If you wear potective styles most days then, I have an idea how you can track your monthly growth. Create 1 small braid in an obscure part of your head. Don't touch or remove the braid for atleast one month. At the end of the month, examine how much new growth you've accumulated. If you've gotten anywhere from .5 to 1 inch then you can surmise that you have a hair retention problem and not a growth problem.

Good idea, but just make sure the braid doesn't loc up.

Good luck, IB. Your hair is beautiful, and I'm sure with a increase in your vitamin regimen and some protective styling [step awayyyyyyyy from the pressing comb for a couple of weeks] you'll be fine

How often do you press your hair?
If you press frequently, you might want to consider that Nay, who has gorgeous natural hair like yours, thought her hair was permanently stuck at the same length until she stopped using heat so frequently.

Nay said she presses like every 5 or 6 weeks, not sure. (Nay?) i press less than that. i think she was talking about heat everyday stunting her growth and when she stopped doing it everyday it grew...i really think my hair has just stopped...i dont press often at all...like maybe 2 to three times a year. this year was the first year i did it a little more with the year just starting out. i just think after about eleven years of growing, its done now...but i am trying a few new things to see if i can get a little more growth...we shall see

Girl, whatever you're doing is clearly working, so I can just imagine how good your hair will look after you increase that vit regimen

Pleeeeeze keep us posted.

Iris, how do you know for SURE that your hair hasn't grown more? How do you guage it?

The only way I accurately chart my progress is by using a measuring tape. If I just tried eyeballing it, I wouldn't see any big difference.

And, yeah, you were right. I do still press my hair every 5-6 weeks and wear it straight for a few days. Usually that's because I want to measure and see what's going on. But I don't use the hot curlers too often.

Anyway, I bet your hair is still growing and you just can't tell. Either way, you've got PLENTY of beautiful hair on that head of yours!!

Girl press your hair all you want cause your hair is beautiful period and no worse for it..... and i actually would probably press my hair more often if i had the motivation for the hassle..but ugh its just too much work...plus i know my hair just starts to trip when i wear it pressed too much., but what your doing is working wonderfully for your hair....
on the other note, i dont really gauge it other than just knowing whenever i do press it, its looked the same to me for quite a while now. it just seems to have been at this legnth forever. i dont know how i would measure it though....im doing some things different and not gonna press for a while, then press and take pics and see by some comparison pics....but doesnt some of our hair growth have some kind of inherited influence to it?

btw thank you for the compliment...and girl your hair is da bomb!!
