I tried the bantu knots last nite

When I did mines the first time I did them with pins... they were uncomfy. When I did them the second time with bands they were uncomfy. Bottom line: They were uncomfy.

I even told someone i was thinking about doing a little choppy choppy just so i can rock this style. I remember when i cut my hair up to the nape of my neck just so i could get big fingerwaves ... Yes, i know, im loco.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I'd suggest trying pin curls but you've already had a bad experience w/ pins.

CH, that looks really good. Much higher than a five! I have a question for the experts (Modelchick, SweetNic , and others), how do you prep your hair for washing after you wear this type of stlye? The reason I ask is because last year when I would wear my hair curly by using the flexi rods, my hair was always a tangled mess then next time I tried to shampoo. I would love to try your methods which seem better as they do not require rods.

This style is how I got through my transition for 7 MONTHS!!!

Everyone kept saying that I had "secretly" done the BC already cause it looked natural.

The trick for getting it right for me is that I did mine sorta loose...because as they dry they get tighter and tighter and you will wake up in the middle of the night with a headache. I secure mine with bobby pins...but now that my hair is all natural...they seem to hold without them.

This is definitely a WONDERFUL transition style if you dont like braids. My hair loved it!

StarQuality - check out the thread titled ModelChick 717... she gave very DETAILED instructions and i followed them letter 4 letter

I actually wear my hair like this most of the time...I use braids thought to get my waves. I was curious about how damaging it can be to damp and rebraid every night. I stop doing the buns because my hairline was thinning out.

MC said she doesn't dampen and rebraid it. She told me to just pin it up (sort of like in a poof- at night to keep the curls/waves in tact.

I dampen every two days. I only wash my hair once a week maybe twice. when I do mine on sunday nights I leave it like that Monday, tuesday, and then I dampen just a little on tuesday night and then so on. after friday I dont dampen again because i was on sunday.
BTW for me I use to go under the dryer for 15 minutes or so before I would go to bed....but to me it comes out better when it airdries. that's why i do it on sunday mornings or afternoons.

I usually finger comb my hair and then wash my hair standing up in the shower. The water eliminates mostly ALL my tangles. I use my finger to untangle the rest. For the most part I don't have any problems.

I totally agree with you on that.

Co-signing!! Not comfortable at all!!

I can't co-sign that at all! Maybe you secured your knots with pins. Is that what you two did? When I did mine I secured them with nothing OR very loosely set rubber bands.

For me it was the bantu knots themselves digging into my scalp that was uncomfortable...
