if you've had sex with someone in your mind, then you've slept with them?

Well, in Matthew 5:27-28, Jesus said "You have heard thet it was said, 'Do not commit adultry.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultry with her in his heart. (NIV)

I know that adultery is talked about in these texts, but sexual sin is sexual sin. Also read Romans 1:18-32 and 1 Corinthians 6:12-20.

HTH! God bless you as you search for truth.

how does this work? does anybody know more about this scripture, and how it works?
What Good2uuu shared is correct about thoughts.

HOWEVER, before you condemn yourself, be aware of this as well; for Darlin' we ALL have thoughts...indeed we do. It's what we do with them that determines when it is sin.

The word of God tells us that there are many voices in the world (I Corinthians 14:10)...

Angel, thoughts are going to cross our minds; it is inevitable. As long as we are in this earth and alive, there will be thoughts.

Yet in so knowing, God in His mercy has given us this by His grace...

2 Corinthians 10:2-6

But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Angel, our minds are what they are...our minds. We will be presented with much temptation each day that we live...each moment. Yet when thoughts of Mr. Sidney Potier and Denzel, try to compell me to sin...I don't let them win. :look:

I simply change my thought and think of the life of me that the Blood of Jesus bought with such a high price...Hmmmm, thoughts far better; thoughts more nice.

Philipians 4:8

Whatsoever things are pure, lovely, of a just report...think on these things...

For me, no more dreams of Mr. Sidney...or Denzel. :cry3: Oh well

Don't condemn yourself any further...

BTW: "I have never had sex with these men....Mr. Sidney or Denzel ... in my mind or otherwise." Never, ever! Never, I tell you! (Bill Clinton)

Bwahh haa haa haaa.

Let's not talk about the dreams. I have to confess after some of my dreams. I never know the person. No! I am not a dream Hoe -a. :lachen: :lachen: These dreams just come out of the blue sometimes.

Confession - good for the soul.

I dream about being used by a person I would puke on if he were on fire. I was worried about that. I actually felt what it felt like to be used and done with and i have never had sex. this really concerned me.:(

So you are not speaking of fantasizing, but of a bad dream? I assume it's a bad dream if it's someone that you would puke on and he's using you. If it is a bad dream, pray that God will remove that dream from your psyche. If it's dream that hits you out of nowhere, so to speak, and it disturbs you, then I wouldn't think you would be in moral trouble. But, the evil one is always looking for a way in. All I can say is pray and be strong.

God bless!

Basically the scripture is dealing with sin you can see and sin you cant see. Folx would be real quick to stone someone who had commited adultery, but the only thing holding them back from the same sin is that there was a law with consequences and public condemnation, which was a stoning leading to death. Their own minds were lustful and depraved but since they didnt actually do the deed, they could still render judgement against someone who was caught in the act, clean in their own minds, or at least the minds of the public. Jesus was telling folx if you lust after folx (not just a passing thought, but something you actually give your energy to) then you've already done the deed and are no better than someone actually caught in the act. It's not enough to appear to be righteous, your heart needs to be righteous. You can be obedient in actions, but rebellous in your mind. Jesus was trying to get across to folx that you can follow all these laws of "dont do this, dont do that", but if your heart is corrupt, you're as guilty as if you commited an external sin. Sin is sin, visible or not. Similar themes are the whitewashed tomb scripture (nice looking on the outside but inside are dead mens bones) and the judge not lest ye be judged. It's not that we arent to judge, but we arent to condemn someone or judge someone for doing the same things we are struggling with. I hope that makes sense.
