Every time I straighten my hair, this is what it looks like afterwards..., yes, very embarrassing:look::yep:.

I decided to experiment with rollersetting first then straighten. This made a BIG difference in how straight my hair got. The rollerset seem to make the ends straighter so it was much easier to get my CNapp really straight (see pictures below).

Result from rollerset (using Pibbs Hair Dryer):

Result after straightening with Karmin Iron

Much better result. This was a first for me, and I am pleased with it.

Hey Mystic...WOW that looking so yummy!

Girl I was just thinking about you today and funny enough I was also considering rollersetting and flat ironing tomorrow.

I wondered if you had any new pix.

Your hair looks beautiful.

I will have to try this for sure.

Thanks for sharing

What the Bleep!!??? How'd you do that?
Now, I need you to tell more! what did you use? what are the steps? How long were you under the dryer...all that good junk. SPILL IT!

This photo right here is the bidness!

Oh my goodness!!! Are you kidding me? :thud: Man your hair has grown. Those curls are amazing and that shine. Q

Wow Mook's!

How did you get this pic so big???? Sorry for taking so long to respond - I had to go write down the products I used.

Anyway, the day before I straightened, I slept overnight with henna applied to my hair. On wash day after rinsing the henna out I rollerset and stayed under the dryer for 35mins. Products used:

Karmin Iron to straighten
Redken Heat Glide for protection
Elucence Silk hydrating elixir for moisture and shine
Damage Control Leave-In
Water for setting hair

After taking the setters out, I brushed the hair out, sprayed protector on each section and flat iron. I turned the iron up to 350, flipped the back up when I curled and that's about it. I used the same technique as the ugly first pictures but i think it's the rollersetting first that caused my hair to get so straight.

GORGEOUS finally i see a sucessfull roller set on a 4a/b tight curl

Thanks NW. The rollerset came out nice but when i unravel it, it looked like this:

This look is not bad considering no heat etc., but I wanted it a little straighter.

That was a beautiful job!! Your hair is straight up Bling Bling :bling:

I was planning on using henna next weekend but I wasn't going to straighten until a week later because I read that it takes 3 days for the henna to oxidize and that I should give my hair a chance to settle down and get my moisture balance back after the henna treatment...

I see you straightened directly after the henna .. perhaps I should reconsider my plan of attack...

Hi Atlanta:

People do things differently but I have been hennaing since I used to relax to now and I never had a problem applying heat immediately after. I still get the shine right away and my hair always feels moisturized. Right now, my hair feels incredible. All the best with your hennaing next week.

I have heard about rollersetting before flatironing from ladies like you but I have been so lazy to try it. Now, it's a keeper for me. Thanks for sharing.

Your hair looks wonderful! Rollersetting first makes my flatironed hair look better, also.

I love it! After seeing this I have hope that I can get great resuls. I am going to try revisiting rollersetting next month.

Mystic---- I have a "duh" question :) : Did you flatiron each roller section after you unraveled the hair from the rollers? Or did you have a different method for flatironing after removing the rollers?
