silvergirl, your hair looks 3B to me, but I can't really tell because your hair looks like type 2 in the pics in your signature and you're almost natural.

4A has a tighter curl pattern than seraphinelle's hair pictures (4A is like tiny tight coils like the springs in a watch or a hairclip) .

But who knows!

I also think that depending on what your hair has been through you can't tell by looking at the length. Someone suggested looking at the new growth, I agree but you have to let it grow long enough to see if there is a pattern/curl, etc

4a would be my guess. I don't see anything type 3 in those pics and especially considering those are pictures of wet hair. But then again, I am kind of going by my own hair type to define what type 3 looks like. And I could be wrong about how I'm typing my hair. At any rate, that's some very pretty hair you got there.

It looks like 4a to me. You have very pretty hair that looks like it should be fun to style. I imagine it makes a pretty afro puff. It's hard to place hair into a few categories anyway when we all have slightly different textures.

If you're going by the coils on your ends, well that's a characteristic of nappy/natural hair no matter what 'hair type' you consider yourself. However, looking at your second picture, where your hair is more shrunken up (looks exactly like mine), that lets me know you wouldn't fall into a "3" category because I don't see any defined or loose curls/coils/kinks which is what's associated with type "3" hair. Also, type "3" hair tends to clump together when wet so I'd definately say you're 4a.

I'm completely natural! Haven't relaxed my hair since September 2004 (I think) and all relaxed ends are cut off!!

Looks like 4b/3b to me if there is such a thing. The curls look like 3b, the majority looks like 4b with hardly any curl pattern. Your hair looks really soft and the color is beautiful. Funny---from the pictures, your hair doesn't look wet.

LOL, I guarantee you, my hair is soaking wet. LOL... I think in one of the pictures you can see my towel, and the back of my neck wet.

i have to say i think your definately a 3b coz your hair is in really loose curls
my hair is mostly 4a but apart from the second picture it looks nothin like hers.
her hair looks 3c.. the curls are not that tight or small

That's the same thing I was thinking silvergirl. Your hair looks a lot similar to mine and I consider my hair 3b.......but then again the whole hair typing thing confuses me at times so I dunno .

I think hair typing is easier to do on wet hair because any curl/coil pattern is going to be more apparent. Some people believe that water brings out curls/coils in 4B hair but I disagree.. if it's not there, it's not there. Your hair looks 4A to me.

Also, because your hair doesn't look wet when it is, that definitely makes me think type 4.

I say 4a. Here's my little trick for hair typing: If you can easily run your fingers thru your hair, its probably type 3 or below. If your fingers get stuck in your hair, its probably type 4, lol!

I wouldn't say silvergirl is a 3B. Most people who consider themselves 3B are actually mistaken. 3B curls are quite loose and silky like Mya. I'd say loose/long 3C.
