Well today I was reading all the wet to dry threads and Im like heck to the no, I'd never to that! lol So I washed and conditioned as usual, applied my leave in and serum, and dried loose under the dryer until 65 percent dry in the back and 80 percent dry in the front (around 7 minutes). So I'm about to blow dry and I told myself "What the H3ll, try it". So me being the big goofball I am, I flat iron a piece right in the front. WOW!!! That piece was really straight and moisturized so I went ahead and finished the rest of my hair. My hair was very moisturized and swanging!!!! I will never blow dry before flat ironing ever again!!!

** Oh yeah to minimize burning the scalp, I hit the roots with three quick clamps.

**This thread is part 2 to this one http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=338625&highlight=

Very pretty.

What do you mean by "three quick clamps" for your roots?

LOL

yup I had to flat iron my hair cause my stylist left me with hard spots and weighed down hair. So I neutralized, DC'd and flat ironed.Sylver, man up, im pretty sure that long pretty hair of your will come out great. You'd be surprised...the moisture level is SICK.

You reminded me...there's someone on Fotki, I can't think of her name but her fotki has been passed around here forever. Anyhoo she has hip length relaxed hair, and she airdries in plaits overnight and the next morning she flatirons her hair. I've been wanting to try since I read that because I hate rollersetting. It's so tiring.

Did it fluff up later? When I don't get all the water out before straightening my hair it looks great for about an hour. After that it looks like I was caught in the rain. :ohwell:

not one bit! This is day 5 and my hair is just as sleek and moisturized as it was day 1. I even walked outside while it was sleeting and my hair still looks the same as it did day one. Its almost too sleek. I have to keep reminding myself that this is my hair and I did not buy it, because it feels that good.

I've tried the damp flat ironing and it was a GREAT! But I knew I had read this somewhere. Y'all remember Robin from www.growafrohairlong.com? She talks about spraying ice water on your ends before you flatiron. Here's a quote:

If You Hot Curl Your Ends On Daily Basis

If you are curling your ends on a daily basis, spray very cold water (Ice water) on the tips daily and bump the ends. The ice water and heat will lock in moisture and produce a firmer set--which mean little to no breakage.

Ends Seal Technique

While hair is damp
Take aluminum foil, fold over hair tip, and take a warm non- electric bumper curler or flat iron and place over the foil for 2-3 seconds. The heating appliance only needs to be warm not hot. Hot aluminum will burn your hair
Note: If you use an electric bumper curler, allow it to heat, then unplug and seal ends. The heating appliance only needs to be warm not hot. Hot aluminum will burn your hair

Fabulous!!!

I'm still too much of a punk to even think of trying it, so I'll just have to live vicariously through everyone else's fab results
