After viewing Jessydaya's album,I am anxious to try banding. I heard about it from a NP member named Earthangel and she recommended viewing Jessy's album for more inspiration. Well Jessydaya, thanks to your clear cut instructions and pictures, I am going to find my old pantyhose (silk ones, that is) and I will band tonight.

Good onya, Bublnbrnsuga! Please take pics and share your end results.

The closest thing I've ever had to banding was having my natural hair wrapped in black thread without leaving spaces like in Jessy's banding, and I recall hair being stretched straight when I took my hair out of that style. Jessy's banding really fascinated me - since I'd never seen it before - so I can't wait to hear your feedback. You go, Girl! Don't know why I'm excited but I am.

I am excited, too. My goal is to limit heat so my natural hair will have the chance to flourish. You know I have been facing a challenge with my hair and I felt that I needed to perhaps straighten it until it grows to my shoulders (hopefully it will be to my shoulders in October),but since I have been informed about banding, heat may become nonexistent...

Banding is a method used to stretch out the hair rather than using heat such as blow dryers, straightening combs, etc. Jessydaya has a great explanation in her album about banding. Search her name and view her album.

You are going to give banding a try! All right! Make sure your hair is not too tight at the roots and make sure to use a good moisturizer or hair creme/hairdress. Let us know how things turn out.

Besides banding, there are other non-heat ways to minimize shrinking. I'll share some pics next week.

By the say, sorry about the confusion regarding my name. I guess I'll have to change the name of my album from jessydaya to Jessy55.

Jessy - you mentioned other non-heat ways to minimize shrinking besides banding, can you share them with us?
