I FINALLY RELAXED!! (a bit long)

I know right, I wonder if it was because she didn't process your hair properly hmmmmm, because alot of times they don't apply a virgin relaxer the right way and like to say you have dead ends which is not always true just their way so called fixing a misstake they made.

You are a strong woman to let them cut off almost 6" of hair!

Your hair looks cute. How much did she actually cut? Make sure you have a really good moisturizing poo and condiitoiner for DCing, the Aveda DR maybe fine I never used it but maybe one of the ladies that does can comment on it's moisturizing ability.

I agree with Trimbride, no lye can very drying.

Your hair looks great. I agree no lye can be drying I switched to lye several years ago after coming to this forum.

Vitapointe is a good moisturizing cream, IMO. You just need a little.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why did you want so much of your hair cut off? Was it breaking off and thinning out really bad?

Umm you know what, I wanted it to be as blunt and even as possible
It was layered and I didnt like that at all
And Im going thru so many other transitions in my life right now, I wanted something new!!

Honestly I think you may be right
A lot of hair was coming out and she contributed it to being dead hair and previously knotted strands
And I just dont think she applied it right
I personally think she should have done root to tip and left the perm on the ends for the least amount of time
But she was really attacking that area first and thats why I ended up with underprocessed roots
But I did want it that short anyhow so it worked out
But IMAGINE if I didnt??

Congrats! Your hair looks great. My very first relaxer was Fabulaxer. I liked it at the time but now I've figured out that it wasn't very good for my hair (dry hair). I now use ORS No Lye Regular and my hair is in its best shape ever.

Congrats! Your hair looks great. My very first relaxer was Fabulaxer. I liked it at the time but now I've figured out that it wasn't very good for my hair (dry hair). I now use ORS No Lye Regular and my hair is in its best shape ever.

I still use no-lye but the no-lye that I'm using isn't nearly as drying as the Fabulaxer. I used Fabulaxer up until I transitioned to natural. Once I decided to texlax, I settled on ORS No-Lye. I'm very satisified with it.... I'm assuming that there isn't much to switching to lye. I'm pretty sure a few ladies here have done it. I'm afraid of using lye b/c I think it'd be too strong for my hair.

Thanks for answering my question. I totally understand about needing something new. Also, you may want to check out the book "Beautiful Black Hair" by Shamboosie. He has a wealth of knowledge about relaxing AA hair. Good luck with your new hair journey.

*Next time, let her know that you want what you want! It's your money and your hair. Never leave your locks in their hands.* (I made this mistake to many years.) But you know I love you right. I dont want you have regrets later because of something 'she' did on her own free will.

Well I trusted her because I know three girls that go to her. And she has three daughers with relaxers who have healthy hair. So I trust her ALOT!! I dont know if thats bad!! But thank you Letitia, if I need a POW POW give it to me!! Umm I put S Curl and Baggied and it really replaced the moisture in my hair!

Umm well I'll still be DCing weekly, but I just dont know what product to use yet
I was going to use Aveda DR but I think I may have to use Smooth Infusion since my hair was very dry
So just baggying a few times a week (i rarely did that when natural... too lazy)
I may co wash midweek which I also rarely did natural
Other than that same thing, protective styling, air drying in braids (did that while natural)
and MOISTURE!!

Your hair looks great. Just clarify and give your self a good hot oil treatment for at least an hour and the moisture should come back. Also try roller-set wrap after the hot-oil treatment. This has always helped me.
