I'm curious, what temperature do you guys normally set your flat iron to?

I blow dry my hair and I still need 300-330 degrees.

My hair is just too thick and kinky to get it straight as I like it with only 200. It would be no point even using heat at all at that temp.

LOL. Same here. My hair would bust out laughing at 200 degrees.

omigod. isnt that too high? i dont flatiron my hair often cos im scared of heat damage

I Maxiglide and set mine on 4-6. Considering I air dry 24hrs w/ scarf on my head during the whole drying process to keep down frizzies. Does a great job. Are you all using the water attachment? If so are you using tap or bottled water?

wow, i started with my maxiglide at about 7-8, close to 10! then i read everyone else was using 4, but i didn't consider they might be permed! so i tried 4 and it got pretty straight, later on in the week it was a little poofy for my tastes. so i will kick it up to 5-6 and see how it lasts...

I don't know the temp but on my maxiglide I don't go past setting 1.....sometimes I even cut the iron off to let it cool down.

I use bottled cuz that's what the book says use. I follow the directions because I don't want to damage my precious, lol.

I changed to bottled water now for the attachment. I lost the included cd used tap water, i know better now.

Did Maxius ever get back to you regarding the degree of the setting? if not I think I'll send an email also so they try to let us Maxiglide folks know what degrees we're putting in our hair. Maybe we all should send one, , that will start up some kind of reply.

I sent an email to the Maxius folks to see if they can tell us the degree equivalence for each number. Hopefully they will respond. I'm curious.

I flat iron to 300° F, I sometimes do 320° F, but I believe this is one of the reasons why I started seeing more hair laying in the sink than on my head at a certain point:confused: so now I'm really careful with it, I've only used my flat iron once so far (in one year:grin: ), I'm really proud of myself, because there was a time (=last year:look: ) when I basically used it every day at 320° F:cool: , I'm flat iron wise now though;)

I have a Sedu and I flat iron at 165-180. This is really hot on my Sedu so I don't think these temperatures are the same, if that makes any sense.

Wait, I just looked at the website and I may be talking Celcius as opposed to Fahrenheit, so I guess my setting is about 330 Fahrenheit.

My solano Doesn't even have a temp control on it, but I know it is at least 400 degrees.

My hair loves heat! On my curling irons, I always turn it up as high as it can go. My hair won't curl if I don't.

I was tickled to read temps of 170 -200. If you are using a heat protector temps higher than that won't hurt your hair. Plus your style may last longer and be more silky. Just use a hot blow dryer with those temps. I use 370 on my FHI but if I goto the salon she uses 450 (hot I know) but she knows what she is doing and my hair never smells burnt or ever gets burned.

I used my FHI and used the heat setting of 390-400 and it seemed to get my hair really straight. I also flat ironed my daughters hair but, was afraid to turn the heat up. The highest I went was 300 in her hair. Be sure to check out my FOTKI and see our results!

Thanks,

Beautiful! You have progressed so nicely. This time next year, I guarantee you will be at brastrap or longer. :D I just love to see progress like yours.

Lili,

Thanks so much for the compliment it was really appreciated. I'm working on it and I really do hope to see bra length by that time.

Blessings to you,

I have noticed that since I have been using the Qhemet Sidr Tree Butter Balm as a leave in on wet hair before a heat protectant, my flatiron does not have to be as hot. It gets straight on about 30-50 degrees less heat than before using the product this way.

I just purchased a Solia, and it says below 300 for damaged hair and 370 for healthy hair. I consider my ends damaged, so I will probably flat iron at below 300.
