Does anyone
have a problem
with friends, family or random
people wanting to touch
your hair?
Do you get offended?
:ohwell:
I like feeling
other people's hair...

It depends. If they are all up in my scalp, then we'll have some problems. Other than that, I wear my hair down so rarely that I think people just have an urge to touch it. And I don't mind.

I don't like it when people try to touch my hair. It kind of feels like an invasion of my bubble. I don't mind if they ask, but for someone to just put their hand all up in my head is a bit much...

I agree with jcsavestheday - it is a violation to me. Hair is organic and I dont like to risk somebody's germs in my hair! I'm so funny like that.........

Ever since ive gone natual, my fam is always in my hair. it kinda annoying cos they pull ang tug at it....

A girl at work did this to me, I mean, she put her hand all in my hair. Doin a weave check probably. I was super offended cuz we aint even that cool! So yes I have a problem with it

A WEAVE CHECK?:lachen: She would have reached in an drew back a nub...

I play with my friends' hair. Yesterday, I tried playing with my friend's classic length hair. If I had long hair, I would mind my friends or family touching. I would probably be miffed if it was a random person or someone trying to figure out if what a Black folks' hair feels like.

As long as I know you, we're cool. However, I was on the train with my baby one day and he was about 2-3 rockin his huge fro. This ***** had the nerve to put her hand in my child's head. I was highly offended and I gave her the look of death, grabbed my child and sat him on my lap. Then I let her know that my son was not an animal in the petting zoo. She was asian and just couldn't help herself, she didn't mean to offend me but I really don't like when people do that. It's bad enough we used to get so many stares when my kids had fros, they couldn't understand why everyone would stare at them when we stepped out.

My roomate does this and more recently I've been getting snappy on her about it. It irks my nerves terribly these days...

This is why I hate people touching my hair. When I was a kid I had qute long and thick hair. I also had a jerhi curl that was somewhat cute (allbeit out of date). I also remember being at the beauty shop and having a bunch of people gathered over my head talking about it and touching it.

For this reason, it makes me feel better if people refrain from randomly touching my hair. If you ask nicely, I'll usually oblige. Otherwise, HANDS OFF!

I've never had a stranger try to touch my hair. But many friends and family have always wanted to touch my hair. For them I don't mind at all. As long as they don't play in it to the point where my hair gets frizzy or messed up.

I'm pretty laid back about it. But then again I've never had a bad experience because of it. Maybe if I had I would feel differently.

I'm not for a bunch of different or random people all in my hair :nono:.

I sometimes want to touch others hair, but I think about how I feel when they ask me. :ohwell:

As I was reading your post I started speculating that it was a foreigner. I learned this while I lived in NYC and my daughter was young.
Three times a stranger touched my daughter on her head - one was a cute little old Asian lady, one was a young Euro guy and one was a West Indian lady.
I guess insome cultures patting childrens head is a sign of affection or something? But like you my mother instinct kicked in and I was tight at first until I took in WHO was doing it and I saw no malice.
Funny thing - none of them uttered a word, just calmly touched her! lol
When I was pregnant, I use to have this Latina nurse touch my face - I was young, pregnant and like WTF!! But looking back on it, I think she really liked me and found me adorable. You earn something new every day! lol

I really don't like it when people touch my hair. And ever since I did the BC, people have been touching it more and more.

I feel terrible telling my boyfriend not to touch my hair, but I seriously DON'T like it.

I don't mind the fact that people (that I know) want to touch my hair but the WAY they want to touch it annoys me. I'm newly natural and they say your hair is so thick! Then they tug on it and pull it all out of shape. Why can't they learn to pet not stick their fingers in the roots and pull it out as much as possible

mj11051......LOL... Whats up with you and the sock filled with quarters?? Every Post I see u in... ur threatening someone (past, present or future) with your quartered-up sock....I am scared of you..:lachen:

LOL!!!! my friend (who happens to be white) "PATS" me......i know its out of affection but i always scold him saying "I AM NOT YOUR PET!!!!!!"...lol. its all in jest but he says my hair feels like wool and he loves it.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!

i hate it when people ask to feel my hair "because it looks trippy!!!" and then turn around and complain that it is oilly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES IT IS GOING TO BE A BIT OILLY COZ I"VE JUST SEALED MY ENDS!!!!!!!!

I like feeling hair, mine and other people's. But I hate when they do it to me. I know, I know. That's why I don't do it.

Since getting a BC people have been touching my hair. Thankfully most of them asked if they could touch it first.

The only time I was semi annoyed was when........
My friend's kindasorta SO started patting my puff after church one day:ohwell:
I had shaped it that morning so I DID NOT want any lumps/dents.

Twice I've had very RUDE people do this to me.

Once it was at a club and my hair style at the time happened to be a bohemian curly afro weave, let's just say it really looked like my own hair. It was very big, bouncy and curly and I loved it. Anyway... I'm sitting with my friends and this guy (he was black) came out of no where and DUNG his hands all into my hair. I turned around like "WHAT THE &*$^#!!!" :angry2: :swearing:Then he doesn't say anything to me, he just walks away toward his friend nodding and say "Yeah, it's her hair!" (He didn't dig far enough:lachen:) My friends looked at me like... "Girl do you know him!" I'm like "HEEEEELLLL NAWWW!!"

Second time was this lady at my job, I couldn't stand her and again I had a really nice funky weave. She comes up to my all loud, "OOOOhh YOUR HAIR SO PRETTY!!" I'm like, "Thank you." Then she proceeds to reach for my hair....so I SLAPPED her hand!:brucelee::brucelee:
She blinked and looked at me.
And looked at her like... What? Then she tried to reach again and I raised my hand to slap her again:hardslap:....That's when I said, "Don't touch my hair.":naughty:
Another co worker (a friend of mine) happened to see the whole thing...She was hollering :lachen::lachen:

The point is that it's rude not to ask first.:nono2: Just had to share that story.

Oh lawd. You win. WIN!!!1!!!1 That was epic, on both accounts.

I know how you feel :ohwell:

This why I carry a sock full of quarters in my purse.:wallbash::lachen:

Maybe I need to start walking around :scratchch with a sock full of quarters, for when people touch my hair and maybe then they'll get the point don't touch my hair, if you know what's good for you :naughty::naughty::naughty: .

I'm ok with certain family members and friends touching my hair. Other then that I hate it with a passion when people touch my hair. Most of the time or should I say 90 % of the time :drunk: they are just want to check if it's a weave. I don't know where your hands been and I don't want it on my scalp or hair :nono:.

I was walking down the hallway in my dorm and i just feel this hand palming the back of my head.. I turn around and its this football player.. He was like I was watching you walk down the hall and your fro looked so soft so I had to touch it.. that was creepy...

i dont like it if my hair only 'looks' pretty but really feels rough (like my current flat iron/last twist out)
my bf has his hands all up in it when its flat ironed & down , which im gonna have to say something to him soon :look:
my little brother likes to...'pet' me. hm. :ohwell:
and my friends will just reach over and run their hands over it lightly. they are semi aware how i am about my hair so they dont do it often.
as long as its not a stranger.
and my friends/family dont try to 'weave check' me, but none but my bf are black so that might have to do with it...
