OT: Oh crap, we ARE part of a "subculture", huh? I always attached that to say S&M or panty exchange message boards. :look:

 Are you just kidding?

If not:

SUBCULTURE: A social group with shared characteristics that distinguish it in some way from the larger cultural group or society in which it is embedded. Generally, a subculture is distinguished either by a unifying set of ideas and/or practices (such as the corporate culture or the drug culture) or by some demographic characteristic (such as the adolescent culture or the culture of poverty). (pulled from Google "define:subculture")

I consider us a subculture. I know that I can come here and talk about certain things that the average person, even some of my friends, could not deal with. They would think I'm crazy.

I have some words, plenty.

But they won't do her or anyone else any good. What's interesting is the responses to her post. Truly.

What a precious thread in light of today's Oprah episode. A nice reminder to put my rosecolored shades away for a bit longer. :)

eta: Did anyone read all 11 pages of that link? Do I have to read all 11 pages of this thread to find out who read all 11 pages of that link??

Cause GOSH DANG I want to know if she posted pics of her and the hubster with the matching lacefronts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to see that really, really bad.

I read all 11 pages and nope, she didn't post pics. I'm sure it would have been a sight to behold, tho...:look:

I'm fricked up :lachen: Of course, there was that slump and  in the laughter a few pages back, but now I'm back on track.:lachen:

I think I inhaled too many essential oils today.....

Nah, I completely agree with you, Honeydew. It was just a, "Yeah, we are that!" moment in the middle of all my laughing. The panty part was the being funny part.

Y'all don't flame me or torture me, but I think everyone totally missed the whole issue here. I can't tell from her post whether or not she has some self-hate issues. Lots of ladies wear LF and weaves on this board and I have yet to get an indication they do so because of self-hate. I believe this woman totally got caught up in her web of lies. Go back and read the original post....when she met the man she had on a LF...in the mean time as she got to know about him and his heritage she found out how much he loves long hair. So she continues to wear LF and even lies and says she permed her hair because she changed from a curly LF to a straight one. She is not scared that her baby will be born with "nappy" hair as much as she is scared he will find out that she has been lying from day one cause the baby has her real hair. She has been struggling, even shaving her head bald to hide her lies, not really to hide her hair, even though she is doing both. Y'all see where I'm coming from? What man wouldn't lose it over intentional deceit like that? She doesn't want to be caught in her huge lie. Frankly, if she really had self-hate issues I don't think she would have posted that at all. No one is going to out-and-out admit they hate themselves or their baby because of their hair type. It just won't happen. Well...not in a hair board format anyway...that's downright "hair forum suicide." C'mon!

And Bre-Bre, don't feel bad at all because you checked your baby's ears to make sure she would be your complexion. That's not horrible, it's human. Just like mom's and dad's wonder all 9 months who the baby will look like most. You just didn't want to deal with the drama that would surround you and your baby's lives if she looked really different from you and the Dad wasn't around to squash people's trifling misconceptions. People can be cruel and harsh. I totally understand baby girl. Keep your head up sugah!

WOW! I feel sorry for her if she's worried about her future baby's hair texture instead of hoping for a healthy child. That lady has low self esteem and until she works on that, she definitely shouldn't have children cause she will inflict her self hatred towards them! Terrible :(

I was going to say! I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't shocked. I mean, it's very sad, but it doesn't surprise me one bit.:ohwell:

Me neither... I've had more than a few people ask me if I married hubby for his hair. :ohwell: I don't even answer that question. I just let them sit there looking a fool.

I'm glad LHCF was the first (and only) hair forum I've ever visited. That was ignant over there, but not altogether surprising.

This type of nonsense really makes me sick. If she's been wearing weaves that long, she probably doesn't know what her real texture even looks/feels like. Besides, even if her child's hair is nappy, SO WHAT!!!!!

I believe this was posted on Nappturality a few days ago. I really do think that poster was a troll so I didn't give it much thought at all.

That is seriously sad. I hope she doesn't have a kid cause I'd hate to see her instilling those kinda values into her children.

There are two things about this OP that disturbs me:

1. Her "husband" (notice the quotes) has a lacefront. They lacefront shop together! :barf:
2. She shaved her head to wear a lacefront! :dizzy:

Poor child....to grow up with parents like THAT!

That is weird, maybe she posted this to tick some folks off. It doesn't make since to me.

Please tell me you guys saw one of her other posts:

"Girl I know EXACTLY what u sayin! I went to the mall today with my 22" curly 1b mane and I entered a clothing boutique to buy a dress and as I was paying I could feel every eye on me. When I looked at this chick she looked away and the next min she was in the mirror that was on the counter finger combing down her straggly weave. Then the cashier (a white chick) asked if I was indian...I said no..i'm black. This time my hair is all wet because my friend and I got wet in the rain and it's all curly and looking sweet. I was thinking "oh yeaaaaaaah, black and proud!" as I sashayed my a** out of there with my sexy curls nearly scraping my butt crack.

No...just no :nono:. I refuse to believe this BS and I am trying to tell myself its a joke. If the moderators had any decency there, they would close that thread down NOW.

Do they close threads that get out of hand on BHM? I don't ever recall seeing one get closed. I'm just curious...

I dont even know anymore. That place is a circus.

But I do remember back in 2004 that this one thread about a girl who ordered some expensive hair pieces only to have them delivered to her in a crumpled brown paper bag. She was heated and that whole post just turned into a whole mess. I know at one point the forum just had to shut down completely because there were so many cases of people stealing other people pics and other things.

I've read a few posts on BHM board following the original crazy concern. Looks as though LHCF members seem a bit more in touch with themselves. I saw some strange on BHM......posts about 'nice hair, better grades of hair, naps, good hair, bad hair.' I am glad LHCF has mostly intelligent black women who seem to be better educated and much more in touch with real life, i.e...life as it is...whether married to a black man or white man.. I've seen here concerns about the health {product usage effects, etc.} of the not yet born child but hair texture. How silly....good grief!!!

If this is what intelligent sound like, I'm not sure I want to know what ignorant sounds like. Instead of disscussing the issue at hand, it's always common for some folks to totally ignore the important stuff. Trying to put others down to make yourself look good is not being intelligent, is called being insecure. Your statment sound as ignorant as that poster. You don't know those ladies over there. I have read some stupid and ignorant stuff over here and over there also. But the point is to address the issue, not try and see who's better than the other:confused: . Totally childish.

I agree with the section right here. I mean seriously yall (my post included) how long will we allow this stupidity to tap into our insides and how long will we allow ourselves to focus on it?

Please. I am tired of this woman devoting space and pages of this forum to her ignorance. Quite frankly I am sick of seeing this post being bumped only to see the "LHCF is so much better" comments. There are plenty of other posts that need yall help, yet everyone is up in here having a field day off of this woman. Getting some type of sick self-esteem booster. :nono: Pray for her and have a nice day.

I will stop here, but some of us are some of the LAST people who need to be telling each other to "love your blackness," then go on the OT board and give 50-11 reasons why black men and women suck.:ohwell: We ALL have our own internal demons that we deal with. She just happened to put hers on blast.
