I want to touch your hair...

I was walking down the hallway in my dorm and i just feel this hand palming the back of my head.. I turn around and its this football player.. He was like I was watching you walk down the hall and your fro looked so soft so I had to touch it.. that was creepy...

any sentence that begins with 'i was watching you...' sounds creepy.

but. i giggled a little. it looks soft, thats good?

If it my friends hair I dont mind them touching it, because Im usually touching theirs too! But Random ppl.......... heckksssss naw! I dont want them in my space, and even if I think their hair is beautiful...... Ill TELL them " your hair is amazing" but I dont touch them cause honestly I dont know where their HAIR has been. Id feel like I need to scrub my hands after.

Ive been "patted" several times especially since going natural. If its a foreigner I probably wont take as much offense because its usually out of pure curiosity, and because of the fact that they dont see it often.

Case in Point: I went on a cruise not too long ago with my friends. I had in some cute twists. When we where at the picture counter the guys ( ALL siberian and Russian) was starin at me ......... they was FIONE too ..........anyways one of the guys pokes the other one so he spoke up " your hair is so beautiful, We have never seen anything like that. It looks like wool!!"

I was cracking up! "Thanks so much I said"
"Can I touch it". He ASKED! So I let him touch it, and while I did feel like a slight science experiment for I second, it was really cool cause they where in AWE, and my hair isnt even LONG! .. oh Btw they gave us free pictures! LOL

Okay Okay Okay. THIS is one thing that will make me get violent. DON'T touch my hair if I don't know you. Years ago My cousin and I were riding on the EL in Chicago we just had our hair Blowed Dried straight for an engagement party. My cousin was like 15 months pregnant at the time. Real big. We were on the train and this CRAZY ARSE white woman comes up from behind and YANKS I MEAN REALLY Yanks the hell out of our hair. I mean she yanked us so hard that it made my neck jerk back. My cousin poor thing was crying cause it really hurt. She was mad and ready to drop any day and she could not beat the hell out of this woman like she wanted to so she was highly pissed and frustrated.

Well I was not pregnant and I handled her business and mine I tried to kill that woman. Can you Imagine someone a total stranger comes up from behind you and Yanks your hair so hard until you necks jerks back like whiplash? Imagine. All the other people that were on the train car saw that and gasped in disbelief. At that time in Chicago they had conductors that actually called out the stops. HE saw it too. She was sayin oh oh I like your hair I just wanted to touch it. I punched her dead in her face. Sorry don't touch me, I don't know you. Why are you pulling my hair and my cousins hair too. WHY?

So she got mad and called the police. I was like Madea Okay CALL the PoPo. The conductor and everyone on the train was like Yeah this lady is defending herself she assulted those 2 women. See this lady thought that BECAUSE she was white she was just going to tell the police that these BLACK lady beat her up but everyone on the train was like I would have punched her too.

This woman was nuts I mean she had on a suit and tie and looked professional I don't know what possessed her to do that. I hate the weave check too. I have another cousin that has very kinky curly hair that is also very long and people are always trying to figure out if that is her hair cause I guess people with real "Nappy Hair is not supposed to have any right. UMMMMM.

People can be so mean I remember when we were in Boarding School together People would hate on us because of our hair. Cause to Europeans it was hard to fathom Black people with long hair especially dealing with Blonde English Roses hair so fine it is like a whisper. It was myself a cousin and this Drop Dead Beautiful Girl from Nigeria named Comfort. They REALLLYYYYY hated on her. They were so jealous and mean that they put Nair in Shampoo and Conditioner that we used. I remember one day Comfort went to wash her hair and she was like Almaz this smells funny I am like Yeah its hair removal.

And all you heard was a bunch of white girls gigling and running away. Wow I don't know HOW that weed got into their room and they all got expelled. I just don't know.

Twice I've had very RUDE people do this to me.

Once it was at a club and my hair style at the time happened to be a bohemian curly afro weave, let's just say it really looked like my own hair. It was very big, bouncy and curly and I loved it. Anyway... I'm sitting with my friends and this guy (he was black) came out of no where and DUNG his hands all into my hair. I turned around like "WHAT THE &*$^#!!!" Then he doesn't say anything to me, he just walks away toward his friend nodding and say "Yeah, it's her hair!" (He didn't dig far enough) My friends looked at me like... "Girl do you know him!" I'm like "HEEEEELLLL NAWWW!!"

Second time was this lady at my job, I couldn't stand her and again I had a really nice funky weave. She comes up to my all loud, "OOOOhh YOUR HAIR SO PRETTY!!" I'm like, "Thank you." Then she proceeds to reach for my hair....so I SLAPPED her hand!
She blinked and looked at me.
And looked at her like... What? Then she tried to reach again and I raised my hand to slap her again:hardslap:....That's when I said, "Don't touch my hair."
Another co worker (a friend of mine) happened to see the whole thing...She was hollering

The point is that it's rude not to ask first. Just had to share that story.

Sounds like you and I work in the same company. I hate going to meetings with some of the white women in our ATL office because for some reason two of them love to try that mess. I even had to go gangsta on the one chick when she brought up the topic of my hair at our BUSINESS DINNER MEETING!!!

Now the kicker to this is that there are more of us in that office than any other office in the nation but for some reason she feels she needs to touch and comment on my hair

I never have the urge to touch anyone's hair, I just admire from a distance; and I'll be damned if I'm going to let folk touch my hair. I see far too many people use the bathroom and not wash their hands afterwards or digging out their nostrils.

I would just politely say, "Please don't do that." If they are true friends then they should respect your wishes.

Thanks but I was not even that cute back then I wore these think Mr. Magoo coke bottle glasses and long hair all over the place. Pretty much the same now. Glasses aren't as thick. Comfort was stone drop dead beautiful SHE got a lot of hate all the boys wanted her black and white asian. The saudi boys went nuts over her.

The more whiter the girls were they more they hated her because she was absolutely a beautiful girl and they were just mean. I was okay in my own way but I was invisable when I stood next to her.

I don't mind either. I think there is a line that can be crossed when someone is invading like when they try to touch your scalp and stuff. If someone is able to feel my scalp they are too close!! ugh.

No one has actually touched my hair besides my SO and my dog, but since I've been wearing braid outs I can see people sort of staring out of the corner of my eye like they want to touch it, but maybe they're afraid.

When I was natural in HS my friends and babies would pull my braids because they'd spring back up.

My dog will get distracted by it. He got into some coconut oil not too long ago, and once he figured out that I use it on my hair he's been attacking me, dragging me to the floor, and shoving his face into my hair.Crazy.

i don't really want anyone touching my hair too much... i try to not comb too much or fuss with it myself... why should i let someone else?

i have one friend who likes to touch my hair. she'll see that i got a trim or whatever and give me a compliment and then touch it!! and i'm like... "get off my hair!!!" in my head. if she does it again, i'll say something.

reminds me of when i used to cat sit for a friend when i had long braids. if i was leaning over the cat and a braid or two were dangling, she would attack it!!! i guess she thought my hair was yarn...
