But now I'm glad I took my grandma's advice of speaking correctly, getting good grades, applying myself and working with a spirit of excellence! Now I earn $500-$1,000 a week working 10-15 hours a week from home that increases every month. I should be at 10,000 a month withing the next 7-12 months "talking white" on the phone!

how? please tell! I need to make that kind of paper

Great post, KBragg!

I used to get the you got "Barbie doll" hair thing when I was high school. It didn't help that I even spoke proper english too! So some folks would essentially say I was "white".

People are funny... when they're not happy with themselves they find something "wrong" with you. You can't help that when you work hard to take care your hair and just so happens to look fabulous... :look:

This is what most people are calling 3c/3b. The curls are tighter when allowed to dry w/o the ponytail.
The texturized hair is pretty much in the ponytail holder and bunned 99% of the time.
Sorry Sareca!! But to me this pic of your hair does look like 3b-c hair. It doesn't look like a 4 anything. I know you dont like to hear that. Sowwy:D

:lachen: Amen, kbragg!

That's exactly why I'm so mad about people tryin' to take my card. I've never had a firm grip on it and now this! In high school and grade school I was teased for "talkin like a dictionary." I still remember my favorite comeback, "dictionaries don't talk." :lachen:Then when I picked Computer Science to study... Oh MAN! I thought I'd never hear the end of it from my family. But no matter what I still had the color, the nose, and the hair so I was good. Now they're mess with my hair!

*goes off to call local B&N*

Sareca, what brand of MSM and Silica r u taking?
Don't do it. You're gonna get kicked out of the club. :look:

Now I use the flakes from http://a1msm.com/, but when I first started I used the GNC 1,500mg capsules. They work about the same I just prefer flakes because I can dissolve them in liquid. I took BioSil silica.

I still take MSM everyday. BioSil I threw away!

The 3b-c is still what the majority of people say. :ohwell:

getmoore, you relaxed! Where are your pictures?! I wanna see. I wanna see!

you still look like a 4 to me

you hair is very healthy and moisturized, i think that makes the difference, my daughter is 4a if her hair is dry it looks like a rough brillo pad if her hair is well conditioned and moisturized her roots wave up when i put her hair in ponytails,i think many people forgot what healthy hair looks like

That's 4 saying 4.

My hair was really, really, dry before I started taking care of it. If that's the case, it took 5 months to get moisturized. That's about how long I was on my journey before it started to change.

Try not to let people like that bother you. I know it's hard sometimes. I get my level of blackness questioned sometimes too, either because my but is not big enough, or the way I speak isn't black enough, or the fact that I'm trying to grow my hair. This is one of the reasons I'm sooo glad I found this site. I don't feel like I can talk to anyone about wanting to grow my hair long without being labled a "wanabe"; so I don't. I just keep doing my thing.

No one can take away who you are, even if your hair texture changes--you'll still be you, and you're such a nice person. So forget them--we still luv ya!

GIRL I lost my black card a long time ago!:lachen: It wasn't my fault though, it's the fear of God my grandma put in me anytime I talked with slang or an accent! She said "I don't care if people say you "talk white!' If using proper grammar is talking white then talk white all the way to the bank! I had a hard time in school for being a sell out because I "talk white" had good grades, and was in accelerated classes. It was painful growing up!:perplexed

Those girls that gave me a hard time...still single, on welfare, bunch of kids out of wedlock living in the same neighborhood. Never applied themselves in life, but stayed broke all in the name of "keepin' it real."

I lost my black card permanently when I married a white man!:lachen: It's all god though 'cause he lost his white card too ince he never "acted his color." He's not one of those types that "tries to be black" he just loves our culture, our music, our women, our hair, and especial out booties (which ironically I did NOT inherit but for some reason he married me anyway, flat butt and all!:lachen: Dang I'm good!:lachen:)

So here we are, 2 sell outs! I lost my black card, he lost his white card. My daughters have NO cards!

The good news is God doesn't judge us by our skin color for He chose that color when he knited us together in our mother's womb. He doesn't judge us by our hair texture, relaxed, natural, texturized, do you realize He knows the exact number of hairs on our head? Really ponder that, evertime you comb or brush you hair He knows exactly how many you shed, how many are growing in, etc. Me and Joshua picked up our Christian cards in place of our race cards and our lives have been completely transformed and have never been the same.

If by putting good things into your body, that are depleted from our soils, your texture returns to the texture God designed it to be in the first place who are they to judge you? If a person chooses to relax their hair who is anybody to say they hate themselves and are trying to be white?:perplexed Maybe they (gasp) like it that way...

Don't want to get tooo off topic, just want to say, your hair is absolutely stunning!:) Your texture is to die for (I want it now! )

Check out this book, it elped me a lot with race issues and forgiving those who judge me for who God designed me to be, in the end it's only HIS opinion that will matter anyway:

PS: Yes, I am a Bible thumpin' foot stomping, tongue speaking, Holy dancin' fool for Jesus!:lachen:

1.) Girl hook a sista up with whatever it is you're doing. I need to be making some money like that!

My kids father's family used to make fun of me in the beginning because I talked proper (well they considered it to be white). Didn't bother me at all. It actually made me feel good.

2.) You and you're flat behind are too funny!!!!

I'm going to take the middle road. I wouldn't say you are completely "out of the club" girl  . . . This is what I think of when I see a 3c or 3c/4a smoothed out look. The wave size looks 3c smoothed out, but the actual texture seems more of the smoothed 3c/4a ish kind. My kiddies are 3's and comparing--I'm not sure if I see the 3b part there. It'd be easier to tell without it being smoothed back like that--and just free/airdried/no product. Type 4's vary in size-especially the 4a's. I promise I've seen the same shot show up in albums of die hard types 4a's:lol: -- so its really hard to say.:ohwell:

And honestly, I don't see 4b anywhere in that shot either, so if that was the grounds for your "black card" being revoked, then well-- its gone sista. But you know, and I'm sure we all know, that the hair typing thing is really a hot mess in the first place, so  One person's 3a is another person's 3c. No one should discredit your blackness or hair advice as long as what you say is proven. I wouldn't waste my time on people who wish to discount you like that girl! Just keep rollin' through with your henna and call it day:lol:

Sareca - now you know I luv you girl, but your hair texture can be in the 4's unless I'm reading something wrong with the description of Type 4 hair. I thought Type 4 was kinky very tightly coiled hair. Your hair seems to have fairly loose waves which would be you in the Type 3 range. Heck, if your hair is a 4 then my hair must be in a new category like Type 5 or 6! :D

P.S. All of this losing your black card stuff sounds weird to me. I grew up in the Midwest but I've lived in Texas forever now and I've never gotten beef for speaking properly. My family VERY racially mixed and I still never got questioned on my blackness. Hmmm... weird people always find something to question or act crazy about. I do believe it has to do with their own insecurities. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT BLACK PEOPLE HAVE AN ARRAY OF COLORS AND HAIR TYPES!!

PM me, I refuse to hijack!

I got a little hump going on back there.....VERY little:ohwell: Very hard growing up without the signature "black booty." And do brothas help us bootydeficient sistahs out??? NO! All you have to do is turn on BET:mad:

I can actually grow one but unfortunately it always comes with a belly! So I always end up with either booty and big belly, or flat belly flat booty. God did hook me up with doubles D's though so it's all good! Awww great, now geting depressed about the butt thing. I quit wearing pants just because of it! Jeans do not look good on a wide spread that goes straight back into the knees!:lachen: Time for a Xanax! (just kidding ya'll, I don't do meds)

You aren't! The wording of the definitions does not really fit the picture examples of each type. According to the "definition", 3b ranges from ringlets to corkscrews. But, Alot of 4's have corkscrews and ringlets--so that doesn't really help. Half the board would be 3b's by that definition. Then they say 3b can be from sidewalk chalk to salt shaker circumference, and that 3c is more of a pencil/straw. Its easy to see how someone could be confused if you fall in the gray areas. There is alot of slack between definitions, not to mention the fact that textures can be easily altered by simply adding a product or two, smoothing-- or brushing the hair out. The debate will never end.

Sareca, you know nobody can infringe on your beautiful blackness girl, unless you let them. Shake 'em off.

My 46 coils/waves turn into waved too, when I airdry with a scarf. 4b hair can be deceiving sometimes lol:lol:

*off to research Sareca's MSM and Silica

Ok, if you're 3b/3c. Then I'm definitely not! :trampolin My doesn't get that straight from the maxiglide. :lachen:

So now everyone wants Silica to get out of the so called club...
I thought we were all in this together.

****DEAD**** :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I guess I should have explained the pic. It's dry, recently indigo, and lightly gelled. I didn't brush (I don't even own one) and I didn't even comb it. I just raked it with my fingers and slapped some gel on and a scarf on the very front edges. I only cover my entire head when I'm going to sleep.

I'mma let it airdry loose before my relaxer and take pics. I'll resist the urge to make it fro up so I can get my card back.

Slicksista, so I can stand at the front of the club, but I can't come in. You wrong...

Sorry FlowerHair, we're born into da club. I got booted on a technicality and I just wanna go home.:lachen:

e$h, that's what I thought until my NG started looking texturized and I realized I didn't have any control over it. :(

Mami, if yours looks like that pic... I'm taking your card. *mutters to self* Everybody round here tryin' take mine.

Thanks Brownshugaz and chocolatesis.

I think my hair is 3b, though I'm not exactly sure. But now I think I won't take silica because I don't want to lose my curls. If 4a/b goes to 3b/c...what does 3b go to?

:perplexed

I've never had a change in texture. If anything, I think that it is getting kinkier. But maybe I am not taking enough for all of that, I only take one or two of the GNC small dose pills.
