...another woman thinking she's cute on the metro with braids (individuals or cornrows) that start 2 inches past her hairline I'm just going to scream!!!!

When it comes to improper haircare, what is it that you are just tired of seeing?

(Possible spin-off thread: What to do when you're just tired of seeing [_________]. Maybe ask if she's Nikko's cousin and when she doesn't know what you're talking about, mention this site? <-- {shrugs})

I know what you mean. It seems that I have seen a bevy of "Susan Taylor" hairlines lately. I want to pull those ladies aside and say, I know you look in the mirror and see what I see. Do you really think its ok?

I am tired of seeing that and the unkempt perm ladies. There are some ladies around my way with some really oily broken off perms. Doesn't look healthy at all. :nono:

Yeah my husband complains every time he sees "Susan Taylor's" hairline on tv or in a photo. He says the same thing... Does she really think its ok?

We were at a banquet a few weeks ago and saw this lady dressed to the nines with cornrows and my husband turned to me and just before he busted out laughing he whispered... She looks like a Shaolin Monk!!!

I also don't like seeing that unkempt perm that looks both dry & oily at the same time pulled back into a jacked up uncurled broken off ponytail where 70% of the hair doesn't even reach the scrunchie.

But what I hate more than anything is seeing a Mom who's hair looks Decent or better with a daughter who's hair is all screwed up! And it really makes me angry when I see the daughters with there hair pulled back in a lazy ponytail and her edges are  GONE! Clean as a whistle on the sides & front. Hey lady...how could you let that happen. There's gotta be someone near you who could help do her hair even if you can't.

I was in Target yesterday and saw a young woman with a Susan Taylor hairline. The sad part is that she had her hair in corn rows. The braids looked extra tight. To make it worse, she had a little baby hair laid down where her hair line used to be. In other words, there was a fringe of baby hair, a huge bald area and then the braids. She was young too!!!

Okay, the Shaolin Monk part was so funny and that describes it PERFECTLY!!!

C'mon ya'll. I know there are more styles that you are just tired of seeing.

Like there's this little girl at my daughter's school with short ...PERMED hair (she's got to be around 3 or 4) and her mom CONSTANTLY puts these HUGE barrettes and ponytail holders in her hair. I really want to offer to do her hair, but I can't overstep my boundaries. You know how women are, especially black women, about their little girls hair. But I swear I just wanna .......

i'm not on the "all AA women should be natural" bandwagon. but i'm sick and tired of seeing little girls with relaxed hair period. by "little" i mean 2 and 3 years old. :perplexed and their hair is always pulled back into one effed-up ponytail with broken-off hair that doesn't reach, edges already receding... and/or have ridiculously long braid extensions or a phony pony on their heads.

now you know that's a dayum shame...

I agree with u ladylibra 100%. I don't think little girls at that age should have relaxers at all and i can't stand when the parent puts it in those little pony tails and then "fan" it out. when i see little girls like that i want to sit douwn with the mom and ask them what were they seriously thinking by putting a relaxer in their hair?

Yes people who sports this look bothers me as well.

If you are a grown woman, Its up to you to take responsibly for the health of your hair. If they think their hair is fine with thin or bald edges and broken off ends then thats what they think. Maybe they will realize what they are doing is not working but some people will always be stuck in their ways especially when it comes to black women and our hair..... But the only thing I have a problem with is when I see little girls with their hair thinning/bald on the sides with tight pony tails. For example, my boyfriend and I were at Fat Burger one Saturday and we saw this little girl with her mom. The little girls hair was thick and very long in two pony tails on each side that fell to APL. Tell me why the little girl turned to the side and there was nothing there. Me and my boyfriend just looked at each other. As we were eating they were eating on the other side. I wanted to go say something to the mom and my boyfriend told me I should but I chickened out because I didn't want to step on anyones toes.

I agree with both you and Ladylibra. I was so irritated when I came to pick my daughter up from school and saw her little friend. I was thinking to myself, I know that's not a press. Why did she go and put that in her hair at such a young age. I couldn't believe it. And over the school year, her hair has just gotten thinner and thinner and thinner......

Y'all are too funny!! What kinda bothers me is when I see a biracial child with a white mother and the childs hair looks like a dried out birdsnest. That child is HALF black!!! Why cant the mother realized that and a least put HALF the amount of moisturizer in dat childs hair??? Half would be better than NONE>.

If she was "wit" a black man, did she not see him put moisture in his hair?? It just baffles me!! She know dat the childs hair is not like hers.......so.....why not ask somebody about what needs to be done????

I just want to grab da child and take her home for a DC and moisturizing and seal it wit oil!!

I don't get tired of looking at any style per se, but there are times I want to share things I've learned over the years. I guess I've learned not to prejudge people with thin hair or with balding areas because it could be a medical condition. Could you imagine someone coming up to you and sharing hair tips when it's a medical condition causing your hair to excessively fall out or break off? Not only can it be hurtful, it can really give a beating to someone's self esteem. :(

Not trying to be a stick in the mud... just offering a little food for thought. :look:

Thank goodness my brother's GF (who is white) knows how to style my biracial nieces' hair. Those babies don't run around with dried-out looking 'fros on their heads. Their hair is always neat and clean and moisturized. But I've seen the look, and it's NOT CUTE. Poor babies! Most of my hair horrors involve mother's who don't know better and destroy their daughters' hair. Such a shame!

I am soooooo fedup of seeing women with butt length straight indian chinese whatever weave and I could see your 1 inch hair sticking straight up! What is up with that the world knows your hair is 2 inches long its not blend in correctly because you have 2 inches of hair and you have waistlength weave and all your edges are gone, jeezzz I'm gonna make lhcf business cards and start handing them out, I'll probably go through 10 thousand in a week!

I am soooo... tired of seeing little, black girls wearing any type of fake hair:mad: I just want to walk up and give them a big hug, and tell them; that their REAL hair is beautiful and should be worn and shown off to the world.

Aw you're not being a stick in mud. We're all here to express our opinions. But I would at least hope that someone with a medical condition would have sense enough not to make matters WORSE by adding more trauma to the already troubled spot(s). Know what I mean? But, I'm specifically talking about folks who think they are the shiznit, walking around looking a HAM!

Ditto! And I'm also tired of seeing women with relaxed black hair and a phony-pony that's blonde, red, light brown etc. Was that a fashionable thing to do once upon a time?

IA. At first I wasn't going to co-sign on this because I have been considering a protective wig myself...however, when the wearer is a little girl...who's not wearing it for a protective style...

That's exactly what I was going to say. I thought this move was already played out. Girls in my middle school and high school used to do this and that was a long time ago.

ITA! It's just sad. I was at the hair dressers a little bit ago adn she was telling me about how on easter a mother came in with a little girl who couldn't have been more than two and first asked the hair dresser to perm her hair and then when the stylists said a big h*** naw she was like well can you press it out. HUH? My stylist was like how about I put some nice little pigtails in her hair and braid them? We were bothl ike what's sad is there is probably some stylist or friend of the woman who 'll perm that little girl's hair and byt he time she's 4 she won't have any.

HA!! It's because you're in Ft. Washington! Errrone thinks they're cute in Ft. Washington!!! :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

I dislike when I see a little girl with about 40 ponytails in their head with big ginormous bobbles and then has them on the ends too.

I dislike when I see a little baby with lots of tight, tight rubberbands on their little ponytails

I dislike seeing a little girl with long braids (extensions)

I dislike when I see a woman whose hair is hella greasy, like they are scared to wash their hair, they have to wait to get it done. At least stop trying to wear it down. It's only clean and flowy for so long.

-some little girls might have shorter edges because they cut them. my 5 year old sister cut her friggin' edges! why? so yes, we had some extensions put in to allow her hair to grow, and so she'd feel comfortable at school. however, they extensions are not long at all, and they are medium sized. but not every child with short edges has hair that has been neglected. sometimes despite what the mother does to her childs hair, children are wild and are going to mess their hair up. they are going to play with scissors, play beautician with their friends and put something in their hair that breaks it off, etc... and sometimes the mothers feel that instead of wasting time and money on a childs hair when children just want to be children without caring about looks, she'd rather spend that money on herself, since many mothers do not get to anything for themselves. HOWEVER, i can't stand to see a little girl with a perm! YIKES! and sometimes you can tell when the mother is responsible for breaking her own daughters hair out. but i'm just saying, we cannot always judge.

..as for adults, what's with the tight micro braids and non-existant hairlines with brown GEL slicking back what little hairs are left in front? what grown folks do it their own business, but if you see your hairline disappearing, do you not know what's causing it? i mean, is having long extensions supposed to be sexy regardless of the missing hairline?

..dry looking relaxed blonde hair on a woman of color. once again is having dry blonde hair more sexy than healthier looking hair with a better color application? i see this A LOT on campus.

took the feelins right out of my head: girls who wear the high ponytail weaves and jel their hair up w/ the two bald spots on the side thinkin they are cute: i'm be lookin like I feel bad for them

Sadly, this week I saw a little girl about 11 years old, or less, with extensions in her hair, that were dark brown, blonde and red streaked. Not braided. But the Shirley Temple type coily curls and she had four times the amount that anyone could have had on their head at one time. They were past shoulderlength and it looked clownish ...why....why...why?????Her mom has been doing these kind of ghetto grown woman styles on her daughter for several years. What do you say to that? bonjour

Lmao!!! So true, there have been plenty of times where my little sisters did that. Most times they were with my stepdad's clippers... another time they felt the need to cut off a random ponytail. Yes my family is special.:p

I hate to see little girls with perms and thier edges all ate up from tight ponytails. Alot of the knowledge shared on this forum have been things Ive practiced all my life. I wish I could get a loud speaker and walk the streets protesting some of our awfull hair care practices.:lachen:
