spite her without spiting her.

She complained that my hair was too thick from airdrying and that the relaxer didn't take... this and that... too much work. She ended up charging me more and said next time, come every week and we won't have this problem.

I booked with a hispanic lady the next time. Said former stylist came up to me and said, "Oh, why didn't you want me to do it for you?"
Me: "Well, last time you said my hair was too thick and hard for you to do, so I'm trying to find someone who doesn't mind taking the time to deal with my hair."

The look on her face was priceless.
These stylists act as though they're paying you to do your hair. I'm starting to get tough with them.

Way to go! Do you still go to the hispanic stylist?

I wouldn't want her to touch my hair after those statements. She may try to do something to it now just to prove her point. When it starts breaking or shedding she would probably say "I told you it needed cutting." She is sounding a bit scary. Your hair is gorgeous! I don't know why she would say that except out of jealousy. I wouldn't let her. She will probably cut and cut just to make herself feel better.

It's time to ditch her and consider self relaxing :yep:
At this point she is going to do more harm than good and destroy your progress. Check out SoutherGirl's fotki for self-relaxing tips and start practicing with conditioner.

I agree with this, either start doing it yourself or definetly find another stylist. DO NOT let that woman cut all that long pretty hair of yours, nor let her drive you to make you cut your own hair off. :nono:

Good for you, I just got a relaxer last week from a new stylist she was cracking jokes, talking turning me away from the mirror and before I knew it she was cutting my hair, I told her to stop! please NO more cutting what is wrong with these stylists? she used a new relaxer I asked her to only put relaxer on the new growth she put it from my new growth down 4 inches and she still charged me $70.00 no more and I hate it! my hair looks thinner she cut about 2 inches off she said my hair was uneven, I DID NOT ASK HER TO CUT!!!! it has taken me time to get it thicker and longer She did not ask permission, her hair is short and she wears a weave I am so mad I had to wait a couple of days before writing about it---

I know my hair will get thicker and longer again I need to learn how to relax I really do, the only thing that makes me feel good right now is that I have the power not to go back, I will NOT--Now I feel better No more hair stylist, NO MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Candy, don't you dare let that woman make you "depressed" and contemplate cutting your beautiful hair. Don't do it, girl!! Just say no.

I agree with the other posters: you need to become a D.I.Y.er with the quickness. Either that, or find another stylist.

Just curious...how does this stylist's hair look? One thing I have learned is that there is a lot of hateration going on when it comes to hair. Sometimes I think stylists purposely sabatoge healthy hair because they can't acheive it. Perfect example...I went to the same stylist for three years and my hair never got past the nape of my neck...

PLEASE don't go back to her. Even if you talk things out with her I'm afraid she will still maliciously damage your hair. Like the others said...find another stylist.

I don't understand. It's not like your hair in dragging the floor and she has to pass the relaxer all the way thru. You only relax the roots right? You have three options:

1. Find another stylist
2. stick with her and cut it to shoulder length
3. Go natural and do it yourself.
Co-sign! :yep:

Girl, why are you still going to her then? I would tell her where its at and go somewhere else. She is NOT worth it, and there are PLENTY of other fish int he sea who would LOVE to do your hair.

Besides, your hair is yours ok? Don't let somebody who doesn't wear it everyday tell you what you "have" to do with it. You don't "have" to do anything ok?

]Run, Forrest, RUN[/B]!!!! No, seriously, stay FAR away from this woman. She does not have your best interests at heart.

Heeheehee:lachen:That was too funny.

Candy, I think you already know that you need to find a new stylist, my dear.:ohwell:

Well I only went to her twice, but I will be going to her from now on.
I tell her something once and she doesn't ask again. She may put her own input in (get a black rinse, get a rollerset instead of a full blow out) but when I'm like "Uhh... I don't think I want that." She says "Okay mami" and styles my hair how I asked..

Candy Im scaried for you :nono: . I don't think you should go back because she will eitheir cut your hair or damage it. I think you should get a new stylist or start perming your own hair. I going to start learning how to do my own perms also and not be so scaried about it . I do everything myself except perms and trims. I think I'll try triming myself soon.

I agree with everything everyone else has said.

The last time a stylist got crazy with me in their comments about my hair was last year. The look that I gave her could've killed. I was so mad it was all over my face and she apologized after making the rude comments.

And guess what? I haven't been back to her since. She left a message with me last week to say she's in a new salon now. I was like . If you haven't heard from me in a year then you know what's up :look:

ok

i've decided to let a friend do it for me

i guess she'll be 10x better than me, and until i learn then she can be my stylist! shes been relaxing for around 6 years

and she loves my hair and says shes got no problem doing it for me

this other lady tried 2 tell people shes the reason my hairs so long

she CONTRIBUTES but shes very stuck in her old ways

something inside is telling me to forget her

and i'm going to allow my best bud to do it for me next week

i'ma detangle well, and if its easier for her, i'll let her do half first

and i kno exactly when i want it washed off too.

and i'm sure she wont even take money from me, i'm going to give her some anyway.

my other stylist started to use crappy products too, and not the affirm she used to use

i ended up having to do my own protein,

she would also complain my hairs hard work for her. at least i feel i can have more authority when my friend does it, and i'm also gonna get a colour activated neutralising shampoo so theres no room for drama.

it also bothered me because my mum goes to here, and my mums niave, she seems to think butter wouldnt melt. my mums hair isnt down her back, so i dont agree that the stylist is doing anything miraculous at all.

i shall trim my own hair when i feel like it

and it looks like my friend is going to have the responsibility of looking after me from now on!

thankyou ladies xxxxx

That's wonderful to hear that you're not going to her anymore! Lots of us were scared for you!! It's also the right thing to do to give your friend money even if she won't ask for it. She's a lifesaver!

Give your mum time, she'll come around. Mine went to this woman who used marcels with the brown gel on top of this unlabeled holding spray. My mom's hair stayed broken off and kept getting shorter from trimming. When she saw my hair growing and flourishing, she started talking to me more about the health of her hair.
