I have not been to the salon to get a full service since july 2002. I have just gone for trims. So I decided to spend 10 extra dollars and get a regular. I was very dissapointed. The wash was ok and he did ask me how much I wanted trimmed but he tried to make my hair really big and I already have alot of thick hair. When i left my hair felt like a cotton ball, soft but puffy.

And then he tried to tell me that to really make my hair grow I really needed to trim 3/4 of my hair instead of the 1/4 I told him to trim. This made me mad b/c this is the longest my hair has been in years and the healthiest and he is telling me to cut almost all my new growth. I just ignored him. I thought to myself that everyones hair is different. Regular trims do not make your hair grow but taking care of it and not manipulating it that much has really worked for me. I have decided that I will only go to him for trims but if I really want to get my hair DID I will go to HARLEM'S in Yeadon PA, near Philly. Their services are the Bomb. Has anyone else had a dissapointing experience after warding off hairdressers and then realizing why you stopped going to them in the first place? I know that from now on I am my own SPECIALIST!!!!!

How far away is Yeadon from Philly? I don't drive. How can I get there (Regional Rail Line, Greyhound)?

I had a similar experience with a beautician. I had worn braids for 8 months straight. My hair was long and thick and the first thing she wanted to do was trim it. When I told her that I was only there for a re-touch and didn't have money for a trim ($25) she said that she would do the trim and that I could pay her later. I said okay because I thought since I was in braids so long I could probably use a trim. Suffice it to say, the trim was a cut and I was hurt...and disappointed
