I don't wanna go!

So, there's a networking reception tonight that I intended to go to . . . but I don't wanna. *pout* Yes, I know I should go, that life is not going to greet me at my front door, and that if I want to meet a professional man I should be going to these types of events. But I don't wanna go! These are all such dog and pony shows . . . 15 women for each man . . . all of the gals hovering in the corners, sipping their white wine, pretending that they actually are there to do something other than snag a Brooks Brotha.

My co-worker invited me out to dinner (she has to sample some restaurants for an out of town delegation she's hosting next week) so I will probably just do that instead . . . mabye I'll pop into the event afterwards.

*shrug*

How do you deal when you don't wanna go to social events?

When you don't wanna go to social events, I just simply don't go. :look:

But that's pretty easy for me since I'm an extreme introvert.

Yeah but I never want to go out . . . so I will die. alone. :lachen: (I'm just kidding . . . I'm not actually feeling that bad about it, but still . . . gotta do the single girl rant every once in a while.)

If you really don't feel like going don't go.

I never feel like going because I am introverted but I go 9 times out of 10 now and I always have a good time and a good flirt.

i think u should go. u ain't got nuffin else to do. besides, when i don't feel like goin somewhere and I do, that is when i have the most fun. just go and be nosey. network. show up with confidence. people can see confidence. smile. u'll be iight lolol

You will feel so much better once you are out mingling. Mr.Right(okay) may be there. I tell my single friends ain't no man going to knock on your door and say I am your man. Let it be known Glib is in the building

I'm like Pooh Bear, I just don't go. I am very picky about where I go. But since you are trying to get out of a rut and want to meet folks I think you should go. What helps me is I always give myself an out so that if I want to leave early I can.

Thanks for the thread Glib. I have a similar event scheduled for this Friday and I'd made up my mind not to attend-- I love my own company-- but I agree staying home isn't going to work if I want to meet folks. Urgh!
