Thinned them out, I was being overdramatic in the title..

From Wet Bunning and Drying in pony's .. Im really thin in the temple area, and it looks like I just cut some of it, all broke off..

Man..

I have enough hair to hide it, but dang, if it's not one thing its another

KhandiB, I have noticed if it is not one thing it is another with you. Maybe you need to simplify method.

Your hair is already pretty. So take it easy on those edges.

OH NO!!! From protective styling? Do you think it was because you set your ponytails and buns while wet? What do you think you should've done differently? Hope these aren't too many questions and.... I STILL LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!

Yeah Khandi, Ive heard that you have to be really careful with the wet bunning, chica.;) Theres a post floating around called "Ladies with thinning edges, whats worked". I think its something like that. :) Good luck, Khandi.

At least you can hide it. I feel you on the second half of your statement. I used to feel like as soon as I got one thing under control, something else came up.

It's like that right now just a little bit. I think im experiencing slight breakage from the color i just put in but nothing too drastic. AFter my weeky protein treatment, I should be just fine.

Try layin off of styles that put stress on your hair line. There are more protective styles besides pony's!:)

ITTTA with this!!! Girl what are you tryin to protect? If my hair was that length I'd probably lose it swingin it around for all of creation to see!:D :p

Keen - my method is so simple ... Protein, Clarify, Wash, Condition, Rinse, Style
TexasQT - thanks for the comp :D
Shunta - Im not as mad as I should be cuz my hair looks great right now, i know i wont be washing for 3 weeks this go around
Taij - I do be swingin  I love wearing my hair out ...

Same here!

I don't have hair that long and be swinging mine for all creation to see. I wouldn't know how to act if I had Khandi's hair. :D

Well, at least you can put wet bunning on your list of things you don't do... Maybe you should create your protective styles on dry or damp hair only. Good luck growing out, it'll be back in no time ;)

How does "wet" bunning affect the edges?

Is it being pullled back to tight or just the wet bunning itself?

Please do elaborate :)

Sorry to hear about your edges Khandi. Back in the 90's I was sporting those phony hair cut (high to the sky) pony tails all the time and after a while it seemed like my edges were never as long as the rest of my hair. They never thinned out (but it broke off so I lost length)---but it took a while for them to catch back up with the rest of the length of my hair. Just give that area more attention and tlc

Khandi...I did the same thing about 4 months ago. I try not to bun wet anymore and also I'm constantly checking the tension and even feeling the skin in the temple area to see if it is tender. Also....and I think this was more of the issue, I changed how I tie my hair down at night b/c I think the scarf was rubbing against it. I used some EO and Emu, and they are growing back in, but they still have a ways to go.

I believe it is because when your hair is wet, it stretches more easily than when it is dry. So when you place your hair into a wet ponytail the hair is stretched out, so when it dries and the hair "constricts" it results in an even tighter ponytail than when it was wet. This may add extra stress to the hairline causing it to break. I hope that makes sense.:)

KhandiB you have lovely hair, don't worry. Those kind of setbacks happen to all of us. I know I just had a "if it's not one thing it's another" when too many ACV rinses left my hair brittle and I had to nurse my hair back to health. It's all in finding what works and doesn't work, ya know? Maybe if you rub a little castor oil into those edges nightly that might help bring them back. ;)
