I am SOOOOOO livid right now, it's not even funny.

whosthatgurl

here.... but i'm not here
Omg. . I jsut went to go get a touchup for my hair. I'm thinking, okay, perm deep condition, blow-dry and flat iron. That shouldn't be too hard for her to do (btw, the girl was white=ugh)

So everything goes by fine. . she's like "I'm going to trim your hair". .and I said okay. . . and I thought, my ends aren't that bad. . they're not bad at all. . but whatever, it's not gonna be much. WRONG.

My sides were LONGER than the back. . it was almost cut like a Chinese bob (I had it since March), and the sides and front was almost touching my coller bone, in fact it was if it was stretched, and now it's right by my CHIN. And now the back is barely touching the top of my back.

I swear, I was thisclose to cussing her the complete out. I'm still so mad that I'm crying while I'm typing this.

There goes my first goal out of the window.

I'm sorry to hear she jacked up your hair. :(

Maybe you can wear it in protective styles till it grows out. Can you complain to her manager?

If the manager is who I even think it is. .she wasn't even there today, and it took me two times to realize that she sucked as a hair stylist too.

So sorry to hear about your bad expirence. :( This is why it is so hard for me to go to a beauty shop. I have not been to a beauty shop in over 3 years. I so want to get regular trims by someone who understands what I am trying to accomplish, but I just don't trust anyone.:(

I'm so sorry that happened to you :cry3: :cry3: :cry3: I'm crying with my sister on this one. I pray that your hair grows back super fast and that you will feel better soon.

Has this stylist done your hair before? Many times ladies complain about hair disaster involving a stylist but there were warning signs all along. I know that there are great stylists out there, but they are few and far between. If you are willing to keep looking, then great, more power to you. But if not, there are more than enough resources and ladies here that can help you to get on the road of being your own personal stylist. The benefits are enormous. More money, more control, more time, more independence, etc. The last time I went to a salon was in August of last year and my hair has thrived. IMO, the judge of a good stylist is that foremost he or she listens and responds to the wants and needs of their clients, they teach their client how to care for and maintain their hair and they improve the condition of their client's hair. I would revisit a salon only on those conditions, but right now I don't feel as though I need to. HTH.

Try to keep your head up! I haven't been on this forum for long, but I have read that some ladies tell the sylist the length/inches they want taken off. And some learn to trim their own hair. Bottom line is, you have to be your own hair advocate because relying on some of these stylists can cause alot of unnecessary grief. In the meantime, try to look on the brighter side of things... it's hair... it'll grow back. And with some special attention.. it'll grow back longer and stronger than before.

:) Good Luck on your hair journey!

Giiiirrrrl, if anything I really really REALLY think you should learn how to trim on your own. If I ever decide to go back to a stylist, that's the one thing I will always and forever do myself. It's not hard at all. The people I recommend is a sister, your man (you know he ain't gonna want you to lose too much), a very close girlfriend ( not one who has jealousy issues), or a mother.

Sorry about your experience. Please use it as a learning experience and take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Sorry this happened to you. Let this be a lesson learned, I know we all hear the stories but it's something about going through something that just toughins up your skin about speaking up and saying no to a service you don't want done. I think we all go through or have gone through a point where we just kinda sat there and "uh-huh" and "sure"'d our way through 'professionals' suggestions. This could have been me at my last touch-up when my stylist overprocessed, if my hair didn't look like a HAM and didn't need a touch-up so desperately I wouldn't have allowed it to go on, the fact that she did that made me furious enough to stand so strong on my ground not to trim and the bytch was beggin practically and trying her best to convince me, I had to tell her "No" 4 or 5 times. I walked out of there with the satisfaction that I at least controlled THAT situation and never went back, my hair couldn't be happier after my own personal TLC.

Well, I know for sure that I'm going to start doing my own touch-ups and trims from now on.

thanks y'all. I won't be over this until it grows out though. Someone's gonna say something like, "you cut your hair" uuuugh.

my hair takes FOREVER to grow out.

See, this is why I am so afraid to go to any stylist, though I am tempted to try the Dominicans. :( :(

I'm so sorry that this happened. I have slow-growing hair and so I would be so upset and depressed if this happened to me.

Have you tried doing your own trims? I dust after each relaxer if it needs it. I just forced myself to learn how to dust my own ends.

Good luck. Hang in there. Your hair will grow back. The fact that you'll need a relaxer is proof that hair grows!

That happened to me this weekend. This co-worker, who I don't like, asked if I cut my hair. Well, it appears shorter because my roots are poofy. My NG at the crown is making the rest of my hair shrink and look shorter. Anyway, I'm happy that my hair is growing some, but I really hate it when people ask this.

Hang in there, sweetheart! Your hair *will* grow back. ;)

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know the feeling--I've been there. I cried and I wanted to go back to the shop and cuss that stylist out. That's why I do my own touch-ups and trims. I hope you learn to do them for yourself also. I think you'll be happier with the results.

DID YOU WHOP HER A$ZZZ AFTER YOU GOT OUT THE CHAIR?????:hammer:

KIDDING! Like all the other ladies said, either we've been through it or know someone that has. It's sad that good hair stylists are soo rare. I'm the same boat as you and really intend to clip my own ends or have my mom do it. I always end up with super layers or a hair cut instead of trim.

KEEP YA HEAD UP...It's only hair (I had to have that mentaility after getting jacked up numerous times.) You know what to do to get it to grow back. GOOD LUCK!

I am sorry that this happen to u :( ... I was in the same boat over a year ago so I feel ur pain.....There are some good stylist out there but a few and far between like some ladies have said... I would suggest handling ur own hair from now on there are so many threads for different to it ur self stuff...But it will grow back .. if ur hair is slow to grow try a good growth aid and supplements :)

I am soooo sorry this happened to you. I went without a trim for a crazy amount of time because of a SHS who took advantage of the situation and cut me back to SL from almost APL (and had the nerve to tell my friend that I needed it). My last trim was done at Great Clips, and I have been loving it. However, I do plan to manage my own trimming. I agree with LocksofLuv, find a sister, mother, signif. other, or non-jealous friend to help you if you're not comfy trimming yourself. I love to let my mom trim, but I don't live near her now. She taught me a trimming method where you trim as you rollerset. This usually gives me really nice results. Until it grows back, find some styles that you feel comfortable in. It will grow back before you know it.

This is horrible and I hate that it happened to you.

I think you should at least call and complain to the manager. These things will keep happening if we do not start speaking up when we are not happy with the service. I went through this at a Dominican salon Oct/Nov of last year...I could tell you the exact date if I did a search for the thread I started where I was distraught and bawling my eyes out....:(

It will grow back and be better than ever!

I hate to see us leave salons not letting managers and stylists know why they're never getting your business ever again. Take a photo of how your hair looked before, and let her/him see what it looks like now. They owe you a free fixup at least. Even it up, somethin'. And not the same chick!

On top of that when a stylist says 'I'm gonna...' I let them know they're doing NO SUCH THING. If I didn't ask for it, I don't want it. I want what I am paying for, nothing more, nothing less. I can screw up my own hair for free... I'm paying you to NOT do so.

You ladies need to stop going to stylists!

ETA: Unless of course, you know and love them.

I think LHCFers need to get together and become each others' stylists. I would love for 2 girls to part my hair and help me S&D for an hour. LOL Save me some time trying to get those hard-to-reach places. Any takers? PM me. LOL

I'm so sorry that happened. I totally feel your pain. That's why I will NOT go back to a stylist for a TRIM again.
