I'm never letting another hairdresser cut or trim my hair

(((((lovelylocs))))) :bighug: I'm really sorry, I don't know what's wrong with some of these stylists. :nono:

What???!!! How'd that happen? Were you asleep? What did she do or say to convince you to let her trim 5"? That's more hair than I have on my head.

I'm so sorry for your loss, sweetie!

(((hugs))) :heart2:

I agree..... I think if I go that route again, I'm going to look into going to a salon like Super Cuts..

That's messed up, sorry to hear about that. Stories like this is why I don't let noone touch my daughters hair or mine.

Lovelylocs I'm sorry for your loss. That was not a trim it was a cut. 5 inches is a years worth of growth and for some it's 2 years of growth. How much was she suppose to trim? Did she refund your money?

Every now and then hairdressers will hand me their card after realizing that I have a full head of virgin hair twisted up. But I tell them I style my own hair, but thank you anyways.

I'm so sorry to hear this. :( I lost 8-10 inches at my last "trim." So I understand how you feel. It will get better in time.

WHAT THE :censored:?!?!?!?! I'm pissed as :censored: and it's not even MY hair!!

That is so upsetting....I'm sorry about that. Unless you're holding 5 inches of completely damaged hair, I don't understand why a stylist would want to cut of so much..

I'm so sorry to hear that. I started a discussion a couple of days ago about a crazy stylist that was supposed to blow-dry and braid my hair. She took out a pair of scissors and tried to BC me. She only retreated when I screamed NO at her. I strongly advocate learning how to do your hair and stay away from stylists. I am now convinced they are all possessed by the demon of cutting. Hugs.....

This just convinced me that I will be flat ironing and trimming my hair MYSELF next month. The thought of going from bsb to sl is too scary. I think i'll wait until wl to go to the salon. Worst case scenario i'll get a big cut back to mbl. I could handle that better

I am so sorry to hear that! I too had a loss of 3 inches and altho it was my fault, no stylist, it still hurts to lose so much hair! its horrible, because it takes a lot of time and effort to grow that much hair! Big Hugs to you!

This happened to me a couple of months and my hair grown a lot since then. It will definitely get better in time.

I am so sorry to hear that! How are these stylists able to cut so much hair?? I can understand an inch, even two but 5? 8?
What, do they make a big snip and then you have no choice but to let them even it up? Do they turn you away from the chair so you can't see?? I don't get it...

Sighs. These heauxs kills me.

The same thing happened to me on my last "trim". Another stylist can't touch me unless it's a weave or braids even then I take bail money. I was in shock. I started learning how to self trim.

Do you have pictures?

Goodness!! How in the world did that happen?!?! 5" is a lot and I'm very sorry for your loss. I mistakenly cut an extra inch off my own hair and I cried.

Look at it this way, you should have nice blunt ends and if you take really good care of your hair from now on you'll only have to do maintenance trims.

It's not that hard to trim your own hair either. I definitely suggest you DIY from now on.

Yes to both. They know you aren't going to leave with one side APL and the other side SL. And alot of them have a tendency to turn you away from the mirror.

I never really had an issue with SHS until I moved to Atlanta. On top of that, I mainly DIY unless it was a special occasion so I honestly didn't know how trifling these broads can be. My male friend tried to warn me but I didn't listen.:nono: Only one lady cut what I wanted but her attitude was so stank, I didn't go back.

I know what you mean. In October 2009, my stylist did the same thing. My hair is just at the length when she cut it. Never again.

I agree. Even if you cut more than necessary, You don't feel so bad. Hell, it might be uneven, but the point is Your in control of own hair destiny.

OP, I understand. I'm looking to be a DIY trimmer because of a similar instance. My only hesitation is not having a steady hand and not cutting evenly. I want my dh to trim my hair but I have trashed talk (about all my stylist cuts) so bad that my he is skeptic to do it for me. Can't say I blame him. He doesn't want to give me a bad trim.

Lovelylocs,

I just gave myself a trim. About three weeks post relaxer. I washed my hair this morning and had to attend a meeting, so I unfortunately quickly blow dry to smooth my hair in a pony tail and added a phoney pony. This evening after reading your post, I removed phony and my hair was a bit stiff and I guess wavy in the center, so I decided to flatiron to smooth it out. Well, the hair that didn't bend, I call it dead ends, so I snip here there and a little everywhere. To Me, when the hair bends and bounces I'm good. I know some sections are not perfectly even, but hey, I'm Neck length and my bob still flows, so I'm good. Sorry, no photos. I guess, I have to purchase another memory card. It took about 30 min, but I'm cool for a few weeks.

So sorry this happened to you. I recently went to great clips to get a trim, and she did exactly as I asked...She even confirmed that most AA stylists cut/trim too much.. Hoping things get better for you.. I will always go to great clips etc.. for trims..
