Vidal Vassoon (sp) makes a really good flat iron with ceramic plates that's really affordable ($25). I highly recommend it! I've used it the flat iron only on 4a/4b hair, and it works beautifully! I haven't used it on my hair (I'm 3c/4a), but it works great on my other natural friends! There are a couple of threads about it if you use the search button they should come up. Here's a link.
