I Want to Relax... I Want to stay Natural... I Want...

I've been having this exact same problem for the past 2 years. My natural hair in its natural state is not becoming of me especially at the length it is now. My head looks big and it has way too much volume. I look like a boy and its been 8 months since I last cut. I only have 4' of highly textured highly curly hair. Too bad I was truly bald this time after I cut it. The time before I had some length when I bc'd and at 8 months my hair reached my shoulders in it natural state. My natural hair straightened is everything that I could want. It silky and the strands are full. I can run my finger through my hair and it falls back in place. My natural hair straightened is everything I wanted my relaxed hair to be;however, it isnt permenant. My relaxed hair on the other hand pretty much sucked depending on who did it. I could never get it to look silky smooth on my own and many others couldnt either. I dont have the time, money or transportation to get to someone who can make my hair look beautiful. So no matter how many times I chop off my hair my natural hair out weights the relaxed hair. I was looking into getting the brazilian keratin treatment done professionally but there is nothing in Alabama. Also I cant afford the $300 a month. (It doesnt take to well on natural hair. So I would have to do it more often at the begining to get it pretty straight and from then do it every 2 to 3 months) So I've basically have decided to save up my money and purchase the brazilian keratin treatment myself. It just makes since to do this. I like straight hair and I just need it to stay straight longer.

If you dont plan to get the BKT then maybe try texturizing like others have mentioned. Its some what easier but your hair will not be as strong. I've done this too and in the end I didnt really like it that much. I say you should just put your hair up and away so that you cant mess with it. Hurdles like this is what causes people to quit just before reaching hair goals. Ever since I've been doing a tug of war between relaxed and natural I've had this happen. I keep thinking to myself that if I hadnt cut my hair in april I would probably be nearing bsl right now. My main goal is to get to mid back length and from there maintain. Im not going to make it any time soon if I cant just stick to my plan. So If you have a plan just stick to it no matter what urges you get. And if you follow the plan and you are not ready yet just postpone until you are. I would rather you wait and know what you want for sure than mess your hair up and have to start all over.
