I stopped taking supplements for a while, i can't seem to stay consistent with anything now. I wash my hair once-a week, sometimes once every two weeks, i normally use conditioner. I have been taking down my hair and having it combed more often than usual, so far i've done two conditioner washes with vo5 and i use world of curls gel and coconut oil+ my homemade moisturiser. i also did a henna treatment, foolwed by nexxus humectress which has done nothing for my hair. I've tried the nioxin for the itchiness it helped temporarily, haven't seen a derma yet. as soon as i get my scalp sorted out, i may texturize, i never had a problem with my scalp when relaxing, only if i got burned. thanks for your advice

Hey girl I hope you feel better :) but maybe you're using too many products and it's overloading your follicles causing the itchies? Maybe you should cut down on the products for a bit, maybe use one product to condition and one product for moisture - then like some previous posters recommendeded stick to simple styles like buns or braids that require little or no manipulation and you should be on the road to recovery. I hope you find a solution that will work for ya!

Den if you feel your pain and itching is temporary please follow the other ladies advice and think long and hard before you make a permanent change. Your signature pictures do look beautiful. And if you are upset with growth retention have you tried MTG ?

Oh, hon....

you have an absolutely BEAUTIFUL head of hair....
Stay strong.......
Most people would KILL to have your problem...
I'm there if you need a HUG:weird:

den, don't give up!!!!! how long is your natural hair right now (sans relaxed ends) ? Why are you reluctant to BC? Have you tried any of the Sulfur 8 scalp products? Maybe you should see a dermatologist...they may be able to help you--maybe this is just a temporary thing that can be fixed with something from the doctor? Don't give up! Also, I know that you don't want to bc, but I wouldn't rule it out completely...it may be better for you. You may have more new growth than you think after 1 year!

Den1 have a good long cry, and you can have a long hot soak and know that not only do we care about your hair, we care about you. You are one of LHCF family and that goes to say...We are on your side what ever it is! The hair will be there when you are feeling better. Bonjour

Do you know the reason why the scalp becomes tender after you stop relaxing? is the scalp trying to heal itself, similar to like a detox or something? Mahililee told me to use mayonnaise, when i go out shopping i'll get some then.

I feel you Den but don't give up it's just your scalp going through creamy crack withdrawl
been there, I used to use seabreeze to stop the itching dont do that-it makes the scalp more dry.
If you do a clarifying rinse with ACV use some whole mayonaise like from the market and load up your hair with it after the ACV and let it sit with a plastic cap on. The pics you have in your siggy look good to me, keep your head up, as you see the ladies here on LHCF got your back.

Carefree: I didn't really feel like i use too many diffrent types of products, i only use whats in signature, when i'm only wearing buns. I'm certainly going back to braids when i've managed to solve my scalp and dry hair issue.
DahomeyAhosi: I've been having this problem for a while, a have lots of sore tender spots on my scalp, not sure whther its from relaxer burns in the past. My hair also feels too dry and as i mentioned before deep conditioners aren't helping much. i used MTG for growth it did help, but i stopped because of finance issues.
brownsugar9999: Thanks...for being sweet.
PittGirl06: i only have 3-4 inches of natural hair, i'm reluctanct to do the BC because my hair is the longest its ever been in my entire life, it would take many years to grow it all back. There is absolutely no way i'd BC, because i know i would definitely slap a relaxer on for length.
Mahalialee4: Thanks girl for all your help. you ladies are wonderful.

Aww Den, don't give up on it! Your hair is beautiful! Maybe you could try some warm EVOO or even peppermint oil to soothe your scalp's itching and tenderness. I found that warm/hot oil treatments helped with my new growth's moisture when a deep conditioner couldn't touch it. I hope things get better for you!

Thanks Jewell, I will try the hot-oil treatment with EVVO and the peppermint and tea tree oils, followed by mayonnaise or dark and lovely conditioners.

Your hair and scalp get used to having the text/relaxere after a certain amount of time that's why its hard to stretch out touch-ups if you've been doing them often, you have to work your way up to longer times without touch-ups. I had severe scalp damage when I was relaxed like she burned a small whole in my scalp
that had to heal then my scalp/hair had to get used to no more relaxers-ever again. That may not be the cse for you but your hair has to adjust to being natural again. Just give it time and keep on babying your hair and keep positive it's just a phase that will pass. HTH:)

Aww thanks for answering my questions Lucia, i remeber being burnt badly many times when i was being texturized by so called professional stylists. Do you i could have some scab hair too? since my hair in certain parts are coarse and rough especially the sides and middle portion.

It's possible but I don't think everyone has stylists who damage their scalp but there are many who do, they think it has to burn for it to be time to rinse it out. That may be why your scalp is more sensitive. You may have sacb hair but after 1 year that should begone and your true testure will come back. hth

I notice that the middle of my hair is coarse and breakaging, irregardless of how ,much moisture i apply, that is why i was asking about the scab hair. thanks

I just remembered something Den1. Didn't you use to do the overnight plastci cap treatment for a long period of time? If I do this about a week in a row, I get "sensitive...sore scalp...because of the plastic and because of the heat and damp for prolonged periods of time. Just like when you sit in the bath tub too long, you go from smooth, soft silky skin to a prune...and the feeling is definitely different. Anyway, some people poke a few holes in their plastic caps and I think they avoid the kind of scalded feeling and drying out of the scalp because no air is getting at it for too long. What do you think, hon? Bonjour

I've haven't tried the plastic cap method in while due to sinus issues i tend to get stuffy. you do have to be very careful, with over steaming the hair, its great to use a few nights per week for moisture, then just wear the baggie during the day time. I honestly feel that i'm seriously lacking in nutrients in my body and my scalp is probably still detoxicifying from relaxer burns, hence the soreness and rough spots. thanks for your concern you ladies are the best.

Here is something that is supposed to work for over processing and bad effects from relaxers. from EC mode. I will try to find the site for you and will post it as soon as I do. Bonjour

Hey Den!
Your hair is so beautiful-shiny, long and wavy/curly! You have to hang in there. You're such an inspiration to so many people :)
Den, it is so true please hang in there! Have you tried a hot oil or/deep conditioning treatment with a hot towel or heating cap. This always help me out alot with dry hair and a hurting scalp. But, please don't be discouraged. You have come so far!

Great for getting thicker hair as well. Another thing if you get the Vitamin C crystals, add some to distilled water and shake well and spray your hair. this is great for hair and scalp repair. Bonjour

Thanks all the info, i need that vit c crystrals to take with my msm too, as well as applying it topically to my scalp. Mahalialee4, i really can't stand and do not want thick hair, i wish i could exchange heads with someone who has finer hair than mine. oh well, i'm stuck with it unless i perm again.
