I got my best curls ever using cholesterol! ~Pics~

WOWZERS!! now thats some pretty curls
I have a question, I thought you had to wash out cholesterol because it was a protein and it could make your hair too soft which would cause breakage?

Pokahontas,
Your hair is beautiful! I used this product this weekend and ended up leaving it on all Saturday and Sunday wearing my hair out in two curly puffs. I was very pleased with the results as well. When my hair grows out more and I do a real wash n go, I will definitely use this product.

This product created the best twist-out I have ever had. I can't wait to see what it does for my wash and go. BTW, your hair looks very nice.

i've only used it for a twist-out too and it gave great defined hold but still soft. i like it.

Ms.A, and Ivy, I really like that cholesterol with shea butter it is great, and it even gives my frizzy, curly, coily, kinky, hair type nice curl definition.

GoldenBreeze-

That's great. I'm thinking I'll try it. It's cheap and if all else fails, atleast it'll help me detangle. Do you ever leave it in? If so, does it leave a ashy residue or does it melt in and disappear?

Yes, I often leave it in. It tones down my frizz, and defines my curl without ashy residue. The price is right, and that makes it even better.:yep:

i thought cholesterol was a protein......if it is, would it cause dryness if you leave it in your hair?

You're right, most cholesterol's do have light protein but it seems that this one dosen't. I checked my ingredients thouroughly and I didn't see any so it should be ok to leave in. Check BostonMaria's post on page 5 for the ingredients list.

I said I was done with pj-ism. But I'm going to have to get this for only $2 and try it on me and my girls. Does this provide as much slip as Clairol Herbal Essence?

Yes, I got about the same amount of slip with this.

Beautiful!

Is this cholesterol (brand and type) better than others? Or are they all about the same?

They are not the same at all. I wouldn't say any are better than others but this one is better to leave in your hair. I wouldn't leave any of the others in my hair....only this brand and formula. There are a lot of different cholesterol's and most of them have protein, they are also extremely heavy and stiff....not good for a leave in but this one is thin and watery like a regular conditioner.

I use Lekair cholesterol plus as my deep conditioners.

i hope it works for my natural hair now that im no longer relaxed. when i was relaxed it did less than nothing for me but i still have jar left so i will try it this sunday. i used to used it as a pre poo but maybe i should try it as a deep treatment on wet hair.

It's good as a deep treatment but for the curls posted I left the product in my hair.

I love that stuff, especially the Shea Butter & Mango. I bought a container for something ridiculous like $2.50. The ingredients were decent and I added a little bit of sheabutter and jojoba oil to it.

Lustrasilk Cholesterol + Shea Butter & Mango Ingredients:

water(aqua), stearamidopryl dimethylamine, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, shea butter, mango seed butter, cholesterol, soybean oil, safflower oil, wheat germ oil, aloe vera extrect, fragrance, vitamin e, methylparaben, propylparaben, phosphoric acid, sodium chloride, dmdm hydantation, disodium edta, yellow #5, yellow #6.

Thanks for posting the ingredients. I was trying to get around to doing that. The ingredients are actually impressive.

Bella!

This is right on time. I've been trying to find a way to soften these beady-bees. This is something I'll definitely have to try. Did you mix anything into it? Time to research Curlisto Method...

Thanks for sharing.

Nope, I just used it straight.

LADIES PLEASE DO NOT SLAP ANY CHOLESTEROL ON YOUR HAIR AND LEAVE IT!....ONLY THIS ONE. I just want to make this clear because most of the formula's have protein. Also the other cholesterols (Lekair, Queene Helene, etc. are much much heavier).....this one is actually kinda watery like regular condish.

Because of the rave reviews on LHCF I went to Sally and got some a few weeks ago. Did a super good DC with it (combined with ORS Olive Oil Replenishing DC- which I found a whole bottle at Wal Mart for $6). I did leave it in last night as a 'leave in' after my night time co-wash (I co-wash twice a day). I dont think my hair likes shea butter at all. I never get slip with shea butter conditioners (this one included)-- same with Jessicurl TooShea. My hair seems to hate that one. BUT, I will keep using this one as a DC and will attempt it as a wash n go styler in the morning by applying it still in the shower with hair wet.

Poka keep em comin!!

Hey AllieCat! Great to see you over here!

You know, I can't remember how much slip I got from it when using it as a rinse out.....I don't think it was much because I was never wow'd by it but as a leave-in on my wet hair it was pretty good slip for finger combing it through but then again my hair was already detangled that point.

Beautiful curls and your hair looks so moisturized.

I have this product thanks to CurlyNikki's blog. It is different from other cholesterol conditioners, more water.

i just posted in another thread that i picked this up today thanks to all the good buzz! i will be trying it out on my thursday night DC

KEWL...this is in my budget and I am experimenting with different leave-ins for braidouts. I am about 1 year post, so I have just been wearing braidouts everyday to blend my natural texture with the relaxed ends. I will get this and try it for my next braidout.

THANX!

This really works, thanks for posting!!

I have a curly lace front that is a 3a hair type and it would get frizzy and dry looking when I used products with cones in them to reduce the frizz.

I used the cholesterol this morning after misting with rose water and the curls just popped! Its so soft and swingy! I can't wait to try this on my hair too!

Now my LF looks like the perfect twist-out/braid-out!

Poka, I'm so glad you said this. Some of the others are designed to be deep con, and say so "leave on 20 min". This one CAN be used as a deep, but was designed to be a rinse out "leave on 2 -3 min".

Thanks for sharing...Your hair looks fantabulous!!

I'll keep this on the Wish list when I need to get a new leave-in.

Yes, and there's no protein in it so i feel like it's ok to leave it in.

To anyone interested to see how it held up check my blog. It will be under "Tomorrow's updo". The pics are day 3 of the wash n' go with cholesterol.

Ok Pocahontas, your updo is absolutely gorgeous. I purchased this product yesterday and will try it this weekend with a braidout.

Thanks for sharing

hey Pocahontas i bought it last night and tried it this am. i have been playing with my hair all day because you are right its hard to keep my hands out of it because the product makes its super soft and look the curls are still there after 14 hours! thanks so much for the good tip.

Very pretty. You definitely have my dream hair, especially the length. I can't wait until my hair, with shrinkage, falls at that length (though I'll probably have to be knee length or something, lol).
