I've been lurking around on this board for a few weeks, initially I was not going to join. I was content to read. OMG the wealth of information on this board is incredible..........I've seriously been a LHCF addict, no tv, no internet, just reading, even at work (don't tell). There are quite a few 4a/b women on here that have made me re think my f-it!! attitude regarding my hair.

I think i'm still in shock at the many women here with hair like me that is down there freakin back......WOW. My first priority is fixing the mess I have now, but I would love to get remotely close to the bra strap, and mine is thick b/c of my chest so I should have less distance to travel (hahaha)

I was this close to getting me some glue and buying me some hair. Now I 've decided to try and see what happens when I actually take care of my hair.

Sad to say I don't recall the last time I put something on my ends specifically....I might occasionally through some grease on my scalp but I hate the way it makes my hair all greasy so that does not happen much. My mom and sister both have 3a/b/c (not sure) hair and they have never had to "care" for it so I guess I just never really learned how to take care of my hair, my mom put pink lotion on her hair......so did I, she never wrapped it or washed it really except for the salon......me too. So I realize now that I never gave my hair a chance. Currently my hair is...hard to say the back is right at the bottom of my neck but the sides are a hot mess (pics soon to follow :-). The longest my hair ever was , was when I had some type of curl at 11 or 12, guess that should have been a hint that my stuff was dry ....

Any way I am rambling, I really just wanted to say hello to you all and thank you for the inspiration ...... I will take some pics here soon and try to plan a regime for myself but I know I will be asking tons of questions re: products and usage ie.....shampoo (clarifying shampoo, dandruff shampoo(I have sebhorreic dermatitis), moisterizing shampoo,) conditioners (normal, protein, deep) etc.

Thanks again!

Welcome, you're going to love being a member here.

Your story is so reminiscent of so many members who just thought that some women had it when it came to hair and others just don't, but the truth is that whatever your hair type the great equalizer comes down to how you care for it. When people say that 4A/B hair can't/won't grow, of course it's not true, why else would people get touch-ups if their hair wasn't growing. 4A/B hair usually requires more and better care than other hairtypes. And with that hair your hair can and will grow and more importantly retain length!

Welcome to LHCF, as a fellow 4a/b I know how you feel and how certain goals may seem impossible, but I say give up the f... it attitude and start taking care of that hair, before you know it, it'll be blowing in the wind!

Thanks for the welcome.

Ms. Kenesha - I used to think about that all the time, why all this new growth if my hair isn't getting any longer. My edges are really sensitive, for a while there all I would have was new growth when it was time for a relaxer, I was never sure if the perm was not taking or if the hair was just breaking off before the next relaxer was due.

I've had sebhorric dermatitis too, ACV rinses are great, I don't even want to go back to the salon anymore...anyhoo WELCOME to your new addiction, just don't become a PJ...

Welcome!!!!!

That is the exact same way I feel, I tried to resist but I couldn't take it any more and eventually gave in.

Thanks again ladies for the words of encouragement. I need them...I'm already coming down off of my LHCF high.....looking at my hair in the mirror its a hot a$$ mess.
