.....Because I found something SOOOOO much better!

Nexxus Emergencee is the BEST!!!!

Just relaxed my hair about 2 hours ago. Dreading the breakage that I ALWAYS get when I relax I picked up some Nexxus Emergencee treatment instead of the Aphogee that I usually get.

I have had considerably less breakage. Ive counted probably about 5 or 6 hairs broken since I rinsed out my relaxer this afternoon. Which is really saying something because usually after a relaxer I loose hair like crazy. Even after the aphogee treatment! I dont think Ive ever had a product that checked my breakage like THIS before. Ever.

I am so impressed. I will definitely be purchasing this product again. I wanted to let you guys know my two cents.

OK PEOPLE.... Since it seems that everyone is so confused as to what I meant in this post let me post the TL;DR details here:

I am talking about the way I use NEXUS EMERGENCEE in this post. NOT describing how I use aphogee.... How I use Aphogee is a completely different story and (just to repeat it) has NOTHING to do with this story. These are two completely different prodcuts, with different ingredients and different ways to use them. However, I found that I achieve my desired result (less breakage) better, by using one of them... namely... Nexus Emergencee.

you got me with the title lol. I usually use the 2 min after my relaxer but I'm running out. I'll def try the Nexxus when I relax in 3 wks

Thank you for your two cents. Lol! When exactly did you do the treatment? Before or after the relaxer?

How do you apply it? Does it harden like ApHogee?

Where can you purchase it? How much does it cost?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm tired of ApHogee myself. It burns the heck out of my eczema.

i want to know toooo:look:

I'm glad you found something that works better. I'm stickin to my aphogee though. I'm not thrilled with nexxus products like I used to be (their DC & such)... besides aphogee is easier on my wallet lol

I put a little on the ends of my hair before and then slathered it on right after the neutralizer.

Yes it does harden like aphogee but not break your hair off nasty crunchy type harden. Its just a gel that you squeeze onto your hair after your shampoo. Unlike aphogee it is NOT runny and doesnt stink.

I really like nexxus way better than aphogee now. I had considerably less hair in the sink. Aphogee got replaced many many moons ago.

I agree. I gave up aphogee 2 step about 6 months ago...I just could not take the smell anymore and the Nexus Emergencee worked so well.

I thought the Aphogee 2-step protein treatement was supposed to be done 1-2 weeks BEFORE a chemical service? If your hair always breaks after a relaxer, could it be something else thats causing the breakage?

How do you use it? DO you have a shampoo you use first? I have to use up my Aphoghee first, but if I can do the same with less products, go me!:lachen: Does it work on natural hair without a problem?

Hi dd. I shampooed with my neutralizing shampoo first. This was right after a relaxer however, so if you are doing it as a part of your normal routine I would follow the directions on the bottle which say to shampoo first then shampoo after.

I love aphoghee! But I've never ever known it to be used the day of a relaxer. Not the hard core protein stinky stuff. I know some people use the Aphoghee 2 min reconstructor after rinsing the relaxer out and right before neutralizing. I always use my Aphoghee 1 wk before my relaxer and 1 wk after. My hair loves it.

I second this totally I use APHOGEE 2 step the week before my relaxer and APhogee 2 minute the week after and my hair gives no issues thank goodness, no breakage issues at all. I think in it's own way my hair says thank you in hair language, LOL!

I love Nexxus Emergencee.

I usually use it the week prior to relaxing. As my Protein Treatment under the dryer, no plastic cap for 10-15 minutes (until hard) following up with a Moisturizing DC'er.

Recently, I've re-incorporated quite a few Nexxus Products (that I use to use in the past) such as Humectress, Biotinoil, Ensure, Theraphee, Keraphix and Biotin Scalp Creme.

I've never used Apoghee tho':perplexed.

I think some people are confusing products. Aphogee 2 min is a light protein that's like Nexxus Keraphix which can be used after rinsing out your relaxer and before neutralizing. Nexxus Emergencee is like Aphogee 2 step which is a hard core protein that can be used 1 week before a relaxer. The light proteins can be used weekly with no problem unlike the hardcore treatments

I use GVP nexxus humectant and I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it. I'm on mi third bottle. As far as aphogee I loved it while I was transitioning but I'm nervous to put it on mi hair now that I am completely natural.

Hey ladies,

I saved this post some time ago:

Hmm.. Found this on another site. This may be the reason why it is safe to use Emergencee weekly. Does anyone know the difference between polymetric and protein conditioners??

"Nexxus Emergencee is not PROTEIN treatment like Ouidad, Redken Deep Fuel, or even Keraphix. (The ingredients are not the same.) It's a Polymeric treatment, which bonds hair together and preserves and promotes elasticity. (Proteins usually just ""fill up" spaces in the hair.) That said, after trying emergencee, it really works great to restrengthen the hair, but the results are different from protein treatments. I think those of us with serious hair repair work in front of us would benefit from alternating between protein and polymerics. "

Yes, the polymers in Emergencee actually wrap little fibers around the hair to keep it protected and in tact. Proteins penetrate and "fill in" as you said.

I think a clear rinse would be similar to a polymeric conditioner.

Sorry I missed this. I use them back to back and follow up with Biolage Ultrahydrating Conditioner or Lafier Lanolina Rinse. Both moisturize and hydrate my hair really well post protein tx.

Hey ladies

So would it be a good idea to use GPB for protein (to fill) and then follow up with Emergence (to coat)?

Polymetrics get into the difference between fortifying products and protein products. There really is a difference between the two and IMO they work best when used in tandem. I think alot of people who are experiencing alot of breakage and split ends even after decreasing manipulation and increasing protein usage, need to check out using more polymetric products and other fortification products. Its one thing to replenish protein into your hair but I have found that sealing this in so to speak with products like polymetric conditioners make the treatment more effective. Alot of times when you are suffering from weak hair, its not just protein depleted, your cuticle is also messed up from the constant back and forth swelling of too much moisture. This back and forth can cause the hair to stretch beyond its natural threshold and eventually it will break. This happens alot on the ends of the hair. At that point, a protein treatment just isn't enough. Its more effective to use a protein treatment and them supplement your regime with fortifying products.

This topic really does open up a lot of issues I have noticed for a while in how some of use troubleshoot. We tend to equate hard hair with too much protein which is not effective and our default answer to moisture problems is more moisture conditioner which again is not always effective.

Great thread. Glad is been bumped.

HHT!
