Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

Yeah I'll miss that dancers too. LOL. It was time for a change.

I love Jada i think she is so strong and beautiful. She gets overlooked in the celebrity stakes in my opinion, as if Halle Berry is the only beautiful woman of colour that's got it goin on.

That pic is a typical example of my first hair goal.
**gushes at Jada's hair**

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

LD is this Jada's hair? I thought it was a weave because I saw her last year with her short haired self! /images/graemlins/confused.gif

If this is her hair, I wanna know what her regime is and what pills she is on!

She is like girl you had so much new growth it has to MARINATE!

[/ QUOTE ]

Marinate? What does she think she was doing, roasting a duck?

NayNay,

I am so sorry that this happened to you! What is wrong with these hairdressers that they don't want to listen to their customers? /images/graemlins/mad.gif Don't they realize without the customers they can't make a living and the boomerange factor still does work in business?

That's alright girl...with my new cut and yours, WE CAN START OVER TOGETHER! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

Hello, I am new to the board and this just had to be my first post. I know exactly how you feel. I hadn't been to a beautician in over 5 years. I heard from my braider, of a girl who was an excellent hair care sytlist. /images/graemlins/smile.gif "She doesn't use blow dryers" and "she knows how to relax hair without overlapping and care for chemically treated hair"... etc. So I decided to make an appointment with her. Everything was going okay until she asked when my last trim was. Here we go I thought. I told her that I was only there for the re-touch and that I wasn't prepared to pay for a trim ($35.00). She told me I could pay her later for the trim, and my end were badly damaged. (A couple of days before my appointment I trimmed my own ends.) Suffice it to say, she didn't trim my hair, SHE GAVE ME A HAIR CUT!!. /images/graemlins/mad.gif When I got home and angled that mirror at every angle of my head, tears came to my eyes, my length was gone. I was most disappointed because I had just come out of wearing individual braids for a 9 month intervals and my hair had grown a little past shoulder length. After she cut it, I was almost back to where I started 9 months prior.

This was over three years ago and I have not been back to a salon. I bought a popular hair growth book and learned how to care for my own hair. I've taught my man how to trim my ends if I wanted an even style, and he does well. I do my own re-touches (which I would prefer a professional for re-touches). Since I've been doing my own hair and have found a system that works for me, my hair is growing healthier and faster than if it were in braids. It is 16 inches long from the crown - it's about 2 inches away from bra strap. I would like for it to grow as long as it wants to grow.

I think we should learn and master our own hair, of course we need professionals with licenses to do the things that we are not trained to do. IF YOU CAN! I still have not found anyone to professionally take care of my hair in L.A., however, I do know how to wash, condition, moisturize and treat breakage. I treat my hair better than any paid beautician would. Learn about your hair and continue getting information from the people who give comments and advice here - it's great! Also have self-confidence, self-love and self-respect - with all of this going, you could be bald, literally, /images/graemlins/smile.gif and still know you are special and worthy of everything that life has to offer.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

Yes Julia, it's a weave. She was just in Hairstyle Mag.. With her short crop cut, (looked shave actually) She says she keeps it short cause she likes to get up and go.

Londondiva, You said but neither of them were willing to work with it and maintain that length.

That is so true, I think that is part of why that lady did that to me, I was gonna grow out of the perm and have it pressed and she did not want to be bothered with that much...

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

It's Jada's hair

I posted many pictures that I got off wireimage of Jada's hair growth over a 2 year period. Her hair in Ms Kenesha's icon is naturally curly. Did anyone see her in Bamboozled. That was her own hair she was wearing. I got some pics of her in my sister 2 sister mag when she was 7 months pregnant with her daughter Willow and her hair was shoulder length. Jada's hair is actually very long now. Some pieces may be added for fullness, but I'm sure her true length is close to bra start or at the point right now.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

NayNay,Boy, I'm so sorry about this. But I always tell myself...especially after reading these horror stories, (and yes, I've many of the past as well)
"My best hairdresser is myself".
What a crime! I know through experience that it's not easy to sue these people. You know the law is on the side of the criminal. Just for that, I hope your hair grows back twice as fast
smile.gif

Again, I'm so sorry about this mess!!!

EDITED because this message was mean't for NayNay

I stopped going to these crooks last year. I've experienced all the above with the jealous types. You can't grow hair, you can't have your fiance to drop you off without their 2 cents, and further more, don't look like you are all put together...if you know what I mean.
I don't go to them anymore...never will. All of these years, before LHCF, I thought it was something about me...well it was. (THEY WERE JEALOUS). Needless to say, I do my OWN HAIR! If I need a "trim"....a REAL TRIM, my fiance does it for me. I'll say, I've never been more satisfied with the results. Please, I hope you find someone who will just do what you ask!!! Our hair IS our crowning glory....who has the right to destroy it? It's attached to us. This is the same as stabbing us in the back as quickly as we turn away
mad.gif

OK...I think I said enough for now. I must save room for the rest of the "beautiful people" here on LHCF.
Oh,
P.S. I've just have to say that I pray...yes I do that everyone learn on this planet the secrets we have. Let the hairdressers stand at WINDOW "A"

I promise I'm done now...at least verbally!

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

I just feel so bad for u Nay Nay as well as all of the other members who continue to get undesired results from stylists.

It seems that I'm always replying to these horrible (cutting) situations. Ladies, please try to be more careful when letting others in your hair. If u have to watch their every move, do it!

In fact, I was one of those clients who would sit in the chair with a mirror in both hands, & DEMANDED that the stylist turned my back to the mirror so that I could get a clear back view. When the stylist needed to turn the chair, I would compromise, but I would position the mirror in my left hand so that the mirror in my right hand would still give me an "obstruction free" view of the stylist's hands manuevering my hair. Yeah, I was a bit demanding, but I didn't care. It was my hair & my (mom's) money. I can jack up my own hair. I didn't need to pay someone to do this for me. I guess because they knew I was watching, they didn't try to pull anything slick. Not to mention that my very assertive mom was always hoovering over too!

My aunt was my beautician from my first perm (age 13) til her death. She used to tell me all kinds off horror stories about beautician's & their "non-professional" ways. If she recvd 2 complaints from customers about her stylists, she would fire them, no joke. She didn't play that "
censored.gif
the customer" game
nono.gif
.

I know that you're pissed & u should be. I agree, u should notify the manager of your experience. Maybe your complaint is one of many that would get action taken against her. The good news is now u have a "fresh start". No splits... a nice even cut. Just make sure that u take this opportunity to keep your ends split free & healthy
smile.gif
.

It's just so heartbreaking for me to read these types of threads. I've said it before & I'll say it again.... this is the exact reason why I do everything myself.

Best Wishes luv

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

I am so sorry to hear of your experience. Too often, a trim becomes a cut. I despise that...

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

NayNay, If that was me, fists would be flying!! I can't believe the nerve of that woman. And it's a shame that it from our own sisters!! But that's o.k. every do has it's day. She will get hers. But if I were you I would spread her name out to the entire town.

I don't understand it. I knowit's jealousy but damn why do that to someone. That's why I do my own hair. I perm, wash, deep condition and sometimes trim what I can see. But other than that no beautician will get near my hair.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

Hey NayNay,

I am so sorry to hear what is happening to you. Don’t worry it will grow back in no time, hey atleast it is Totally Healthy

Anyways, I feel you on the “Blowouts”. I used to go to the Dominicans and get my hair blown out every two weeks. And though at first it looked good and healthy, it eventually made my hair unbelievably brittle at the ends, that no moisture could help it. In fact after several months my hair had was completely “see through in the back. My once thick bouncy hair turned in a tin fly-away. Now, I am not sure if it were the products they used or the excessive heat of the Blow dryer. But it damage totally damaged my texture over time.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

well..i am natural and the same happened to me back in dec of 03. this girl was my stylist from 96 up UNTIL dec 9th! she had only cut my hair one time since being natural. i went in to her that day for a good trim and evening up. (my sides and back were longer) my longest length was close to 6 inches and the shortest was 4 inches (i had been natural for a little over a year) a spot had broke off very badly at the top of my head..so as it grew back, i kept trimming until it caught up with the rest..

NOW..i go in..tell her the deal..my hair stretches very easily and i was wearing a headband. also, i have a LOT of shrinkage (washed that morning) so she starts to pick it out..i tell her..either blow dry my hair OR wet it all so you can see. she picks it out..gets the clippers..i was like..HOLD UP..she said she was going to take some off so she can see really what needs to be cut..so i said ok..LIKE A DUMMY..the clippers go back..she starts the next row and i SCREAM STOP! MY HAIR IS NOT THAT SHORT! i pull the shortest section and she sees the length.

because she went low in the front..the rest had to be cut. i came out with a TWA..4.5 inches of hair GONE! i came home with 2 inches on down! that was MY LAST time sitting in any salon's chair..i trim..i color...i do all on my own and my hair IS thriving quite nicely!

ITA! It started off great and in a year's time of going about 3 times a month my hair was dried and damaged. I would warn people to use Domninican blow outs only on special occassions.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

Was she a baldheaded b**ch? She was probably jealous and wanted to destroy your progress!!!!

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

NAYNAY

I'll give you a hug because I went through the same thing in December when a stylist not only cut too much off but cut it incorrectly leaving me with uneven ugly layers. (See Dec 2003 in my album) I decided to stop going to her and to learn to trim my own hair. I go to another hair dresser now to press my hair but she has not trimmed my hair because I take such good care of it, she doesn't have to.
Practice dusting your hair before you get into big trims and keep your ends moisturized (only the ends) with a light serum (I do mine every day at least once if my hair is pressed.)

By the way the other girl who did my hair so horrible, she went out of business.

Re: MY \"FORMER\" HAIRDRESSER BALDED ME

NO!
She would've had to swallow all that hair she cut off my head...or else.....

I'm sorry but I really value every strand of my hair because it took a lot of hard work TO GET IT THERE, so VIOLENCE could have been the only solution for ME!

This is just terrible! I don't want to see another hair stylist ever...you really can't trust a stranger anyways.
